Hi Zach most golfers pull the club which of course causes the club to lose angles. Try pushing it from centre of body! The shaft loads. Here’s the best explanation of this. Take an alignment stick and pull it along the ground grass you’ll notice no bending in the alignment stick. Now grab the end of the stick and push it along the grass. You’ll notice how the alignment stick has loaded. Hogan pushed the club into impact then released it 👍
I'm constantly doing one arm swings. It's my favourite way of exercising restraint and efficiency and mostly the control of sudden impulses to add something where it is not necessary to do so.
Super helpful, thanks! I've been making some tweaks to my swing and was getting less compression and dropped some yards, doing this drill helped me loosen back up and get back to my usual distance.
This is the best TH-cam video on lag and compression ever made. This really does wonders. I have one small criticism. I think we should do away with confusing terms like "trap that ball against the ground". The loft of the club sends it up into the air. The only time you'd actually trap it would be it you were de-lofting a putter an extreme amount.
Golf is a game of feels. You describe what it feels like to you, NOT what is actually happening. Pros do this too. We all do. You cannot listen to golfers literally, you look at their swing to see what the feel they’re talking about ACTUALLY produces.
Great video. I have been dealing with golfers and tennis elbow in my trail arm. You saying is disturbing how much force is coning from the trail hand . And bingo I bet that’s my issue. Going to try a lot of single arm swings. And loosing up the trail hand Thanks for the videos.
YOU ARE EXACTLY CORRECT.....hands do squeeze as hands pass above the ball.....but amateurs squeeze all the time.....long-hitters have VERY STRONG HANDS but they don't SQUEEZE until area of impact..... Timing the squeeze is a big deal..... timing, timing, timing
I kind of disagree if you start the downswing with a push off the inside of right thigh just before you reach the top of the swing. Your grip pressure is going to tjghten, but you want a controlled increase in grip pressure not a quick snatch. I like the to think at the change of directionth, left shoulder is resisting a little, the right shoulder from opening the shoulders to fast. You will should feel a gradual build up of springy tension in your mid and upper back, gradual and contolled is key, then dont release it till about halfway down, then let it fly.
I've faced the fact that I simply can't play this game. Nowadays, I just drop a ball on the green and take a couple of putts then go to the next hole and do the same.
Zach you advocate using one hand swings initially in an attempt to get the correct feeling in the two arms and hands. Clearly when you are swinging with the lead hand the back of the hand leads into impact and when using the trail hand alone the palm of the right hand leads. The question then is when both hands are on the club which hand are you focusing on to deliver impact I.e which is the dominant?
Everyone will get different sensations. It is important to educate both lead and trail hand in an effort to see which one is possibly the culprit, and also to see which one you connect with more. You will notice that great players over the years have explained how they connect with one over the other.
The whole thing is shockingly similar to snapping a towel only your forearm rotation takes the place of the wrists and the body rotation takes the place of the arm.
Very confusing game! Some well known instructors suggested to start with the pull, some suggested to start with right hand and to not using low body to start to prevent slide, ..whatever it works for you and straight is the right one for you.
This guy is very concise about his golf tips. Focuses on only one thing at a time. Thank you.

That is a great practice 👍🏻I do myself all the time too.

Man great to hear it.

Ya it can be a little misleading because the ball is obviously being sent. I believe it is more of what most will feel if done correctly.

Ive been playing along time and you are definately the best at explaning the swing.great stuff Zach👍😊
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video/lesson as most amateurs believe low point should be the ball.
Very true

You are welcome good luck with the elbow.

Hi Zach great video on the downswing should I use both hands or one particular hand kindly advise thanks for your help Jack
Really great tip. Thanks

Thanks for the finest details. Cheers!
My pleasure!

Excellent advice
Glad you think so!

How do you not hit it left when bowing the left wrist at impact? Bowing shuts the face.
Not if you combine it with some shaft lean. This opens the face. Great players have the right combination of both.
Are these videos the same as the class?
All the videos in the Compression clinic our different. These TH-cam videos are mostly an intro and a explanation of why compression is so valuable.
You sound alot like Gregg McHatton
He coached me for 7 years.
@@zachallen3354 he’s the best, taught me the biomechanics and pressure shifts way before social media made it popular- kudos to you 👍

There definitely are alot of thoughts out there.
I have the best impact position in the world until the ball is there.
You are not alone, that stupid ball controls alot of golfers.
No, cheating is faking a tremendous lag while you're are staionary. Fake.
