Craig you can use the hump cover and carpet from a 87-91 and everything will bolt back together flawlessly and your shifter boot will fit nice to as well as the carpet from a 87-91 truck as well
Now this is definitely what this truck needs & should have: a 5-speed manual transmission. I love these old bull-nose Ford F-250s that I grew up with especially ones that came with a manual transmission and 4-wheel drive. I saw a lot of them like that used as a work trucks for for plumbing, electrical, & general contractors.
Im in the process of swapping my 3 speed manual out of my 65 f100 to a ZF5, got lucky and found one with a small block bell housing in a pull and save.. best $200 I ever spent.
1985 was the first year for the EFI F250. My father ordered it, and had to wait months for the EFI 302 to make it to the production line. I still own it, has a factory 4 speed. 64,xxx original miles.
I'm currently doing my first trans swap 4r70w for an m5od on my 95 f150. Love my bullnose. That's getting a 4x4 zf5 swap soon. Great content man. Keep it up
I’ve done quiet a few manual swaps in these trucks. I highly recommend getting a firewall reinforcement plate. It stops the clutch master cylinder from flexing and cracking the firewall. You can pick one up from Jeff’s Bronco Graveyard.
Craig , I found your channel when I got my 68 F 100 & you were still in HS , now I'm purchasing a 86 F 250 4x2 with a 351W & factory 4sd to build into a motocross hauler to shuttle my 13yo & his buddies dirt bikes to various trails in my area . The plan is to document it all on my channel as well as lots of sappy father/son content lol. Thanks for being such an inspiration to this old guy , it's great watching you & your buddies living your best life ... God bless
Great upgrade with the ZF5 speed. The clutch you will have push fluid up though the slave cylinder to bleed it out. I use a phoenix injector. Save time bleeding the clutch hydraulics
That's crazy, amazing job. I never even thought a swap like this was possible or economic. So, that was really interesting. I had my stock AOD4 rebuilt. I did replace the column shift and all those levers to put in a B&M unimatic floor shifter. It was great to see this though. I learned a lot from this video. Thank you.
Watching this channel since back from when he had the pre runner c10, got to say Craig you have come far and it's it really nice to see you still killing it.
OMG my stomach turned when you discussed the flywheel tooth count for the ZF5. I bought a ZF5 that was from a 351W truck. I got the flex plate, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and the front yoke from the drive shaft too. My 5.0 uses the 50 oz flywheel so 28 oz flywheel can't be used so I bought a new 50 oz flywheel and forgot what tooth count it was. So I just checked and I got a LFW161 flywheel (164 tooth) what a relief! I hope to mount it up when we get a little cooler weather.
I lost 1st,2nd,and 4th on my gmc sierra heading out to go ride dirtbikes.Came back after the ride and just swapped the Trans filter, gasket, both shift solenoids, and it's been working ever since.
I did the same in my '85 Bronco. Pulled the AOD and put in a ZF5. Such a great transmission! This brought back a lot of memories. Also swapped the EFI 302 for a 300 I6 with a Holley Sniper.
Wish my back would let me wrench again. Buddy In simi had one similar vintage..bought a PAW long block kit, pulled his 351 out fri night, built the engine sat sunday installed and broke the cam in drove it to work Mon morning, ran great for 25 yrs.
This swap is bringing back memories of me doing an auto to manual swap in a 90s bronco. I had to replace the steering column for some reason. I can't remember why. I do want to thank you for all the passion and grind you put into all your projects and the channel. I got one of the engine shirts and I get compliments every time I wear it. More artwork shirts like that would be awesome.
I respect the heck out of y’all been a while since I’ve subscribed to a channel but yall definitely earned one from me! Thank yall for just being real!!
The fact that most everything you have is a Manual Makes your vehicle’s and Channel one one the Best on You tube!!! Absolutely Love the Truck and now that is a stick makes it 100,000,000 times better!!!! Making the world a better place by Manual swapping One V at a time!!! Lol
I'm surprised you had to cut anything. About 15 years ago i put a ZF into an '89 F250 that originally came with a C6 and the doghouse had a bolt on cover. Everything bolted in in fact. I was really impressed how easy they made it on themselves especially compared to the Chevys of that era.
