Crochet Mitered Modern Granny Blanket Pattern | EASY | The Crochet Crowd

- I hope you enjoy this new twist on the Modern Granny. I've crocheted this project starting in one corner and building it similar to corner to corner technique. You start by building a mitered square, then when you have the preferred width, you continue just working your rows back and forth on one side instead of two. This crochet blanket becomes completely and easily scale-able to any size you desire.
For this project, I used 5 Caron Chunky Cakes in colorway Trifle. The finished size is 46" x 60". You can easily continue on in pattern to either make is wider, longer or both. The Modern Granny block stitch and the #6 weight yarn makes this a fast and easy project. You can use any yarn if you prefer to stripe your project to match your decor.

I just watched the yarn preview on this yarn. Egads, if I buy anymore yarn, I am going to have to add on to my craft room or just buy a new house and live there since my husband will kick me out if I buy more yarn. I really love the colors and want to try this yarn.

Love this!! Can you miter other shapes like rectangles or does it not balance out the way it should?
I was crocheting since I was 7 years old
I started this, undid it, started again, then changed the beginning. Instead of 4 sets of 3 DC, I made mine with 3. So the first block looked like a horseshoe. This allowed the bottom edge to form an "L" shape. From there it built rather quickly. It's kind of a take on a C2C. Making it in primarily red in a argyle pattern and colors with dark gray, green, white and gold rows.
Is their a way to price together smaller squares like u would traditionally granny squares

Would it work up ok if I changed all the ch 3 to ch 2 I'm using mandala and the holes are a little too big for my liking
How many balls if i do a #4 yarn in Caron big cakes?
Will the turning keep it from going spiral? I'm a tight crocheter and haven't messed with the modern granny save for once, and it spiraled. I turn when I do regular grannies and it eliminates the problem altogether, but I'm not sure if the chaining row is too little work to keep it from spiraling in this version.

Very pretty will probably use another yarn and download the pattern and watch the video a million times pauses and slow this is beautiful but you’re going at warp speed I know it’s a simple pattern it’s probably me but I wish you’d slow down without me using the slowdown or pause every minute. Your blankets are awesome though. Sorry to sound critical nothing personal. I know you probably have only a certain amount of video time. Cheers to you💕

Match it to the yarn. Yarn bands always have recommended hook and needle sizes on them. For instance, I'm making this using regular caron cakes. According to the band, the yarn calls for a 5mm hook, so that's what I'm using.
