I was hoping Lockhart would come back to help at the battle at Hogwarts. He would have read all his books and believed them and actually became the man he wrote himself to be. It would have been funny
That would have been fantastic and quite unexpected... but it would be a bit too soon to be really realistic. He would have to make some incredible progress for it to be plausible but it would have very funny.

Like imagine if Lockhart had impressive innate magical talents who never could blossom due to his own arrogance limiting him, while this reset Lockhart, trying to get back to his "previous heroic" form by doing everything in his power to get there. It would both hilarious as an excellent example of what happens when one really works for it and abandons his pride. And it wouldn't even be that unbelievable that he always would have been able to reach this potentional as based on his talents for the memory charm, when he applies himself, Lockhart could truly master an art.

Ken Branagh is a great actor. I highly recommend all his work with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Especially Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing. The Much Ado cast is fantastic.

I've been here since the launch and announcement of this channel, and I just want to express how happy i am that we have a channel for Potterheads that we can come to for quality content. Another plus, for me personally, is how Star Wars Theory is a co-creator for the channel. As a kid, i was always surrounded by the thought of "You either like Harry Potter and you're a hot topic kid, or you like Star Wars and you're a huge nerd" The fact that these two channels are semi-connected makes me feel so welcome into both communities and just validates my care and love for these two universes. So thank you for making this channel, I'm very happy to be here!
We learn that Gilderoy had reclaimed some of his memories--but is that enough to be let out of the wizarding equivalent of a skilled nursing home? No. Because we never learn how capable he was in those mundane things one never reads about. Self care, cleaning, cooking, not getting lost on his way to and from the store. Yes, he might be able to sign his name, realize he is famous, and carry on a conversation about himself; but no, I don't think he will ever be able to leave some sort of skilled nursing home. In the Muggle World, he would probably be diagnosed with some sort of dementia. Out in the real world he might violate (unknowingly) the Statute of Secrecy. Not that the Muggles would believe him, but would place him in a Muggle asylum. He's better off in a wizarding hospital.
@@coderbunny5653 To clarify, it's a shame *Griphook* didn't have a bigger role. There's an interview with Davies in the special features where he says Flitwick didn't challenge him as an actor and he desperately wanted to play Griphook because it required actual acting skills.
Back in the 80s I read a series of books called The Death Gate Cycles where magic was cast by tracing runes that were tattooed on the caster -there was reference to them being prisoners and this magic kept the user mentally sane by being able to let the spirit escape while being held captive in a prison- This made me think of Sirius Blacks tattoos that look like runes he has covering his body - is there any explanation how he used his tattoos while in Azkaban? I would be very interested in knowing if he used a similar magic to mentally escape -kinda like astral projection
I would've loved to see Lockhart return in the order of the phoenix movie. the scene with Harry Ron Hermione and Ginny seeing Neville's parents in st Mungo's because of the cruciatus curse Bellatrix and Barty Crouch jr performed on them would've been so powerful.
question for you all, can Dumbledore see into the school year ahead? excluding Quirrel, because Voldemort was his fault, he exposed Lockhart, knowing that a dangerous situation would reveal him, but given nothing usually happens in a school year, how can he be exposed, the only way is for Dumbledore to know the basilisk would be released, he hired Lupin who, conveniently, taught harry the Patronus charm against the dementors, AND he hired Moody to protect Harry Knowing he would be in danger in his fourth year, BUT the only way he would be in danger was if he was IN the tri-wizard tournament. the only way for these people to "help" Harry, is for Dumbledore TO KNOW what the school year is going to be like, or am i over-thinking it?
You know I love Gilderoy Lockhart . He is up there on my favorite character list. I like to think when he grew old he was Released from the hospital and now lives in a quiet beach house in California. Still not knowing his past or how to do magic. Just a peaceful life signing autographs on the beach.
What would have happened it the years were in different orders? Sirius escaping in harry’s first year? Quirrell trying to get the stone in the 2nd? The D.A. in 3rd? Chamber in 4th? The vanishing cabinet in the 5th year? The triwizard tournament in 6th? Or any other random order. Would Harry still have his support and skills to succeed? Would they be different?
We did see him in Hogwarts Mystery, he picked a few students including the MC, things all went well until he slipped up a few words, which the students caught on, he managed to Obliviate them and then fled the scene.
Hello everyone. While we're on the topic "Gilderoy Lockhart" i would like to pose a question, but first i would like to give you some background. Even as a child, Lockhart, was arrogant and ambitious. Upon arriving at Hogwarts, he was sorted into Ravenclaw house although he almost got Slytherin. So here is my question: Why did this happen ? Why was he a Ravenclaw when his personality clearly matched that of Slytherin ? The only reason he wanted good grades while in school was to get more praise and admiration.

