What emulator where you using? An you link the ROM?

It's not an emulator. It's the SNES add-on, Super Gameboy 2. It's real hardware and a real cartridge.

I am playing it on a Super Game Boy 2: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Game_Boy (note that the original Super Game Boy isn't used for speedruns since it runs games too fast)

I've only played it on gameboy and the music sounds slightly different (a little lower) on a super game boy 2. Might be how he was recording it

skipping stuff is allowed whether by glitches or other means. anything you can do with a vanilla copy with vanilla control input is allowed.

This is a Super Game Boy?

Super Game Boy 2, which was only released in Japan. The original Super Game Boy runs games faster than a real Game Boy does. The original Super Game Boy can be used, but the gameplay is more challenging since the game is running faster. Furthermore, any runs done on the original have their time converted to match the actual Game Boy framerate, so the runs are harder to perform for no real benefit.

It looks like the run starts as soon as the video begins, although on some of my other videos I've included a few seconds from a previous run before the beginning of the "actual" run.
