      What color clothing do you recommend wearing outside while you’re painting? I know one artist that always wears an aqua colored shirt and I’ve never asked them why.

    I really enjoy watching the creative process. Perfect videos for those who need to learn how to simplify. I am lost out there with all the leaves, twigs and branches. Need to keep it simple but isn't simple at all. So I appreciate all the tips.

    #1 When light is changing just block in the shadow lights

    Sketching first is a great idea! I understand blocking it in, then putting in the darks. But I tend to get lost in the middle from general to detail. I'm not sure if that's something you can cover, but if you could that's be great!

    Wow love the tip about white shirts, reminds me of working on the camera crew of film sets where the unspoken uniform of choice is a black shirt to reduce any reflections of the camera operator behind the camera. Good stuff!

    I am very new to painting, and would love to attempt a plein air piece, but this would overwhelm me. Suggestions for a smaller piece?

      I would start with a red, blue and yellow + white and pick a simple object outside. Do your best just to observe it. Spend an hour sketching it out on the canvas with your paint, figuring out what will be in light and shadow and then the next hour putting pieces of paint next to each other. Don't worry about how it turns out. You will learn something if you keep your attention focused on the process.

    What medium do you use? I noticed you are able to paint darks over lights without polluting the dark. I’m assuming your medium makes the paint dry quicker??

      Galkyd, it speeds up the drying to almost acrylic speeds

    how do you mix shadow colors and what colors do you use for that.. shadow colors are the most confusing to me..

      All those colors on my palette are used for mixing the shadows colors at some point. I will add a shadow mixing segment to a future video and cover it more in depth. Thanks for the feedback!

      Yes, comment below is correct. Some of the pigments used are toxic and you don't want them to be absorbed through your skin.
