    Out of all the millions of videos on TH-cam, this one here is one of my most favoured. I never knew who Vivian Stanshall was a year ago. I saw Canyons of your mind on "THE BBC". Love it and love Viv ever since. I just love the flow of his vocabulary.

They’ve taken down the entire “The League Of Gentlemen” series from iPlayer, one of the best comedy series that’s ever been made, simply because some Americans complained that the “Papa Lazarou” character was “Blackface”, absolutely ludicrous AND spineless considering it was nothing to do with “blackface”, made even worse after they said they wouldn’t cave in and take it down.
      They’ve also wrecked series like “The Young Ones” by omitting parts of scenes that contained “bad” words, utterly destroying the political points that were being made.
      And that’s only the ones I’ve noticed personally. So “brainwashing” is still alive and unwell at the Beeb.

      The whole issue surrounding what makes us laugh and where the line is regarding 'offence' is incredibly complex and calls for a certain perspicacity that maybe less mature minds lack. If it were as simple as, 'this makes me laugh, what is there to think about?' Then all our lives would be simpler.

    The only time I saw Viv was with the group Grimms in Liverpool in about 1974. It was wonderful and no-one seems to remember the group. There’ll never be another like him.

    Vivian stanshall was KING HIPSTER! Four decades before it was even a known thing! And he had miles more charisma than any cool person could ever have these days, because he genuinely didn't care what anyone thought of him! And didn't "seek approval" of anything obscure he discovered unlike the selfie taking self obsessed tossers that pass for interesting and quirky these days! Broke the mould when they made him!!!!

      Which earned him a £150 session fee for his efforts. Luckily due to changes in copyright and royalty legislation in the late 90's his estate are now paid a modest percentage on any sales and airplay, money he could have sorely done with during the last decade of his life.

    I saw Vivian at some college and he was pissed and hysterical. I recall him kicking the guitarist and dragging him to the floor during a horrendously bad solo. The main band was called Gaswork. The singer wore a crash helmet the whole gig. What happened to them?

      But how can it be the same guy if Vivian supposedly got plastic surgery done to look like Paul? Once the plastic surgery is done, you can't exactly reverse it. How could it possibly be the same guy if Vivian still looks like Vivian and Paul still looks like Paul?
