  • Printed with Colorfabb xt with 0.1mm layers @ ~50mm/s.
    245 °C hotend and 70 °C build plate.
    Took around 20 hours to print.
    Design: www.thingiverse.com/thing:912478
    There was quite a bit of stringing, but a round with the heat gun it should be much better.
    Pictures taken with GoPro 4
    Music: I had to change the music after demands from the copyright holder. I find that kind of strange since they got all the ad revenue from this video in the first place. But I guess the music industry works in mysterious ways.

    Godammit.
    Finally, someone who shows without a two hour introduction of what made them choose to 3D print and the history of 3D printing and why it's the future and everything amazing that can be done with it and all the different models and bits and pieces and accessories and how it's built and functions and some comparisons and prices and why it's so fantastic and why we should get into it.
    Except for the music that could be a little bit better, thank you for this video.

    can you create your own model?And how?
    do you have for example a visual programm like painting for example or you have to be programmer?

    • @vegasti
      @vegasti  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can basically print any 3d model. You need to slice the 3d model into layers and lines that the 3d printer can follow when printing. It's a pretty easy process, but it helps to not be technically retarded.
      There are many good and free modeling programs out there that can be used to make models for printing. Some are easy to learn, but might be limiting if you want to make something more complex. Other programs can have tonnes of features and can make everything you can dream up, but might be harder to learn. But you don't need to be a programmer to do 3d modeling (it can help though). Most of it visual work with practice and experience.

    That was really cool and the first time I've ever seen anything like that. That said, how much do these machines cost and do you need to be a computer wiz to figure it out? It looks very complex but I'd LOVE, LOVE to have on. I'm guessing there a few grand but most important isn't the cost as much as the time it took you to get that good at making figures?? lol Please add more, I'll definitely be keeping an eye open for your videos.

    • @vegasti
      @vegasti  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! My ultimaker 2 extended costs €2495 before tax, but there are much cheaper prebuilt printers that costs much less, but probably have a smaller print volume, no heated print bed, slower printing speed, etc. I think they go as low as $400-500 for a decent printer. You have to make compromises when choosing a printer, like with anything really. There are thousands of models available for free on sites like www.thingiverse.com. And to print those its almost as easy as printing a document on word. You get a few failed prints and learn from those. But if you want to make your own custom models it requires some more tinkering and learning. But there are many good free, and well documented softwares out there. I would say that if you want to make more complex models you might need to be a computer wiz as you said :) Yeah, I will definitely add more videos as soon as I have time!

    How many meters of filament do you think it took to make?

    • @vegasti
      @vegasti  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think it's around 100 grams with plastic. Not sure how many meters with 3mm filament that is. But with a 750g spool of filament that would be 100g / 750g * 100 = 13.33 % of a 750g colorfabb xt spool which costs €40 and that would make this print cost: 13.33% * €40 / 100 = €5.33. Colorfabb is one of the most expensive plastics you can get, but I like the result I get with it.

      1) this one I don't know but my ender 3 (best for beginners) cost under £200
      2) there are many different types of filament pla is the most common and for 1kg it's around £20 for reference this print was probably around >200g
      3) first you get a model from the internet you can just Google X 3d model and one will probably come up then open a software called cura it's a bit tricky to discribe without dragging on but it's easy then stick it on a SD card and it can be printed
      4) yeah just do your research before hand
      5) this one is a ultimater bit those are a bit pricy and aren't really worth it

      Think it was around $2000. You can probably find much cheaper and better printers now.

    What material are 3-D printed things made out of?

      Plastic mostly, most of it is corn based, so it breaks down. But you can also print with nylon and other types. More advanced printers can even print with metal.

    We’re you printing at .25 speed? It might take longer but next time try .1 speed. Sorry my English isn’t very good