I’d do this to my 93 f150. Have all the parts but don’t want to kill my 93 7.3 idi f350. The manual transmission is good. But just got the cylinder heads I needed for the 7.3. Working on cleaning them up. And getting gaskets
I love this swap….something I recall from my dim memory is that the hydraulic clutch needed a reinforcement plate on the fire wall because it would crack it. Not sure that applies here, but maybe?
so cool see this swap be done i use to think those v6 manual trucks didnt match the sbf cant wait to see more this truck also the white f100 is my new favorite muscle truck i fallowed since i seen it blow up.keep it up bro looking forward to get some merch too, from Houston TX
Hi from Europe (Austria) - so envious of how easy things are for you guys, I swapped from a 3 on the tree to a 5sp McLeod (avoid) on my 64 Comet and it was a nightmare. Now ordering front drum brakes I don't really need (yes I know it does not makes sense) for same car and it's no fun either with 8-day shipping...
This is awesome. Also conveniently, I'm looking to zf5 swap my 85 6.9. So this was helpful! Mine should be a bit more simple, as it has the t19 4 speed in it already. Keep on grinding. The content is appreciated!
Oh man a ZF5... i have been looking for one over a year now ( i don't live in the us) I bought a 460 to replace my shitty old fe360 in my 1970 F250 4x4 and i didn't think the biggest problem i would have was finding a manual trans. I currently have a np435, but i wanted a 5 speed for better driveability. Oh well, now i got a tko 600
Only one I can think of that I have seen was a 86 f150 300L6 EFI 4spd my uncle redid and painted forest green metallic around 2007 but I would about bet it is starting to rust being in Randolph County Indiana. HE WELDED FLOORS COMPLETE SIDE PANS, ROCKERS AND BRAND NEW DOORS CAB CORNERS AND FRONT FENDERS SOMEHOW WERE FINE, I KNOW ABOUT IT BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO BUY IT AND V8 400 BIG BLOCK SWAP IT, AND PUT A CADET HEAVY DUTY BLACK FLATBED WITH UNDERBED TOOL BOXES ON IT BUT THE STEEL VERSION,I ENDED BUYING A VERY SOLID 84 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME BROUGHAM AND SWAPPING THAT TO A 91 CHEVY CAMARO RS 305 CHEVY H.O.081 HEADS TPI TO THE GM BUICK 231V6 STOCK TH350C METRIC LOCKUP AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
You’re going to need to take out that crossover pipe that’s gonna make the truck overheat real quick the crossover exhaust pipe, so run flow tech headers high flow, cats, black widow maker, 10 series mufflers
30 years ago a lift was $3500. I couldn't afford it! Nowadays a lift is $3500! GO FRICKIN BUY ONE! WHILE YOU ARE YOUNG! Your body will appreciate it! I know. I'm 68 and I'm over it.
A idi i was bidding on sold today. I stopped bidding because its auto so i didnt wanna go through finding a zf5 for it or spend $1500 for a zf5 for a truck that sold for $410. 😂😂
Now this is something I’m all for right here. I love automatic to manual swaps
manual suck
Craig you can use the hump cover and carpet from a 87-91 and everything will bolt back together flawlessly and your shifter boot will fit nice to as well as the carpet from a 87-91 truck as well

I have an 86 f150 300 4spd 4x4
I’ve loved the coverage of this truck as I have a 86 F150. I feel these trucks aren’t getting much love yet but will in the near future!
Value is gonna go up soon i have a 90 xlt 150
Im in the process of swapping my 3 speed manual out of my 65 f100 to a ZF5, got lucky and found one with a small block bell housing in a pull and save.. best $200 I ever spent.
Ive never seen a floor that clean after so many years. Great stuff!!!
i will guess that the torque converter "ballooned" up and thats why it was contacting the flex plate bolts
I would tend to agree. I had that happen to me years ago with a Turbo 400 I had under a '79 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. That was back about 1989.
Lmao at 6:23 when he was making a "joke" I got sad and wished my truck still had a floor, Currently running on the structural floormats lmao.
