In 1988 Neil and I tried to get a show up and running called 'The Barkers', the Archers but with dogs. Bonkers! We couldn't get it going because of the difficulty of reconciling human and dog facial expressions; the same sort of problem that Cats the movie seems to have run into. A generous and kind man, and a genius of focussed idiocy.

Actually the fact that he lost a chunk of the copyright is actually an honour. How many other artists wrote a song and had it retroactively credited to Lennon?McCartney, even although they had nothing to do with it. I would actually die a happy man if that happened to me.

Neil Innes said in a past interview that Lennon had contacted him when lawyers acting on behalf of Apple insisted the tracks on the 1978 Rutles LP had joint credit for Harrison, Lennon & McCartney. Lennon apologised and told Innes there was nothing he could do, but The Rutles songs were very close to The Beatles. At least Innes got some recompense from that well known plagarist Noel Gallagher and got joint songwriting credit for Oasis's Whatever, which was lifted from Innes's How Sweet to be an Idiot.

It's been all down hill since then precisely because the uninformed, like yourself, fell for the propaganda put out since. Reagan, Thatcher and now neo Nazis. Indeed in the USA to which Lennon fled in the 70's, the counter culture continued until Reagan's era while 70's UK had Glam. Lennon was a great if flawed man!

The Vampire Squids even stole half of Neil Innes' music. Time for a Global Insurrection.