Ignoring the fact that Voldemort was in Harry's first year (and a mass murderer), Still a mass murderer in Harry's third year and a supposed mass murderer, A death eater and Voldemort was reborn in the fourth year, idk what bad happened in fifth year Dumbledoor, the only person who Voldemort was afraid of, died AND A LITERAL WAR IN THE SEVENTH YEAR HOW IS THE SECOND YEAR ON OF THE MOST DANGEROUS

Yes, that would be pretty awesome. And I am asking for another Cursed child review because the last one was too short. (The cursed child is trash, and I think Harry Potter Theory could make some great points to show why it sucks so much)

I actually think that, if they ever make new books or stories set after the original, it would be interesting to have Lockhart somehow remember who he was, but, now with a new perspective, be horrified by what a fraud he was, and be inspired to actually become a legitimate adventurer.
After the events in the movie, Gilderoy Lockhart only regained a small part of his sanity. After failing at several jobs, he wound up going door to door selling woopie cushions.
The old Lockhart would’ve let an innocent girl die at the hands of Lord Voldemort and flee to save his own skin the moment he realized he let Voldemort come back to power then if that’s what happened. One would think a memory erased Lockhart would’ve read about what was going on and seen the old books, then wanted to help in the final battle at Hogwarts I would think. But he was safely away at St. Mungo’s. So we may never know the kind of good hero type he could’ve been sadly.
It would be very cool if JK would write a movie for the founders of Hogwarts !!! and then one to show how Harry and the gang lived after the battle at Hogwarts.....
I'm beginning to see why Dumbledore thought it wise for Harry to be raised outside the wizarding world with Muggles. With the likes of Gilderoy Lockhart and Draco Malfoy (especially at Hogwarts), they wouldn't have been able to deal with them plus an arrogant Harry Potter, too. He'd seen the downfall that came with a swollen pride and wanted to prevent that with Harry. He also needed Harry to be completely malleable in order to fulfill grandiose his plan in taking down Voldemort.
They probably couldn’t get the actor or they just cut it for time, which is a shame as the film cut a lot from the book even though most of it was filler.
@@Bijo69 It was still poignant enough to do it. The premise for going could still of been Ron's Dad. I mean it was more for Neville to have a scene with his parents for me. Even if Gidroy didnt do the cameo it would of made sense to shoot. They need to remake Harry Potter in a series form. More Darker and truer to the books.
I have noticed the Kenneth Branagh who played Lockhart changed his acting style after doing this role in Harry Potter. Most if not all of his roles have been angry and evil. Kenneth has also lost quite a lot of weight also.
How can we be certain that he fully lost his memory? I think after some time at the St. Mungos he remembered who he is and what happened, and although Dumbledore died, Harry, Ron and Hermione know what a frauds he is so he would rather stay in the hospital were it us comfortable and suffer no humiliation of the truth to be set free. That is "my theory " on Gildory Lovkheat.
My favourite part is when Lockheart sends Hermione a get well soon card and signs it with all of his accolades... "To Miss Granger, wishing you a speedy recovery, from your concerned teacher, Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honorary Member of the Dark Force Defence League, and five-time winner of Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award." Hahahaha
Kinda wondering now. If Voldemort had won the war, would he have kept St Mungo’s open to treat patients (and by that i mean use them as lab rats) or would he just shut it down since there would be no point for him to care for the sick (mostly people like lockhart who was useless to him due to his condition and little chance of recovery) or maybe keep it open to at the very least keep an image that cares for his fellow wizards? Although i don’t see this last option as something he would do. Or would he just keep open those departements with patients capable of recovery and thus with some possible use to him to incorporate in his army
If I was the parent of a magical child and found out that the headmaster of my child's school had knowingly and deliberately hired an incompetent and potentially-dangerous teacher simply out of a personal desire to "expose" them, I'd be kinda pissed. Dumbledore can expose charlatans on his own time, when it's not negatively impacting the education of students for an entire school year.
My guess is, the Ministry of Magic agree to snap his wand and during his recovery there told him he was an author and after he recovered he was cast off into the world; but the muggle world where they brought him to his parents and Lockhart lived the rest of his days thinking he was a muggle and he managed to be successful as an author. His mother was heartbroken as she was ordered not to mention the magical world with him because of the dangers he would bring if he were to find out.
I like to think that Gilderoy Lockhart was eventually sent to a nameless "rest home" in the English countryside to live out the rest of his days before dying peacefully in his sleep.
Yes, I believe so because they found out he was a fraud, and Lockhart didn't want to be exposed, so he tried to erase their memories so the boys wouldn't say anything. He used Ron's wand, which was broken, so they spell backfired on him.

Correct me if I'm wrong: Hermione erased her parents' memory, yet she was able to retrieve it after the great war. Why they could not be able to retrieve Lockhart's memory? Is it just because "Obliviate" backfired at him, so he practically erased his own memory, therefore there was no one who could retrieve his own memory? Is erasing your own memory undoable, yet you can retrieve it if you erased someone else's?

