  • Sometimes the solitude is misjudged as loneliness, and tranquility is misunderstood as boredom - in Camino de Santiago you can learn how to see clearly the difference and fully enjoy the long walks alone!
In this video I use some of my meditation experience as a long time practitioner and teacher and give some easy tips to use in your day to day life, especially if you do the Camino. This happens to be a perfect "battlefield" for everyone who is seeking the better conception with oneself and understanding how the mind works.

I just completed the Camino del Norte on my own a few days ago. I'm a 27 year old woman, never felt unsafe and had no bad experiences, so go for it ladies! doing the camino alone is truly an amazing experience
And you are never really alone on the Camino.

it was really my best time, by myself on the camino. Although i loved meeting people to, on the way. but the walking itself , thats for me :)))) I did the camino Frances in 2018, Did part of it again until Leon last year. This summer i want to walk from Leon to Fin. to Muxia.... When people at home want to join me to the Camino, i can clearly say no . I encourage my friends to go alone . That s the best way.

In a spirit journey everyone is solo. If you prefer not to think then you won't be solo or on the journey. This episode is very nicely edited. Thanks for putting up together such beautiful edition of Camino. In my mind the best part of long walk day by day is meditation.

That day looked absolutely beautiful. In the Camino, as in everyday life, we need our space to think. Naturally our mind goes to the past and the future, not always in the present. It clears the mind to think of the good past, the bad past and the best future. I always preferred to walk alone and empty my mind of the business in life. Meditation doesn't always involve sitting in silence with your legs crossed :)
Congratulations on another great, thoughtful, inspiring video.

Your videos and the ones by Mike Woodrich from Germany inspire me the most. As a 65 year old female of small stature, I know better than to set unreasonable goals. However, I would enjoy traveling without reservations except for my round trip ticket from Atlanta to Paris. Am I crazy? I can afford a more comfortable scenario, but secretly wish for an authentic experience reminiscent of my reckless youth when we took trains and went everywhere in Europe with no smart phone! Best Moira

Great talk about the mind and how it relaxes on the Camino Frances which after completing the Del Norte and Portuguese coastal is my personal favourite way so far and I would like to do again in future. I also did the Kumano Kodo in Japan which is a challenging hike more mountainous but unlike the Spanish and Portuguese caminos is not in a straight line but 3 different paths but worth doing all the same and watch out for the many many snakes along the paths!!
I hope in future to also do the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage.
Just a note at 4.30mins of your vlog you mention "there is more than 15 caminos" the Pilgrim Museum in Santiago beside the Cathedral (free entry with your pilgrim passport in 2017 when I visited) lists 39 different recognised Camino ways for your information.
Looking forward to the next vlog CT - CC.

Ricky, I am thinking of doing the El Camino Frances starting September 7, 2022. I have picked this date because the temperature will be a little cooler and the busy summer season of pilgrims will have eased a bit. Go alone. If part of a group decisions take forever. Inane chatter disturbs your mind. You go at the pace of the slowest or split up causing friction, hanging around etc etc.

Good video - but I am shocked by the utter destruction of the landscape - there is a place for agriculture, but natural fields, woods and meadows have been completely replaced by modern grass monocultures for livestock feeding. Except for the odd little bush in a pile of stones there is no room for nature. Quite sad.
