    I feel you... I had a clutch cable break on an old chevette in Guntersville AL... I drove to St. Joe TN with no clutch... matching rpms to change gears... that was the day I really learned how to drive a stick lol.

    Another great video sometimes my 95yj 2.5 will only crank but if I slam the clutch pedal to the floor it starts is there a safety switch somewhere or something I can do to stop that it happens every so often

    Good stuff. My 87 YJ starting to have clutch or trans issue not smooth shifting..

    Love your videos!!! You show everything and that's what is needed!! I'm not having the same issues... Mine is not engaging enough or at all sporadically.. Going to bleed first and go from there. WHat year is yours? Mine has a fuel filter type fitting on the slave, not the clip type like yours.

    My YJ will float gears with out clutch. Gotta time the engine to the transmission. All in the driver feeling it. To down shift simply rev engine in neutral and it will slide in gear.

      You are correct. My Mustang floats gear really easily. My dads TJ floats super easy. My YJ, the syncros are soooo shot!!! It does good to shift correctly using the clutch. Sometimes I got to take off in 2nd, make the Jeep move a little and then down shift quickly into 1st. I've got another transmission for it, just haven't took the time to swap them. I can drive it fine since I'm used to it. Its funny when other people try driving it LOL!

    Thank you. I have opposite problem. Clutch pedal is just hanging after going over speed bump when engaged. Got it in 2nd gear for bump start to get home. I can set clutch pedal where it was and have unsecured way to change gears? How far from pedal you think it may go? I see no problems on line. Its Disconnected inside at firewall, where rubber bell housing attached to firewall down to pedal.

    Great video! I've gone through a few of those clutch master cylinders over the past few years, not fun. My Comanche has a nasty rear main leak too so I'm looking forward to that video lol 👍

      Slave or mater cylinder either one could cause that.

    I’m having an issue with my 92. When it gets warmed up the clutch gets more and more difficult to shift into gear. On the way home the other day, it was slipping and backfiring. I limped it home and 30 minutes later, it was fine. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    How long does it take to bleed a slave cylinder? I was at it for 2 hours and feel like I got no where. Is there a technique I am doing wrong? I have a Pittsburgh brake bleeder kit to syphon out the air. Thoughts? Advice?

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It takes me about 10 minutes. You got to watch the master cylinder fluid cup real close so it doesn't run empty. If it gets even about 3/4 empty is can suck air back into the system. Also with using the brake bleeder kits you have to be careful of it sucking air around the bleeder screw. Take the bleeder screw out and put a little grease around the threads to seal any possibility of air coming around the threads. The old school 2 person method is the guaranteed best for clutches.

    Do you think a bad clutch master cylinder could possibly not retract all the way to release pressure once the pedal is released?

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never seen that happen but I wouldn't say it couldn't happen. Most of the time the master cylinder doesn't work so therefore it doesn't disengage the clutch.

    Do you know if you can use the same clutch master cylinder for a 1990 2.5 or 4.2 yj? I just replaced my clutch disc, pressure plate and throwout bearing in my 1990 4.2 and bought a replacement clutch master cylinder (and hose) that said it was compatible for 2.5 but it ended up fitting in my 4.2. After a bit tho it started leaking and it’s still hard to go into first and reverse gear. I’m not sure if the part is bad or they’re just not compatible? Appreciate any feedback you could give me 🙏🏽

    Has the slave cylinder went out yet? People also complain about internal slaves

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope, its doing just fine. I have another transmission that is external slave. I'll swap it one of these days or when I have too.

    Any way I can contact you? My grandpas having a problem with the clutch where when you press it, it will drop to the floor. He thinks the clutch master cylinder came disconnected with the clutch pedal. Thanks.

    • @treeofliberty4407
      @treeofliberty4407 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you already got her fixed but my guess would be the slave cylinder. I had a problem once where mine went to the floor at a red light. I hopped out and slid under her with a 11 Mike Mike and took the two bolts out, popped the plunger out, compressed it by hand and through it back together. All this before the light changed green. Or maybe it changed green then back to red then green again. Idk...

    Do you still have the transmission.
    And if so would you like to sell it?
