Marcel, I thoroughly enjoy all of your TH-cam instructional videos and I’m glad to see that you are getting the support you deserve! As soon as the budget calls for it I may be signing up for lessons as well. Thank you for all you do!

The downstrokes on the chords are to demonstrate he's not only feeling blue, but he's also feeling a little down. ;) Excellent video as always!

Tony Rice invented the blue note just so he could play it with a downstroke.

Great stuff Marcel! I'm learning a lot but I also tense up whenever you talk about music theory! I'll get over it!

Great stuff, thanks! But why is the capo on first fret? Is your guitar tuned down a 1/2 note? (Apologies if this question was already asked.)

    • @LessonsWithMarcel

Tony Rice plays the song with a capo on 1st fret! It's definitely a little rare to see capo 1st fret in bluegrass but there's no other instruments on this record. Tony probably just liked singing it there better!

Hey Marcel! Does string size affect the speed?

Hey David, just got finished teaching for the day and saw your message! Looks like you sent me an email on Friday and I generally don't answer messages over the weekend (girlfriends orders). Now that it's Monday I hope you haven't soured on lessons too much because I'm answering your email now! Sorry for the wait!

You needed a reply immediately so you can learn guitar asap? Lol. That isn't how learning an instrument works. You'll need waaaayy more patience.
