Best wishes for the future Mick, absolute legend of the game who's done it all and it's great to still have you on the scene in any capacity, be it competing or creating coaching content.

Brilliant update video there buddy giving us all an update on things. And I'm sure this possible challenge match with Tom will have the punters buzzing at the thought of it. I know I and all my fellow pool pals would love to see it happen. Especially as you say done right, in a proper venue under the right conditions. Good luck getting it on and good luck in the future. The china vlog was also good content and something a bit different 😊 mibee some of your practice routines would be interesting to see especially ones from when you were starting out.

Sad to hear but you certainly have your priorities right.
Hoping you do more than the 1 tour back to Oz. I know we'd love to have you back in the West which I hear isn't planned for your next visit. The players in our association absolutely loved the night and looking forward to a return visit whenever that may be.

Very sincere video and nothing but respect for you Mick.
I love how you explain the game, your terminology is superb. Mental health comes first, I myself have been struggling a bit and have decided to knock a lot of the game on the head for a while to focus on myself. You are and always will be a true legend of the game, a true joy to watch and hope you keep up with the coaching. I would love to learn the game the way you see it.

Really great video Mick thanks for sharing. I actually watched you lose a money match to Ronan Mcarthy in Kentish Town London maybe 20+ years ago now(?). I’d already seen you play up in Yarmouth so I knew you were top class. You seemed very subdued that day. Maybe the rules suited Ronan more too. Dunno… it stuck with me anyway. Now hearing how you feel about cash games maybe also goes along way to explaining it. Anyways… thanks again for the videos and all the best for the future.

Unfortunately I dry broke and that was that, Mick. If my memory serves me right it was only a Middlesbrough footballer that beat you all night. One of Hignetts pals I think. On a side note do you see much of Stu Green these days? One of the nicest people in and out of pool I’ve ever met..

From 18 until about my mid 20’s I got up to no good, boozing and all sorts, I loved pool but lacked the confidence and the will to even attempt going on a tour or even compete locally just played my pals. The booze took its toll mentally and was in a very dark place, 3 years ago my daughter was born and part of the mental health recovery was to find something you love and work at it, and I remember watching you in a world final 2019 possibly? And it clicked I bought a cue, began practicing, got a loan and bought a table and was lucky to get on the challenger tour and play in my first event this year Love it. Tough like, not like playing my mates on a Saturday night 😂 but I love the routine of practice, I love the challenge, and each day we improve..better than the booze and other stuff…love the channel, the parallel shift changed my life 😂 all the best Mick, I’ve seen you around the events in Blackpool always happy to speak to anyone 👍 keep inspiring.

I’d pay to watch that match, money is irrelevant, it is not why anybody starts to play this game. I would love to hear your thoughts on the history and development of the game and the personalities / professionals that played their part in that. I saw Quinten play in Blackpool - what a talent. Another great v-log! A couple of book deals maybe - much we would love to learn!

It’s great to see you in such a comfortable place Mick. We haven’t spoken for a while, prob since you left the IPA around 2013… very sorry to hear you’ve struggled mentally. That’s tough, nobody deserves that.
The ultimate pool stuff is great but the the format and tables feel like it’s too open for the best to be winning consistently. That’s got to be a frustration and I hope the difficulty presented by Chinese 8 ball will give you the edge a class player such as yourself deserves.
Spend some great time with your little girl and make some amazing memories.
    Take care, Dan

Unfortunately, the Storry vs Ali match made money matches seem yobbish. None of which the blame is on the players but the bottle been trowm on the table was terrible. Shame to hear you wont be playing so much but family and yourself first. Look forwardnto seeing you play Tom. What a game that will be. Hi Mick, first of all I totally agree with everything you said, and I totally understand that you have to think of your family first. I know this from the professional sport I was involved in when I was much younger so totally get what you are saying there. I also agree with you not playing the English and concentrating on one form of cue sports, I watch a lot and am into nine ball, and I always thought that if Chris Melling just concentrated on that one sport alone he would be much better at it and would have gotten further into these top tournaments just by playing that one alone. However good a cueist you are I truly believe you have to put everything you have into just one of them and not try to play in two or more discipline’s if that makes sense 🤷‍♂️ I do honestly believe that. So I wish you all the best in whatever you do Mick and will support your channel on your journeys. Thanks for doing these by the way, I am learning a lot. All the very best. Keith.

Thanks for sharing this message mick. As an idea of another video....can you explain what the difference is between your game playing on the green supreme cloths vs the newer super fine cloths. You seemed unstoppable on the green cloths and everyone was miles behind. Does the more fine cloth make the game more of a leveler. If so what is it about the new cloths that levels the field more.

Looking for info from any1 who plays in a pool league,we currently play a format in our local league of how many frames are won to decide who wins the league so eg we play 5 players & 3 frames,so if a team win 15-0 they get 15pts this has resulted that the best teams can b 30pts ahead in 2 matches, also a team can win every game all season 8-7 & still lose the league which seems unfair.
Do anyone else in there leagues use a different format or any ideas to make it closer & more fair at the end of the season b interested to no if there any different formats to play this cheers👍

    • @picpocpo
      @picpocpo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

We play best of 15 with frame difference counting. 2 points for a win, but you get a bonus point if your team registers 10 or more frames.

    • @Jo3yW

Up until last season on Thursdays we played 15 frames, 2 points for a win. Places decided on points, then frames, then head to head. The Monday league was slightly different, still 2 points for a win, 1 point for each frame won, so a team losing 8-7 would still get 7 points, making the league a lot closer, and every frame count for more.
Next season we switch from world rules to international, with a 45s shot clock, and best of 19 frames.
