I appreciate this so much! I try to show underrepresented dark styles since not everyone feels comfortable wearing what we often see or some dark styles dont feel wearble for everyday tasks so I try to show what I can 🖤
As a big fan of yellow, I’d like to add that dusty or pale yellows work really well in all the styles you mentioned for white. Yellow really adds the aged feeling to a haunted doll you found covered in dust in the attic look
another good example of a colorful goth like dita von teese is christing mcconnell! she's definitely into the vintage spooky, more like that 50s housewife that has a dark secret, but her artwork and her diy crafts are so beautiful and macabre!
excited for this! i loove some looks with light colors but dark elements - think ghostly, dusty, or a more mischievous fairy. a lot of this is on your supernatural styles video but ofc i love to get lots of inspiration ❤
Love this!😄🖤 I usually go for jewel tones or earth tones for myself and underestimate neons, so thank you for pointing them out!👍 And as a Mexican American, there's a lot of inspiration in the culture for colorful dark aesthetics that I use too.❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Great video! I'm glad to see the research you put in here. My favorite part was the section on white. I've been hankering to pair a vanilla bean (white) ensemble with some sort of oxblood outerwear and oxidized silver jewelry for a while. My only major note: Metallics. Metallics can slot into a number of dark aesthetics, be they romantic Goth, futuristic (as in Blade Runner), or cyberpunk. Examples of combos run the gamut: Black and champagne, navy blue and platinum, etc., etc. (One of my personal favorites is espresso brown and bronze. Although midnight blue and burnished gold together are ~chef's kiss~.) Again, thank you for the video!
Agreed! Metallics and the power of the different effects silver, gold etc can have on dark looks! For now, my Dystopian Dark Styles might interest you since I discuss Cyber styles and the power of chrome in it, but also brass & copper for Apocalyptic fashion
@@silkymochi I rarely see this discussed, but yes. I am firmly in the camp of "a little shimmer isn't always a bad thing", doubly so for dark looks. I'll be sure to check out that series!
As someone who always wears black, this was actually really informative and maaybeee I'm convinced to add more color to my wardrobe. As always, you're amazing. 🖤
Thank you my lovely friend! Your beautiful crochet work is a great start, I love the bloody reds and greens you use so I can see it being used in that way
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for ever since I realized that I’m a soft autumn in the color seasons system and I couldn’t just change my whole aesthetic because of it but I still wanted to look my best especially in interviews and formal events while being true to my authentic style
Love all the inspiration, but most of all your blouse! I don't believe in copying, but I would totally wear it. As a dark winter who feels to old now for wearing full goth club attire 24/7 like I did in my 20s, mixing black with colour has been my thing for the last 10 years. So this inspo is absolutely 😍🥳🖤💜💙💚💥
Dark Green is a staple motif (probably even my signature) motif in my personal style. As opposite of an Alternative Look the True Spring Color Palette (my color palette) is, Dark Green is in there and it really does work. I’d say it also works with the heavy Sagittarius and Capricorn placements (and Scorpio Midheaven) I have in my birth chart. For years, the colors I wore weren’t True Spring at all. But I was quite partial to Dark Green though. So learning that Dark Green worked for True Spring was such a relief! I’d even say that Dark Green has a significance for my life also (Summer vacations in the forest, my preference to city life, the College I went to, but also symbolizing my strong willpower, my slight deviation from the peers of where I’m from, and even Envy being an obstacle for me many times). It helps even more that my eyes are literally Dark Green, and it helps even more that I’ve recently been dying my hair Ginger, as Ginger Hair and Green is a match made in heaven! So basically looking like the long lost cousin of Nicole Kidman’s character in Practical Magic is my vibe lmao.
Liked immediately 🖤 your videos never disappoint! Personally I like mixing in burgundy or nice swampy greens, ox blood red or ruddy browns from time to time with black. Can’t wait to see your take on color!
Love this, it’s so helpful!! I’m a soft autumn and like to wear what I call desaturated goth 😂 a ton of mossy greens and smoky viridian, stonewashed charcoal. I find by focusing on the design details like stonewashed/faded fabrics, lace, long silhouettes, monochromatic outfits, and jewelry with moon/vampiric/cryptid motifs, I can still get my gothic fix. I have curly golden brown hair and adding curly baby bangs helped too!
Again, I love the Dita Von Teese references as well as the many images shown. Indeed. Also that other subculture's fashion choices, such as Neo Rockabilly, Psychobilly imagery plus traditional late '70s Punk had fashion items highlighted. Like you, I sometimes feel that modern day Gothic fashion can truly "spice things up" (if ya will) to include some of their style decisions as well, if a person so chooses. Once again your video was wonderfully presented & perfectly paced my super talented friend. Keep these comin'! 🦇🐈⬛🖤🎃
Mad Max Fury Road gives off Dark post-Apocalypse. I think Rust is a great way to incorporate orange. Also love all the recommendations to other content creators and brands 🖤
All of these examples were perfection! I did a bit of a Whimsigoth aesthetic for my wedding dress. I never feel that I look my best in white so I didn't even try. I found a beautiful sapphire blue gown and layered a gold lace and chain harness over it. I'm surprised that I didn't wear black but I felt like it was a special occasion and it required a color that I don't normally wear. I was desperately trying to find a ruby red but in 2021 things were so tough to find and in person shopping wasn't a comfortable thing. The blue was definitely a vibe.
I'm so lucky I found you! I'm a Bright Winter and I was crazy searching for someone that talk about color season for darker/alternative aesthetics. I love black but my season needs some bright colors, not to mention that I was missing some colors on my wardrobe. Please, do a Winter Season video, please. I love your content! 🖤
I really appreciate you talking about this, topic the black is obviously my number one, it's nice to hear about other colors and how to incorporate them in dark Aesthetics.
I feel like yellow can be a very good colour to have, depending on the look.A washed out yellow will give a sickly, antique vibe Whereas a brighter, more neon yellow is associated with warning signs and danger.
Wonderful video per usual, Melissa! I usually wear black widow/ladybug colors (black, red, and white in that in that order of preference), but I will wear dark blue, dark purple, and dark green as a contrast color on days where I don't want to wear red. I love that you include examples of real life/normal people inspirations and not just celebrities as examples!
I love a red/black moment! Ive been incorporating red more into my life even aside from clothes and lip colors like my phone case and keychains lol And thank you for noticing I try to diversify my muse lists, sometimes it is easier to use celebrities because they're public information but I love to use my friends or irl people when I can
This has helped me a lot! I'm a huge 60s mod/psychedelic fashion junkie but struggle to mix it with my goth style. Focusing on cool tones has helped me a lot on this
I really love your content, they're so inspirational!! It would be a dream if you could give personal makeover or something like that. Literally, I would buy it all!! (sorry for my poor english)🖤💞
So excited for this video! I wear mostly black but I love wearing purple green and red so much. Blue is harder for me so I’m excited to see what inspiration you can provide.
Then maybe don't watch my videos? Also aesthetic existed as a term outside of the internet, it was heavily used & studied when I was in art school. If the term bothers you that much then maybe you need a break from the internet
Just saying "aesthetic" was used a lot in my art high school and college classes. Again, getting aggravated over a word is an indication you should take a break from the internet. This is such a minor thing to get heated up about
you are killing with these dark aesthetics!
i love that they are not copy paste of whats already on the internet you are adding your spin on it
I appreciate this so much! I try to show underrepresented dark styles since not everyone feels comfortable wearing what we often see or some dark styles dont feel wearble for everyday tasks so I try to show what I can 🖤

