Like, knowing them as we do, and seeing how they act later in the video, it's not that they're betting their pants thinking they'll win, it's just that they like taking their pants off, and this is a fun way to do it.
Yup, she legit started ordering them to step aside, or give her space. But eventually she did relax and guys learned to move out of her way and distract her from a distance.
Her face says it all at 16:46 when they were cheering and admiring her killer shot. It really warmed my heart ❤️
Yeah and the way they were cheering her on and in awe of her skills so full-heartedly must have been such a pleasant surprise for her. Sad that it's probably surprise to her, but still so heartwarming. 🤗
She played considerably well considering how much they were talking and trying to distract her. People in poolhalls take those kind of distractions extremely seriously.

As someone who loves playing people, concentration is a huge part of the game. Even in professional matches, its bad form to make noise in the audience when someone is making their shot. You cheer after they make it.

Okay but can we appreciate just how cool she is? She was open to meeting and playing the try guys despite facing sexism/misogyny in the past, she gave them tips even though they were her opponents and she only lost when she had the most impediments possible. She knows the table so well, and can literally hit the ball into whatever pocket she wants just like that. She spent hours everyday putting in the hard work for 10 years. And despite being retired, she's still got it. I have mad respect for her. Also kudos to the guys for acknowledging and praising her instead of looking down on her just because she's a woman. I love that they don't have fragile masculinity. We need more of that in this world.

I want to applaud whoever does the casting of these “4 vs 1” episodes. All the experts have been hilarious, super patient, masters of their craft, and so diverse! Melissa was fantastic in this and the guys looked like they had a great time. PS: Mustache season in the Try Guys is like pumpkin spice season, so fleeting, and to be savored.

I love that, no matter how badly the guys are losing, they get so excited to watch somebody else be good at their thing.
When Melissa was saying that all the men she plays always assume they can beat her because she’s a woman, I got really glad that this time she was playing the try guys. Every time they cheered for her, complimented her or expressed how incredible her skills are I just got even more glad. The guys always respect their guests and the pros are always so great!

Yep, theyre super decent guys I love them very much. Also the annoying discrimination is probably the reason theres not so much gender diversity in these things in the first place, and then the reason these dudes get the audacity to treat her like that. Vicious cycle.
Plus they literally went to it with the mindset of “there’s no way we can beat her under normal conditions so how can me most advantage ourselves and handicap her and maybe win at least 1/4 games” and even still seek out and take her professional advice. You know the way most people would/should approach a game against a pro
It’s the way she expressed how often men undermine her just because she’s a woman and they think she can’t beat them versus the Try Guys who cheer for her even when they’re losing. You can tell she relaxes more throughout the episode as she realizes they aren’t chalking up her talent to “luck”
Yes! I can definitely feel her relaxing as the video progresses & she was enjoying their company more & more after that. She's such a nice lady even though she came off intimidating in the beginning

I really love how many women they've chosen to have as their professionals: for pool, puzzles, golf, poker, bowling, etc. And not even just bc they're females and the try guys are against toxic masculinity, but bc they happen to BE some of the best in the world. Not just best who are women. But best in general. Women can be the very best, like no one ever was, too. 💁

i think my favorite thing about these videos is that MOST of their professionals are women, and the try guys come in with the "we are competitive, but we know we have a small shot of actually winning" i think it's the most subtle way of not having that internalized misogyny. and that's why i love them

Beyond her Pro skills, Melissa is awesomely classy. I love how she was with the guys, beating them in the classiest of ways and giving us all a nice tutorial as you went.

There is something pure about all the guys cheering for the expert when she made a difficult shot. Just the genuine excitement for her making some of those shots.
Also she was pretty cool and she kept giving them tips and answering questions and that was all around just so cool.
And pretty funny that Eugene was the only one in pants by the end.
You could see improvement form all of them though, very clearly so!

It's the strength of the format. 4 v 1 already gives the audience the notion that the pro is amazing. So the pro doesn't have any pressure to perform well. Even if she lost 1 game, nobody in their right mind will perceive her as garbage or mediocre. 1 v 4 is a good system to preserve everyone's ego and reputation.

The energy in this whole video is immaculate, and way Eugene went from "I am lightly intoxicated and don't know what I'm doing" to "I'm a pool master" was amazing.

