    Thank you for your great tutorial, I have an overgrown one and I’m going to use your method. I live in Florida and I just leave mine outside in indirect sun light and it’s been thriving for years, I have blooms this year and it seems like it’s every 4 years or it’s root bound.. they’re definitely a finicky plant.

    I’m surprised by the amount of people who say they’re slow growers. I only grows Hoyas and mine grow very fast. Example my New Guinea ghost put out 6 new leaves and a new shoot in less than a month after potting it from propagating. I also live in Canada and do not use grow lights. Where abouts are you?

    I have had mine for at least 4 months and it isn't doing the best so I checked the roots.
    They're super thin and fragile looking.
    Can I just place them in water to get more roots to grow or strengthen existing roots?

    • @rustynellysjungle3166
      @rustynellysjungle3166  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what we’ve experienced, the best growth happens from green stem, so trust your instincts. If you think giving it a little more time before propagation will give you better success than you are probably correct. It’s hard to know for sure without seeing the plant. Thank you for watching and keep us posted! 🪴🌴🌱🌿😊

    I've had mine in water for almost 2 months and there's still no roots. I change the water every week, it's under a grow light, the temperature stays between 68-72, I even added some rooting hormone. Is it because it's winter? Should I just be patient? The plant was pretty old iirc, but very healthy. I think it's around a decade old, but there was still new growth happening as far as I could tell. Does age have anything to do with it?

    • @rustynellysjungle3166

    • @rustynellysjungle3166
      @rustynellysjungle3166  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We just pot it up. Keep the soil slightly damp for a few weeks so the roots don’t go into shock. As for light, it can stay under the same conditions as your rooting process. In a few weeks you can increase the light :) thx for watching :)

    My Hoyas are huuuuge. Like 6ft long even with the curls and really wide... But they don't bloom anymore. So weird. They used to bloom all over. It's been over 3 years. They still grow like weeds and have been happy but any tips on getting them to bloom? I'm going to take some cuttings and try this. Is it better to do with fresh growth or can I use old growth?

    That was a great video! I just got my first Hoya compacta. One rope is 13” long and the other is 5” long. I think they may be pretty young. Should I wait for them to be a bit older before propagating? I’d like to be able to fill the pot in a bit. Also the soil it came in looks like mostly bark and/or leca. Is that ok? Right now, it is in an eastern NS window. Is that enough light?

    • @rustynellysjungle3166
      @rustynellysjungle3166  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey congrats!! 😊😊 I would at least give it some time to acclimate to its new environment, once it’s settled in go ahead and prop 😊 and yes, that soil sounds good, we normally keep ours in a mixture of orchard bark, hip soil and earthworm compost. They like to dry out a bit between waterings. As for light, as long as it’s getting about 4-6 hours of bright light each day it should be happy. Remember any Hoya would typically grow in an area where they have dappled light and a host plant to climb. 😊😊 happy growing and thanks for watching!
