I have 2 a 1981 and a 1982 FXS. I love that I can make it home 95% of the time if theirs a problem. If they get air, fuel and fire I can make it run. Besides nothing sounds like a Shovel. You all take care and ride safe.
Like you Sayre, I’m not a huge fan of Harleys, but this example is a classic example of an American V-twin. 👍 Equally fascinating is the backdrop of some of the World’s iconic bikes… what a workplace! 😎❤️✅
Nice bike. It looks like it was well cared for by a long-term owner. Yes, they were dated back then, Z1's had been out a couple years. I used to beat Shovelheads on my new Norton Commando, another dated bike! It was fun.
That would be a FXE. If it's kick only it's a FX. The "E" is for electric start. All the sheetmetal on that bike is wrong. The oil tank is wrong. Why is the headlight mounted sideways?
80 was the first 5 speed in the touring, had an 80 Tour Glide(ugly ass fairing that worked well in the cold) and an 85 4 speed FXEF Evo motor, a fun bike
I had a 79 super glide, first year 31/2 split tanks, bought new at local dealership for 4600.00,put kickstarter kit on it, because electronics were terrible, not much power, terrible vibration, got rid of it, and bought a 69 shovel with pan head bottom. Much better bike than the AMF.
Man. Exactly what I hope to get someday. Always on the look out for my birth year Harley. Really cool.

1984 was the last and best Shovel year. Shovels rule!
Love everything about this

I started out on a Norton that was newer than my current Shovel.
Beautiful! Have a 1980 fxb sturgis. Luv them shovels
The sportster lines 78-'79 ish were the most troublesome AMF bikes.. These big twins were good

Thanks for the input!
86 was first 5 speed, 85 was last year of the chain and 4 speed "cowpie"

Headlight bulb is sideways and the dash, HD ⭐️ badge on the tank is not from that model. Oil bag looks aftermarket too.

❤
I had one😊
that's a superglide.
Nice, looks more like a wide glide.
I believe 91 was first 5 speed, or at least on the sportster
But it’s an AMF
Hate the handle barz