It made me happy that they had a woman professional and that she mentioned the sexism she faces as a woman pool player. I suck at pool (on par with Zach's skill level😂) but I really fucking love playing it and am always the one who wants to play whenever I see someone has a pool table. However, because I'm a woman, I always feel so uncomfortable and awkward about it, and like I don't have a right to play it or that guys will see me as trying too hard because of it. I'm extremely happy that she didn't let any of that stuff intimidate her and that she worked so hard at something she enjoyed. It's so inspiring 💜
GURL, I feel ya! I always wanted to play pool since I was a kid but was super shy. I started playing finally when I started going out to the bar with friends after college and we all sucked at first and got better at it. Now when I go out and play with people, it seems there’s always girl that KICKS ASS, probably because she was underestimated and that just breeds sharks and it’s amazing! Keep it up and you’ll blow people away!
I live in Ireland. Every pub had a pool table when I was growing up. Everyone would play as soon as they could see the table and Everyone played who ever won the previous game. It wasn't unusual for kids to take a parents shot to learn to play and non of this 'u can't play cause ur a girl'. I'm still not good at it cause I'm crap at thinking ahead and have no hand eye coordination
I get you!! I feel the same about a lot of "masculine" stuff, especially video games. As a woman there's just so much extra pressure, like every time you play you're defending your entire gender instead of just playing. Even with my guy friends who I know don't think that way at ALL, it's still so indented into me that I can't turn it off. BUT the more we have stuff like this in the media the more that's unlearned (or never learnt at all for the younger generation) and I appreciate it so much
I'm girl and happy that I never felt this way (that pool is a men's thing). I like playing it. Several times I suggested a date could happen somewhere where pool tables are so we can play. It's fun :) Pool is cool :)

I think if its too physical, Zach tends to doubt himself coz he is a pasta. But otherwise he wants to be good at things if those things are actually fun to do.

This was soooo entertaining! Melissa is a badass! Sucks that she's run into sexism. It happens a looot in adventure sports too, and it's SO ridiculous! She definitely deserves some serious respect! Also, major kudos to beating her on the last game, y'all!
Sexism in the pool hall is normal. But 100% women who are good pool players want that sexism in pool. They get much better action and have an advantage against men. Pool is a gamblers game, so men would underestimate women when playing pool, so she’s probably made a lot of money over the years. Sad but true.

What she said about women pool players being looked down on is two true. Out of my group of friends (I’m the only girl), whenever we would go to play pool and someone else joined our game, they would always avoid playing me because they think I’m just a ditsy girl who can’t play or would just assume that I’m not participating, when in fact (not meaning to brag) I was the best player out of my group of friends and taught half of them to play. I remember one of the times these guys were refusing to play against me because I’m a women and wanted to play my friends, but as I’d already payed though they were stuck with me, the whole time they were making remarks and being so sexist, and I completely thrashed both of them at two different games, the first guy was being terrorised by his mate for loosing to a girl, so for me to thrash the other guy too made it so much sweeter, they then both just left the pub without uttering a word or even looking at me, gave me and my mates a good laugh, aswel as the other people in the pub 😂
I feel you. There have been so many times that some random guy would offer to teach me because he just assumed I couldn't play. And then I would trash him. It was immensely satisfying.

I love doing that! I’m by no means great at pool but got decent after college and guys would come up and challenge me and my guy friends to games, trying to flirt with me, and then we’d beat them so bad. My boyfriend was also the bartender and he loved seeing it all go down. It was hilarious and just so fun.

I always thought the best way to not be sexist, was to treat every gender the same.

I thought there was actually more equality on social media since men tend to look for females (six appeal)[please correct if wrong] and females want to look at females for women empowerment.
It could also be the same the other way around, but thats just my opinion
@@bigrealm8156 see you already said it yourself, that men look at women for “sex appeal” and not necessarily to acknowledge their ability/craft. equality presented in social media is important BUT outside of social media, equality and opportunities presented are insufficient and more often than not, presented as virtue signaling to pander to an audience.

very possibly my favorite 4v1 and my favorite professional. every time i rewatch this i am just amazed at how she was mentoring them and still being an incredible rival. most times, the pro doesn't give any instructions past the rules of the game in order to keep the upper hand but she showed her skill while still letting them learn rather than taking advantage of their lack of skill. love her so much

I love how 4 vs 1 has so many female experts. The guys always respect them so much, and they take losing so well. They're like "We're going to take every advantage possible and we're still probably going to lose because you're masters of your craft"

I used to regularly play pool and whenever I would get near the table all men thought I was fresh meat who needed to be (very physically) tought the game. whatever I would play, they would comment like they're pros and I'm a child who's giving it a try. so demeaning, inappropriate, and sexist.
