Randy this was very interesting and helpful. I own a 95 S10 2.2L with 576K miles on it. (213K since complete rebuild) Thank you for taking time to make this video.
Great video I just changed out three and four injector. ONLY took out that first bolt by them and was able to take out 3&4. (But it was a hassle to pry up that plate)
Glad I'm replacing my 2.2 with a 5.3. 2nd head gasket with a truck well maintained with only 72,000 miles , it's a 1995. These engines turn into money pits.
Pero te falta sacar el orring de la punta del inyector es más pequeño y ése hace el sello para que el combustible no ingrese al cilindro. Gracias por compartir tu video. Saludos desde Chile ✌🔧
I appreciate the video. I have a 2002 S10 2.2 and my fuel rail is on the other side. It seems I have alot more to move. But atleast I have a idea of how it comes apart. Thanks.
How did you get the injector back in? I'm replacing the number 4 injector in my 96 s10 2.2 and because of its position and angle, nothing I do will seat the injector in. I've tried hitting it with everything.
tyler mccalister Can you look into the bore and make sure the old o-ring or any other debris is not in the bore. Put oil or Vaseline on o-ring so that it will slide easier.
Funny thing is you can do it without taking all that crap off I did mine like 7 minutes undo the torque screw in the back left the little metal rail up and pull it out
How did you find that the number 4 injector was bad? I have a 1995 also but I cannot find a scan tool that will work so I’m having a hard time diagnosing it thanks for the video
My fuel pump was weak I put in a new fuel pump and it runs like new still to this day but about a year ago my truck had a bad misfire and wouldn’t hardly run it was so bad and somehow my spark plug wire was loose I know that sounds dumb but that’s all it was back then so I’d check your plug wires it’s so easy to do i replaced all kinds of stuff and wasted so much money for nothing oh and years ago I’ve had a misfire from a bad coil pack I guess there common to go bad on our s10s mine definitely did go out hope you find your problem good luck
I just replace my 4 th injector(the one all the way to the back) and my fuel filter. I let most of the pressure off and when i went to start it, it wouldn’t start. I changed my oil because it smelt like fuel but it still won’t start so what do i do ??
Bryan Wooten You might turn the key to the on position, wait 5 seconds, turn key off 10 seconds. Repeat this 4-5 times. That will run the fuel pump and fill the system.
And if clicking fuel pump on and off a couple of times don't work you will most likely need new fuel pump and or all new injectors. I am rebuilding a 2.2 s10 ive had so many problems with fuel issues on the 2.2 its ridicoulous
That’s exactly what my truck was doing. Could smell it for weeks. Looked several times before I found this injector leaking. It doesn’t take much of a leak to smell it. You will just have to look around and follow your nose to find the leak. You might follow the fuel lines and look at the injectors closely to find leak. Of course engine may have to be running to make it leak, be careful. Don’t know if this would work, but put a piece of rubber hose on a funnel, hold funnel tight to your face over your nose and move hose around over the fuel rail and injectors. Kind of like a stethoscope for your nose. Or maybe sprinkle baby powder over the area, it may show moisture at the leak. Keep me posted.
I know it’s been 5 years but I need some help removing the thermostat housing my quick release connector broke off on the thermostat and has half of the thread inside the housing
They make a tool called a brass fitting extractor. It basically fits inside the broken fitting and has teeth that grip it as you unscrew the tool. You might try that.
I need help asap I so the truck was buggin every time I shifted once it got to higher rpms she got up and went but she didn’t wanna start I turned her over 3 times then it started up so I changed the spark plugs now the darn truck don’t start at all…..
It could possibly need a coil pack and spark plug wires. Is it misfiring? Or lack of power? Do you have a scanner that can read the codes? You might want to check the rubber vacuum hose that goes to the brake booster. I have seen several that can crack and cause hesitation problems. You can buy that in bulk hose at the parts store. It is cheap. You might want to just replace it anyway. Make sure to get vacuum/emissions hose.
@@randytempleton5797 it probably is a 2.2 but not the puchrod motor. GM retired the "2200 /Vortec" 2.2 around 2003 ish in favor of the 2.2 Ecotec. Don Javier You should remove fuel pump fuse , start engine , it may just run a few seconds. That will depressurize the fuel system. Or just crack the nut loose very slowly at regulator, with safety glasses on, and a rag to block any fuel spray. Be very careful. That will relieve the pressure. If it sits a few days most of the pressure will bleed off.