I just feel like you’re so smart, like genuinely you have no idea how impactful the work you do is.
This is the sweetest, you made my day 🖤 honestly it's just a lot of research and nerding out about styles I can't get out of my head lol
Same exact thing I'm thinking/feeling.

I love Christine McConnell! Saving me gushing about her gorgeous my home decor video 🖤
I love neon pink (a little on the cooler side) as an accent color to black. Thank you for the inspiration 🖤 🩷 🖤
Aww thank you for watching! And yes, I feel like there was even more pink inspirations I could've discussed if I had more time!
excited for this! i loove some looks with light colors but dark elements - think ghostly, dusty, or a more mischievous fairy. a lot of this is on your supernatural styles video but ofc i love to get lots of inspiration ❤
I actually do reference back to that video quite a lot here! Red for the vampire, white for haunted doll and oranges for my Dystopian style video 🖤
I'm so into looking like a disney villain so I wear lots of greens, purples and reds along with black ❤
Omg same! Also hint hint at what my next video is 👀
Me too! The longer I live, I realize that most of my style icons are a mix of Disney villainesses, drag queens, and goth muses.
Love this!😄🖤
I usually go for jewel tones or earth tones for myself and underestimate neons, so thank you for pointing them out!👍

Yes! Absolutely incorporate your Mexican American culture, all the more your outfits will be so so personal 🖤
team purple 🖤💜🤍 especially in a gray tone :]
absolutely love that yellow on Angelina Jolie tho💛 it looks so subtle and cool on her

I loooooove green! So many ways to style it too!
Morute and dolls are also great inspirations for both Pink and white colors

Aww thank you! I try to link everything I'm wearing and the lipstick in my description if you're ever curious!
Thank you ❤ from a deep autumn who can't pull off full on black looks without looking sickly ot feeling blurry
I'm so glad this resonated with you! 🖤

Yes! I know she can be quite pricey so I frequently look for her stuff when I'm depop or mercari and I even found a top of hers on ebay!

Same! Same boat lol

I included Mad Max in my previous Dark Apocalyptic fashion video 🖤
And thank you! Try to highlight my friends or small creators when I can
Great video per usual 🖤 You should consider doing a decor series. I think you would kill it!
Thank you! I've done an astrology home decor series but have yet to do dark aesthetic home decor 👀 I'm putting it on the list!
