You can use field codes to create that auto-sequential numbering: th-cam.com/video/ZBzzUS4Cjoc/w-d-xo.html and then make a keyboard shortcut for that template so the whole thing comes up directly every time.
Here is the video on how to set it up: th-cam.com/video/ZBzzUS4Cjoc/w-d-xo.html Once it is set up, you can use this shortcut everytime! If you're already familiar with Word Field Codes, you can skip to part 2: th-cam.com/video/gclYKPBENKE/w-d-xo.html
Sorry for the late reply. Hm, not sure.. Maybe some numlock happening. In any case, you can redefine it to guarantee it working by manually going to Tools > Customise Keyboard > Categories: All Commands > Command: ToolsCustomizeKeyboard, and set up a new shortcut for it to be Command shift 1. Hope this helps!
Not sure.. I have no trouble typing a simple comma. What equation are you trying to type? Do things like standard fractions or exponents work fine? Are you using US keyboard (not sure if other input language keyboard may give different results)?

How do you do command exclamation mark? If I do command shift 1 it just creates the command as that, no exclamation mark.
