That was a beautiful episode. I was in tears while your parents read their newspapers. So good to see a young man show emotion. Makes you a real ma. Stephen, you are a star.
hi i'm literally on the brink of tears bc this is the first time i've seen malaysian cuisine on an internet cooking show and this makes me unbelievably happy!!! these are all foods i eat on a daily basis, and seeing another malaysian create these meals with such love and care makes my heart so warm (the way i got so excited when steven mentioned rendang and kaya toast lolbye)
I know right?! This made me so proud that finally we're represented even if it's for our food which is always good. I'm proud to be a Malaysian. When I went to Australia for my Master's degree, I missed the mamak shops, and the road side aunties selling the kuih, nasi lemak bungkus and Mihun goreng the most.
the part where they read out the newspapers had me sobbing like a little baby! stevens parents are honestly the sweetest, and funniest people, he was obviously raised with so much love!

I learnt very quickly that I had to taste as I go, and so, you end up with the "sense" and "feeling" of when it is right. Rely on the power of your ancestors.....
This is my first time watching Dish Granted, and I never expected to tear up at the pure sincerity and wholesomeness of it all. But don't think I didn't notice that, when they were eating, the same music as Believe Me Maizie from the Hotdaga was playing in the background. I am cursed to recognise it always

Clicked like even before finishing watching the whole thing because I know I'm gonna like it. Steven cooking the nasi lemak and rendang made me realize, that yes, Malaysian cooking is labor intensive. His kitchen looks like how my kitchen usually look like when I cook rendang. My mom taught me to just blend the stuff though because she ain't got no time for all the hassle haha.