1985 was the first year for the EFI F250. My father ordered it, and had to wait months for the EFI 302 to make it to the production line. I still own it, has a factory 4 speed. 64,xxx original miles.

hell ya!
My F100 has the M5ODR2 5 speed. I would rather have the ZF, but as long as it stays together, it’s fine. Better than the 3 speed it came with.
Even being a Chevy guy, I sure do like those bullnose trucks. That thing is nice!!! I’m jealous! Also, I’d guess the converter ballooned
A Bullnose with the iconic Ford Porno Red interior. An absolute classic!!
1/2 ton 300 trucks all had M5ODs. I'd love to find a 4x4 385 series bell housing ZF5 and t case.
Great upgrade with the ZF5 speed. The clutch you will have push fluid up though the slave cylinder to bleed it out. I use a phoenix injector. Save time bleeding the clutch hydraulics

Right right, did 10 of them swap in my life time.and still enjoy it every minute every time every chance I get love it love it!!!!
Great upgrades, Craig. Your grandparents' truck is coming along nicely 👌 😊😊😊😊😊

Banging gears in the bull nose is going to be sick !!! Now a nascar exhaust and call it done !!! . Cheers 🇨🇦
That pedal box is still available from a Ford dealer for like $160.00. Had to replace mine
Same thing happened to my 81 bronco except the c6 lost first and third. Planning to do the same swap, awesome vid
Wish my back would let me wrench again. Buddy In simi had one similar vintage..bought a PAW long block kit, pulled his 351 out fri night, built the engine sat sunday installed and broke the cam in drove it to work Mon morning, ran great for 25 yrs.

I did the same to my 79’ f150 back in 14’ Worked flawlessly till I traded it in 2020.
I'm surprised you had to cut anything. About 15 years ago i put a ZF into an '89 F250 that originally came with a C6 and the doghouse had a bolt on cover. Everything bolted in in fact. I was really impressed how easy they made it on themselves especially compared to the Chevys of that era.
i seriously cant wait to have a 5 or 6 speed in my truck ive got a late model t18 right now and man id really love that(those) extra gear(s) so much
I’d do this to my 93 f150. Have all the parts but don’t want to kill my 93 7.3 idi f350. The manual transmission is good. But just got the cylinder heads I needed for the 7.3. Working on cleaning them up. And getting gaskets
Awesome job. I must know more about this manual swap on a crown Vic.
I love this swap….something I recall from my dim memory is that the hydraulic clutch needed a reinforcement plate on the fire wall because it would crack it. Not sure that applies here, but maybe?

Your videos of this sweet truck have gotten me re inspired to save up and get a bullnose cause I’ve always loved them
on the AOD transmisisons if the output shaft for over drive is snapped, youll loose 3rd and 4th. I learned the hard way
This is awesome. Also conveniently, I'm looking to zf5 swap my 85 6.9. So this was helpful! Mine should be a bit more simple, as it has the t19 4 speed in it already. Keep on grinding. The content is appreciated!
All you have to do is get the cross member for a zf5 and a 12in clutch otherwise it'll have rollover grind noise
Oh man a ZF5... i have been looking for one over a year now ( i don't live in the us)
I bought a 460 to replace my shitty old fe360 in my 1970 F250 4x4 and i didn't think the biggest problem i would have was finding a manual trans. I currently have a np435, but i wanted a 5 speed for better driveability.
Oh well, now i got a tko 600
I hope you're going to get the firewall brace from JBG for the clutch master.
I'm zf5 swapping my 86 f150 as well but mine is a 4x4 so the small block trans was even harder to find.
That’s a good word for that. Builder burnout
You are KILLING IT with content & info. Keep it up. Thanks
Just waiting knowing you’re documenting the holy Jesus out of the galaxy painting. Can’t wait
You're right about that floor OMG lol😂
You need get a Midwest trans short throw shifter for it you will love it! So much better then the factory!
Hurry up and blow the dang engine up......I know you've got it in ya! 😂👌
Woah woah woah im gonna need to see that 4th gen 4runner
Oh you bastard! From Minnesota here and my 97 for is rotted out!
