He was even a Ravenclaw at Hogwarts. His entire "bumbling idiot" thing was just an act in the books, something the films never touch on.
And totally understandeable why hes ravenclaw. Silly as fuck yet have a huge knowledge and passion to study and research all time. I dont know how he was represented in the books. People with mentality like him very common in philosphy / art history. Had teachers like him😂

When Ron told him that Lockhart obliviated itself, Dumbledore said something like: "Oh dear, impaled upon your own sword, Gilderoy?", meaning that he knew that he was a fraud and obliviated people to claim their archivements. A very interesting video thst talks about why he was actually hired is "Dumbledore's Big Plan: Chamber of Secrets" by SuperCarlinBrother, it's a cool theory
My favorite scene is Snape coming up with a smug grin and so delighted to get a chance at Lockhart, knocking him down, and then smiling after telling Lockhart to teach the students to block.. You just know when Snape walks up, shits about to go down.
On another video, I mentioned how Lockhart could have been a powerful force wiping death eater memories at the battle of Hogwarts (obviously if he hadn't lost his memory). Then I decided it would be even better if he just went around removing the bones from the death eaters.
The funny thing is, that lorewise Lockhart could not have done any damage on Ron anyway even if the wand had not been broken. Because a wand doesnt turn against his master.
