    Some extra tips:
    1) Use the < and > keys on your keyboard to view frame by frame.
    2) You don't need to pull off the entire bottom pads, just lift where the screw holes are. Be careful to not separate the pad from the adhesive; they are individual layers and you need to get under both (I used a metal wedge tool).
    3) Be careful to not lose those two tiny springs in the front of the mouse.
    4) Organize your screws. Optionally record a video or time-lapse of yourself doing this so you know where each screw came from. I used the iFixIt Starter Tool Kit which has a screw tray with a grid which made it so much easier.
    5) You don't *need* to remove all the solder and use flux, but it helps. I got by with only some extra solder. Adding extra solder helps melt the solder joints easier than heating the OEM solder alone. I wedged tweezers under the old mouse switch to add pressure so when I melted the solder joints it came out. It took a while of slowly pulling each end of the switch until it came out. Be careful to not damage or bend other parts on the board. Putting on the new switches was a similar hassle since I didn't clear out the holes. Use tweezers to clamp the switch onto the board while you melt the new solder joints.
    6) When it's time to reassemble, look at the disassembly section again to help remember where each screw went.
    7) Be careful to tighten the screws near the mouse wheel correctly (not too tight/loose). My wheel button feels too stiff after doing this but I'm not opening it up again lol.
    Thanks so much for the video, it helped a lot.

      @@progressivediy9677 Funny that I've a spare G604 that's still sealed, Will keep it that way until this one is no longer serviceable this is the best mouse I've ever had. Will report after surgery is complete.

    Is there a really tiny spring that is part of the switches? It fell out and onto the floor around 3:40 and now I can't find it.

      Warning - there are actually two springs under the scroll wheel assembly! I found them after crawling around for a few minutes. They are for springing back the middle scroll wheel click. The reassembly shows them clearer.

    Tried it last night. It was a painful process, lost the funny tiny springs, for some reason when i keep the thing that the click latches to it'll get stuck, finally then I reassambled it all. And the new switch doesn't work. I yeeted this mouse straight to the trashbin and bought a simpler designed mouse. Now i will always look for disassembly videos before buying mouse. Missed the fun features but not worth the painful effort of replacing switch, especially as long as logitech mouse still uses these shitty switches
    Thanks for the video though! Would never attempted it without this video

    I am having a problem removing the buttons that adjust the sensitivity. On the left side besides the LMB button. Your video skjip showing that. It should be right after you remove the flexible membrane that are the 6 side buttons. It looks lake it snaps into a socket and you need to pull towards the front of the mouse to pop it out. But I don't want to pull too hard and break something. After removing the membrane, your video shows those buttons removed but not how.

    Do you remember at which temperature you set your soldering machine and what kind of flux you use for desoldering

    Where can I get the schematics for the device? I fucked up while soldering and the switch does not work. May have screwed up the wire connections to the pads.

    • @progressivediy9677
      @progressivediy9677  ปีที่แล้ว

      Why urged for schematics if you can jumpering the nearest wire connection to the switch pin using 0.1mm wire?

    I recently watched an hour long breakdown of why modern Logitech mice have failing switches. They don't have switches designed for the low current they use now. Since the switches are always out of spec they will fail well before their rated fail time.
    That said the G604 has a 2 warranty, and Logitech replaced mine no questions asked, just giving them the serial number.

    • @progressivediy9677
      @progressivediy9677  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, better submit a RMA if still under warranty. Nice info about the low current issue, thank you.

      Mine died a few days after warranty... So for those reading this comment, purchase your peripherals with a credit card that offers extended warranty. AMEX is great and have a friction less online application process (as of today). They basically refund you the purchase price of the device after a few days.

    Do you offer paid services for this? I have 3 604s that need new switches and as much as I would love to attempt this I lack both the tools and the dexterity in the hands.

    Tried replacing the switch but I f*c up the contact pad for the left click. I don't know why these videos always makes desoldering easier than it looks. Thanks for the video, anyway. Also thanks so much, Logitech, for using garbage chinese microswitches, I'm never buying a mouse from Logitech ever again.

      You're welcome bro. When desoldering, you just need flux and a little bit patience. Dont put pressure on the soldering tip.