Another amazing video Craig. So knowledgeable....
If you have no plans for the aod let me know and maybe we can work out a deal, great video it will make an awesome work truck.😁👍
Your crushing it ya you need a break buddy Awsome content
Craig, you’re correct. The East Coast and Midwest boys are jealous! I doubt there is a single’86 anything in Indiana with a floor that clean. Wow!
one of the only downsides of living in Indiana😂
I'm in Indiana and my 90 F350 floor looks like shit!
Only one I can think of that I have seen was a 86 f150 300L6 EFI 4spd my uncle redid and painted forest green metallic around 2007 but I would about bet it is starting to rust being in Randolph County Indiana. Thanks for the video! Seems a lot easier than the new ones!
Love your videos man they are the highlight of my day when I see you post a new one especially with the bullnose man keep up the good work
i have a manual tunnel from my 85 i did the samething you did 5 speed swapped it if you were closer id just give it to you!
Thank you for keeping manuals alive and stolen rates down 🤙🏾👌🏾👏🏾
Pretty sure the markings in the converter are from it swelling and pushing agenst the flywheel bolts
*I AM SO FREAKING JELLY OF THAT FLOOR*
Don’t throw that clutch box away😂🕶️
Hell yeah, I had a feeling this was going to happen , since the first episode
That floor was mint
Glad you chose the ZF5S over the Mazda M5R2. Way more heavy duty!
You’re going to need to take out that crossover pipe that’s gonna make the truck overheat real quick the crossover exhaust pipe, so run flow tech headers high flow, cats, black widow maker, 10 series mufflers
Have the same truck with a crossover and zero problems with heat.
You definitely need a lift for that shop. Save the manual. I love it.
30 years ago a lift was $3500. I couldn't afford it! Nowadays a lift is $3500! GO FRICKIN BUY ONE! WHILE YOU ARE YOUNG! Your body will appreciate it! I know. I'm 68 and I'm over it.
Great job young man! Great video!
I want to ride it there this winter and eat rolled tacos while watching you thrash lol
Awe Man, what did I do with my sunglasses 🕶️??!!
I have a 86 f-150 with power door locks I’ve never seen a f-250 with power windows or locks
I never missed a video😎👍
Your gonna throw your sun glasses away, lol.
You should get it rebuilt and have a spare transmission js
My 84 was fuel injected and I hope there’s a tee shirt in the making
Dude clean ass setup cant wait for final completion…i just picked up a 07 crown vic and i wanna manual swap it any recomendations or helpful tips?
Get a trans from a Ford Mustang they used the same engine I think
@@angelmew2492 yea thats what ive been hearing and that the clutch pedal assembly is almost the same but needs minor mods as well
Ive got a 89 f250 long bed 302 manual 4 sp with overdrive and a 78 f150 4 speed
78 is also manual
Save the manuals! 👏👏👏👍😎
Just gonna casually drop that you have a manual Vic? I thought that was someone else’s. That’s a sick car to have.
I think those bolts are factory on the torque convertor? I dont know why , but it seems I've seen that before.
I’m doing so much homework then I see a beautiful notification on my phone
Us Florida boys aren’t jealous we don’t have a missions or inspections if it rolls it’s good
Love your videos, keep it up!
I miss Craig every time he cusses you’ll hear a quack that was funny as hell
Great video !!!
Great job bud...
nice work!
Do you think the pedal box would work in your bumpside? I've got a ZF for my 68
A idi i was bidding on sold today. I stopped bidding because its auto so i didnt wanna go through finding a zf5 for it or spend $1500 for a zf5 for a truck that sold for $410. 😂😂
We are expecting a black widow exhaust with your expertise
Should make a drinking game out of the hair smooth backs. Did it 3 times in one explanation
How much power will that zf5 take I have a bull nose and want to do this swap
Sunglasses gone forever
Great stuff thanks
Can you put your pilot bearing in there
Are you gonna eventually put a lift in your shop?
Also I just realized everything you own is manual except for the Lincoln and Crown vic if you still have it
Sounds like the CV got swapped.
Very nice!
Bolt marks from the converter getting hot and swelling ?
