It's honestly a miracle that I fixed my double-click issue with this video. THANK YOU SO MUCH. And it's also a miracle that it turned back on after all the mess I made in the process hahaha. For example, I think I might have damaged a terminal when I was putting the flex cable back... and I ended up with 2 extra screws that I have no idea where they go. But it worked, it's functioning like new. I love this mouse!
Guessing your 2 extra screws were the ones that they never showed in this video. When they pulled out the component at 2:27, there are 2 empty screw spots where my mouse had screws.
@@seb42 ive serviced 2 of these already. I replaced the switches on the first one (mine). Now im trying the WD40 tip. If you are careful, and take the feet mainly with the blade, you can reuse them over and over. If you pry one end and pull, you could deform them, and then you might need to replace them. Never tried to remove them with hot air. Im guessing if you use the correct temperature, it should be really easy to take them out. Too high of a temperature ? Not sure.... xD
Thanks for the disassembly walk through. Honestly with how hard this mouse is to take apart you should probably replace the switch, for a more permanent fix. They use a switch designed for higher voltage, so it ends up going bad pretty quick. Use an Omron DF2-01F for the replacement. They are more expensive, but will last much longer in this application. The button is lighter than the standard, so expect a different feel if you go this route. Tolerances are also very tight, so you if you mount the new button even a bit too high, the click not work correctly. I ended up needing to file down 0.1mm off of the button to get the click to feel right. Side note. There are also 2 coil springs under the mouse wheel that are easy to lose.
From my experience, its not the switch that goes bad, but dust and grime build up that causes interference with clicks. I have two of these mice, and they both developed double click issues around 7-10 months in but once I gave the switches a good clean and some lubrication, the issue was pretty much gone.
Thanks for this video, it's unbelievable how many tiny screws are in this thing, but i was able to fix my intermittent scroll wheel issues (a bit of hair and gunk had gotten in there)
Omg! Thank you SO MUCH! I had a faulty right mouse button for a while. After watching your vid I figured I can stick the little extension stuck underneath the button and reach the doohickey below it. One tiny sprits and it works like a charm again!
Thanks for the video! Saved my mouse from being e-waste, fixed my issue with clicking and dragging working sporadically. I just cleaned out the left click area with some canned air. If it has issues again I'll go back in with the WD-40 as suggested.
I still had double clicking / unable to click-drag after cleaning with canned air. I went back in with WD-40 and it seems like it's working now (an hour of use after WD-40)
I've bought 2 of these. One in 2020 to replace a sturdy G602. The 1st copy riddled with double clicking issue but the most annoying issue is the degradation of the rubberpads. The thumbs, palm crumble in just 8+ months. The broken one I left it for office use and buy the second one for gaming at home with third-party rubberpad cover. So far so good, but right now have scrolling issue. My G602 only got replaced because it started having double clicking after 4 years of being my only mouse for work and gaming. Frustrated with the quality of these mouse. But thank you for the video, will follow the steps to fix this.
Thank you for having the courage to do this teardown, I always find mice to be super daunting. .. I play shooters and when the rightclick works intermittently ... it makes me wanna throw the thing at the nearest wall with all my strength. BUT, I knew it should be relatively straight forward to disassemble and clean.... then i saw all the screws and i was like NOPE.. So thank you for showing me how to get to my right click and clean it up. Logitech screwed me on my warranty anyway ( i had one of the G buttons just FALL OUT ) and they were like, "yeah, our warranty doesn't cover that" ... the bastards... maybe I can try fixing that while i have it apart... Gotta say, using a trackpad to navigate to this video was a real weird experience. anyway, VERY VERY helpful and informative video. I hope you have the best day today :)
For double click issue, NO NEED to open the mouse, just look at this video and pay attention for the left and right click small button location inside the mouse. Than use WD40 CONTACT CLEANER, remember use the CONTACT CLEANER version instead the one used in this video, because the CONTACT CLEANER version is save for electronic device even you spray it a lot. Than use the tiny straw included in the purchasing of the WD40, insert the straw in the gap between the mouse click and the body, you can insert it easily, than spray it once, dont have to worry about to many liquid you sprayed because WD40 CONTACT CLEANER is safe for electronic device and will not make short sircuit. The double click issue solved, at least it worked for me, without open the mouse at all.
31K views! I can't believe Logitech. I've used the G602 for eight years, and went through like 6 of them. The middle mouse being the button that failed the most. Now I'm on my 3rd G604 and the left mouse button is the main problem. The G602 was MUCH easier to open and clean, or swap out buttons, the G604 is not. Anyone reading this, remember that Logitech has a 3 year warranty on these mice (mouses? lol), they're very good about replacing them, but perhaps if more people request replacements, they may finally start using proper buttons! Also, I used to believe it was dirt or particles that get into the switch that cause them to fail, but I opened my mouse and put tape over the buttons in an attempt to avoid future problems, but it didn't help. These buttons are just crap.
I was asking myself the same question last night,i was repairing my mouse (which is much simpler than this, i just clicked on this video cause it looked interesting) and on mine it has the long adhesive pads hiding the screws, i was like "TF? aren't the Playstations that way also? like the old ones?
i see logitech is still overbuilding their crap. it shouldnt be this hard to change a keyswitch. most other mice its once screw and six seconds with a soldering iron.
Not the best video, but being able to see the same mouse from different angles/lighting from multiple videos helps. The first two layers of mouse isn't too bad and I'd recommend that people pay attention to the final bit where the LMB, RMB, Wheel assembly, the Middle Button Springs and those extra posts come out. That's a doozy and should be recorded to look at as the mouse is being disassembled if you're going to replace the switches. Don't lose the springs!
Just had mine warrantied after 1 year ( for LMB double clicking). Nice thing was Logitech just shipped me a new mouse, I only had to do their automated check on their website (and give them the serial number under the battery)
@@IrocZIV Double clicking after 9 months. In my case Logitech told me to buzz off and contact the seller, the seller told me to buzz off and contact the repair service contracted with Logitech. On the plus side, they seem to have done their job replacing or fiddling with the switches properly and I had the mouse without double click in 2 days total. Let's see how long it lasts this time.
The perfect mouse for me, but unfortunately Logitech has already discontinued it, and there's no successor. Additionally, the build is overly complicated, making it difficult to replace parts. The hardest part is that I can't live without the hyperscroll feature, so switching to another brand isn't an option for me. It's disappointing.
My right click has almost completely stopped working, it works about every 20 clicks. Will this help if I clean it? I really love this mouse and I do not want to have to switch :(
There's at least 50 screws in this thing. It isn't that hard to get it apart and change out the main switches (managed to tear a pad off the PCB though) but sooooooo many screws, at least 5 different types!!!