I have one question - Since Tom Riddle (he who must not be named) died; does that mean the curse has been lifted and now a professor can teach this subject for more than one year? Or does the curse still come into play?
I'm not a huge hp nerd so don't make fun of me for this question, But was Snape already a death eater when Lily died? If he was, why didn't he leave, because Voldemort killed his one love? Or if he wasn't, why would he become a death eater later, after what Voldemort did?
I was hoping that: Lockhart fully gained back his memory, and feeling ashamed for being a fraud, mended his ways and became a hero for returning to Hogearts for the final battle as his way of apologizing.
I'd like to think he regained some of his memories perhaps not all but some. But not enough for him to leave the relative safety of the ward. If he got out Lockhart would've been a risk to himself and others and would need round the clock care(does social services exist). He's better off staying in the hospital
I wonder if the reason Dumbledore never gave Snape the DADA position because of the curse, and keeping him safe until the day he would eventually have to kill Dumbledore. That would be a cool video idea!
I think Lockhart could have come back and work for the department that helps to keep the wizarding world a secret from the muggle world by wiping their memories in the Ministry of Magic.

After the events in the movie, Gilderoy Lockhart only regained a small part of his sanity. After failing at several jobs, he wound up going door to door selling woopie cushions.
The old Lockhart would’ve let an innocent girl die at the hands of Lord Voldemort and flee to save his own skin the moment he realized he let Voldemort come back to power then if that’s what happened. One would think a memory erased Lockhart would’ve read about what was going on and seen the old books, then wanted to help in the final battle at Hogwarts I would think. But he was safely away at St. Mungo’s. So we may never know the kind of good hero type he could’ve been sadly.
So Lockhart is just the wizard version of an Instagram influencer.

I'm beginning to see why Dumbledore thought it wise for Harry to be raised outside the wizarding world with Muggles. With the likes of Gilderoy Lockhart and Draco Malfoy (especially at Hogwarts), they wouldn't have been able to deal with them plus an arrogant Harry Potter, too. He'd seen the downfall that came with a swollen pride and wanted to prevent that with Harry. He also needed Harry to be completely malleable in order to fulfill grandiose his plan in taking down Voldemort.

Its criminal that Christmas on the closed ward was cut from the films.
They probably couldn’t get the actor or they just cut it for time, which is a shame as the film cut a lot from the book even though most of it was filler.

I have noticed the Kenneth Branagh who played Lockhart changed his acting style after doing this role in Harry Potter. Most if not all of his roles have been angry and evil. Kenneth has also lost quite a lot of weight also.

How can we be certain that he fully lost his memory? I think after some time at the St. Mungos he remembered who he is and what happened, and although Dumbledore died, Harry, Ron and Hermione know what a frauds he is so he would rather stay in the hospital were it us comfortable and suffer no humiliation of the truth to be set free. That is "my theory " on Gildory Lovkheat.
My favourite part is when Lockheart sends Hermione a get well soon card and signs it with all of his accolades...

Kinda wondering now. If Voldemort had won the war, would he have kept St Mungo’s open to treat patients (and by that i mean use them as lab rats) or would he just shut it down since there would be no point for him to care for the sick (mostly people like lockhart who was useless to him due to his condition and little chance of recovery) or maybe keep it open to at the very least keep an image that cares for his fellow wizards? Although i don’t see this last option as something he would do. Or would he just keep open those departements with patients capable of recovery and thus with some possible use to him to incorporate in his army

If I was the parent of a magical child and found out that the headmaster of my child's school had knowingly and deliberately hired an incompetent and potentially-dangerous teacher simply out of a personal desire to "expose" them, I'd be kinda pissed. Dumbledore can expose charlatans on his own time, when it's not negatively impacting the education of students for an entire school year.

He was turned into a toad and lived happily ever after in a half wild garden with plenty of earthworms and slugs.
My guess is, the Ministry of Magic agree to snap his wand and during his recovery there told him he was an author and after he recovered he was cast off into the world; but the muggle world where they brought him to his parents and Lockhart lived the rest of his days thinking he was a muggle and he managed to be successful as an author. His mother was heartbroken as she was ordered not to mention the magical world with him because of the dangers he would bring if he were to find out.
And that kids is why you don't mess with any good friends of Dumbledore

Yes, I believe so because they found out he was a fraud, and Lockhart didn't want to be exposed, so he tried to erase their memories so the boys wouldn't say anything. He used Ron's wand, which was broken, so they spell backfired on him.

Correct me if I'm wrong: Hermione erased her parents' memory, yet she was able to retrieve it after the great war. Why they could not be able to retrieve Lockhart's memory? Is it just because "Obliviate" backfired at him, so he practically erased his own memory, therefore there was no one who could retrieve his own memory? Is erasing your own memory undoable, yet you can retrieve it if you erased someone else's?

probably not depending how bad the backfire was his memory probably gone so he know nothing of himself or anything he done.
I'd like to think he regained some of his memories perhaps not all but some. But not enough for him to leave the relative safety of the ward. If he got out Lockhart would've been a risk to himself and others and would need round the clock care(does social services exist). He's better off staying in the hospital
