I think this might be my favorite of your reviews so far-- I appreciate the confirmation that you, too, are a BatNipple Apologist, but I also could not stop giggling at the story of your attempt to see Lost Boys in theatres, because a) my underage friends and I did the same thing with Troy and Shrek 2 in the early 2000's, and b) my mother (who was born in '62) has always professed an affection for Lost Boys, and now I'm questioning under what circumstances she ended up seeing it in theatres. Anyway, both the movie and the review were a ton of fun! Looking forward to more.
I pick Fright Night as being the best vampire flick of the 80's.... I can't help it, I'm into the camp...lol! But I also love the make-up work and the salute to the old horror VJs... And Chris Sarandan playing Jerry Dandridge was just awesome . Ya almost wanted to be him.... Anyhow, when it comes to the old VJs I remember out here in the Philly area we had Stella and Saturday Night Dead from 1984 to 1990. I used to love that show. So seeing Roddy McDowell play Peter Vincent just added an extra special something to that to it. It's one of those movies I can watch over and over again and never get bored of it. I've probably seen it somewhere near 30 times. I'm a nostalgia junky, what can I say...😂
One of my favorite movies still to this day. I really felt with the sequels (that you said you didn't watch) really dropped the ball. I actually own both and got them rather cheap for like $1 or $2 so couldn't resist. Watched them once and that was enough. They felt very low on the production side of things and always thought a sequel could very easily be made with Jason Patric and Jami Gertz reprising their roles only this time as the parents of the "Boys" From checking out your playlist seems like us Gen-Xers stick together in our entertainment tastes. Again I am glad I found your channel.
I think the other leftover artifact from the Peter Pan connection (besides the title Lost Boys) is the name of the dog. In Peter Pan it was Nana and in Lost Boys it was Nanuck… think I remember hearing that was an intentional decision.
The books on her shelf look different. Also, The Lost Boys was never a favorite of mine. But I do dig all Morgan's reviews if only to find a Miami Vice reference.
I read a good book about 80s movies that summed up Lost Boys pretty well. "All style, no substance." I still love it though. First day of 4th grade our new teacher had us fill out a thing about stuff we did over the summer, under "favorite movie" I wanted to put Lost Boys but I was afraid I'd be in trouble or looked at weird or something because I was so young so I made up some other movie. Then I saw the kid next to me put Lost Boys for his answer and I got pissed at myself.
I remember doing those sorta surveys in elementary school back then. I lied about my favorite ice cream on one. The girl I had a crush on liked a different flavor. So i switched mine to that flavor. It was only like 2nd grade. But I remember clear as day. Even remember her name and her twin sister. Jen and Melissa Wagner!
The frog brothers are basically _The Lone Gunmen_ from _The X Files_ without any of the charm. I'm not a fan of the frog brothers and I am of the Lone Gunmen. Those guys were great.
No young male would have had a Rob Lowe poster on their wall. Jami Gertz maybe, but not Rob Lowe. Still funny though...lol! I personally had a bunch of lava lamps, black light posters, and neon glow spray paint all over my room. With Christmas lights lining the ceiling/wall border....lol!😆 Took a lot of hallucinogenics in my teens.
You've got some good books and graphic novels behind you!
This was a much watch when I was a kid. And the "all the damn vampires" line is one of the best in film history.
Morgan, you always have great in-depth reviews! Love your stuff on Miami Vice. You deserve more subscribers. Please keep doing your videos!

She would have been 25, did you mean 1972?
These are great! Thank you.

Lost Boys followed by Buckaroo...
"Mamma, I'm home." (And yes, that IS Romancing the Stone).
I also wonder how many people have actually gotten carded and/or refused at movie theaters? I'm surprised any theater manager would even care.

Billie Worth. Mmmm…. He was a vivid presence in many of my feverish teenage dreams. Yes. You can absolutely bite my neck! 🩸