Then 8000 screws inside ez. Wont take a picture and won't forget 1 screw. As I rip off a plastic piece forgeting a screw. Ehh didn't need it anyways. Shoots the main part out of the mouse like a flying missile across the room. Then viciously wipe the scroll wheel with just my hand when I get the clickers off. Slap it back together forgetting to lube up clickers... but with every screw. Even the one I couldn't get in I just left it in there all sideways not screwed in because I couldn't get it out and it got stuck sideways in the hole. I'd show you a picture but we'll kinda can't here. But the only noise comes from the middle mouse wheel when you shake it like it did when it was brand new. Scroll wheel works again. About half of scroll wheel I was getting dead spots. They were consistent were it wouldn't read. But I was so mad when I cleaned it I was ready to throw this thing and just buy a new one. Hence why I just wiped it with my hand. Ps I had a micro fiber cloth sitting next to me on my desk. Anger always wins against mise. If all fails smash it get a new one.

goddammit Logitech, I've disassembled multiple notebooks and none of them had close to the same amount of screws this has. No wonder it's so heavy
Some companies put weights in their mice, Logitech just put more screws in.
Came here thinking I need to solder another switch, but just the WD-40 fix solved the issue. Thanks!
Did you replace the original feet? Or just use mouse without?

I've been wondering the same thing, I hate the G604 scroll wheel. It's so insanely loud and it feels clunky. G602 felt smooth and quiet.
