Wow, thank you very much! I just bought a new 2024 Macbook Pro and noticed how big they are making the trackpads these days compared to older models. I figured it would be worthwhile to make sure I understand its features before plugging in my wireless mouse right away. I frequently spend time in the Finder, selecting hundreds of non-consecutive files/folders, and have had to start the process over when I absent-mindedly drop a finger onto the trackpad. I wish there was a key combo that you could invoke to sticky-grab the items held in the selection so I could stop stressing out over it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone with this particular gripe, but it’s plagued me for years.

The search terms I used to get here were "hate macbook pro trackpad." I still hate it, but this was by far the most useful trackpad tutorial I've come across. All the other ones I found focussed on just a couple of user preferences and did not walk me through what each setting actually does. I changed a bunch of settings based on your excellent demos, so, who knows, maybe I'll hate it less with time. The part that still infuriates me is how easy it is for the pad of the left hand to hit the trackpad and send your cursor away from where you're typing.
Can one use the trackpad features on an extended display from the main display..? I gestures are only working on my main display. Thanks

After the macOS sonoma 14.1.1 I can't bring up the contextual menu even if i press in an empty space in my desktop with 2 fingers and control click doesn't work either.

why is it so hard to understand scrolling?
imagine moving a piece of paper around on a table top, pretty natural I´d say.
then again if you want scrolling to act like a mouse wheel would. you invert it.