Love how dressed up his parents got for the zoom call 😭😭💖
As Malaysian myself, this episode felt personal to me, it hit right at home and I'm proud Steven brought it into this show. Maybe there tears in my eyes when watching this aha.
Still a 300$+ is a bit too pricery sir, 😂😂 I found it funny
Must have been the two steaks
@@hgdellinger And caviar
That was a beautiful episode. I was in tears while your parents read their newspapers. So good to see a young man show emotion. Makes you a real ma. Stephen, you are a star.
hi i'm literally on the brink of tears bc this is the first time i've seen malaysian cuisine on an internet cooking show and this makes me unbelievably happy!!! these are all foods i eat on a daily basis, and seeing another malaysian create these meals with such love and care makes my heart so warm (the way i got so excited when steven mentioned rendang and kaya toast lolbye)
Honeslty I’d never seen these dishes before, but now… I crave them. They look so good!! Steven seriously outdid himself again
The coconut doesn't fall far from the tree, Steven is sweet just like his parents ♡
Who's cutting onions? 😭This was such a great episode. The personal touches and the love he put into the dish shows how much he loves his parents.
Gay
Can we all appreciate the fact that this fella never disappointed us with his content 🤗
🤗🤗🤗
Indeed. Anyone whos watched Steven in Worth It already know to expect that from him.
Dish Granted was an awesome show (I really hope that we'll see more seasons of it), but I have to say, that this was my favorite episode. The love and respect between Steven and his parents was a beautiful thing.
I love how his mom linked arms with his dad. They're so in love
22:23 I love how "beleive me mazie" soundtrack plays while steven's family have a wholesome moment.
uh i thought you were teasing but it literally is omg
Yes! I'm not the only one who noticed!
I had to rewind that part and watch it again cuz I was too busy singing 💀
I teared up when your parents started reading their letters. What a sweet episode! And a wonderful memory made that will last forever. I believe I will call my parents now
Steven: 130 dollars
Steven's mom: Can I get the money back?
Most relatable Malaysian thing ever
omg steven’s parents are like the embodiment of love their interactions are so precious 😭😭 I think this is my favorite episode from this series
"it make you realize how much time your spent.. making food for you"
yep. bukan main basuh - season - gaul - campak dalam oven. numis bagai tp sedap tak boleh lawan la flavour rainbow dia!
steve's mom eating nasi lemak by hand is real mvp. steven, your parents are very positive, supportive, sweet, and cool. now i know where your good traits are from
I love how his Dad talked about his father... "Daddy lived near the beach"...just so adorable to me
He referred himself as daddy, he was not talking about his dad but himself
Wtf Steven!!! I did NOT expect to be crying into my flat white and missing my parents while watching this episode!! 😭😂 Thank you for sharing and you definitely nailed the love language of Asian families - feeding your loved ones home cooked meals. 💗
When his dad started crying, I started crying.. you can tell Steven comes from a great family. I love this episode ❤️
It’s episodes like this that brought me to subscribe to Watcher and I just love how much heart and soul this man puts into his episodes-he is making the world a better place one episode at a time ❤️🩹
"I love Steven, I'll love his parents"
3 minutes in: "I love theeem so much!"
I straight up cried watching this - sooooo very precious. Also was shocked to realize Steven is a lefty! I can’t believe it took me so long to notice. What a lovely way to honor your parents and your heritage!
Steven's parents are so cute!! I love how they got all dressed up
"how long should i wash the rice?" "until it's ready"
any asian culinary advice from parents are always until it FEELS right.
honesty tru
I'm not even Asian and this is my culinary advice 😂 my poor partner is trying to learn to cook from me and always gets frustrated 😂😂
and NO measurements too!!! just what feels right😭😭
Till all our ancestors say stop
agak-agak all the way
I learnt very quickly that I had to taste as I go, and so, you end up with the "sense" and "feeling" of when it is right.
His parents are clearly still in love with each other. Extremely beautiful to see.
Hands down the best episode ever. I love Steven’s parents and I love how much he loves them.
Wow I love how embracing and showing of love his parents are! Idk if all Malaysian parents are more like this, but it stands out in much of Asian communities….in a great way. They seem so lovely! ❤️❤️
_After recently having lost both my parents-- it's humbling to see these proud parents. Very heartwarming episode. It makes me have hope of starting my own family and it actually staying together_
i wish you good fortune, strength and love throughout your journey❤️
Both of these comments brought tears to my eyes! You both restored my faith in humanity ❤
this episode is actively making me cry. His relationship with his parents is something i hope to be able to maintain in the coming years.
16:13 Oh Adam Liaw! He's a celebrity chef here in Australia (he won MasterChef) and he's just such a genuinely nice guy. He really matches the vibe of Dish Granted, and it’s the little details like that that really make this show!
Ikr! So excited when I saw Adam's name, that man has some really cool recipes!
As a Singaporean, I am loving the wonderfully familiar accents of Dr. & Mrs. Lim!
Aww, this is so sweet. I'm really glad Steven got to share a little piece of his childhood with all of us and his parents
Watching Steven and his parents interact brought a tear to my eye. If all parents have the same relationship with their kids as this family the world would be a different place.
steven im already in tears at the title!!! i recently moved out and i miss my parents so much so seeing you do this for yours is such a balm to my heart!!!❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
listen i was in tears when we saw the newspapers BUT THEN THEY STARTED PLAYING PLUPPLE HONEYMOON? WHAT?
This is my favorite episode! Love the Lim Fam! The love they have for each other is palatable and I can't get enough of it!
this episode was so precious and wholesome i can’t even put it in words. i’m definitely not a crier, but when they were all eating together and when steven’s parents read the newspaper, i cried. i’m so grateful for dish granted and for the fact that steven chose to share all these amazing experiences with us.
yeah… i’m crying again.
Steven's parents' malaysian accent makes me so homesick,,,,, and the choice of nasi lemak 😭😭❤️
I’M SO GLAD SOMEONE POINTED THIS OUT HSHSHSHSHSH when i heard it i got reminded of chinese uncles in malaysia 😭😭😭😭
Seeing Steven's dad get emotional over the letter made me cry. I was always by my father taught that crying solves nothing and does nothing, thus I should never cry.
His parents are such wonderful role models!
It made me smile to see Steven’s mom eating with her hands. I always associate with Filipino culture as we commonly eat with our hands and also on banana leaves.
