Don Alfonso by Mike Oldfield Released in 1975 by Virgin Records A Side - Don Alfonso B Side - In Dulci Jubilo (For Maureen) From Wikipedia "Don Alfonso" is the second UK single by musician Mike Oldfield, released in 1975. Side 1 has an additional credit: "featuring David Bedford on vocals". This is a comic novelty song from the early 20th century, sung by a boasting, bogus toreador, who seems t...
I wish that radio show/interview was available
Me encanta esta canción 🎉
I can see where Kenny Everett got his inspiration
this one is new to me. its awesome
There were two Vivian Stanshall's. One was played by Bill Shepherd (Wallace? Campbell?) aka Billy Shears, who has played the role of Paul McCartney since 1966.
Oh, do shut up. This utter nonsense.
At the time marker 12min 35 sec,Viv mentions shows the worms he that he feeds to his pet turtles. They are tubifex worms from the muddy banks of the Thames. The last time I saw a y of these was at the aquarium where I worked in Morecambe over 50 years ago.Why am I labouring over this dull comment.Having never thought about them for decades, the word Tubifex ,synchronistically popped into my head out of nowhere and here a week later I am seeing them again in Viv's video.A bit out of sync time wise but close enough as damm it for such an obscure subject.Well done viv.I bet if you watch this closely almost everything in in the universe will appear briefly in Viv's film.Rather like supposedly standing in times square long enough to see everybody you know or recognise cross it on foot. .
This song always makes me laugh 😂
Thank you for this. Priapic overtones..😂
I wonder if he ever met Ivor Cutler. I think they would have got on.
Got the Beatles music in it . Hehe. Nice one bill!
Dick!
This is just glorious. 😊
I had rather a mental aberration needing to know the name of Jack De Manio and the only place I could recall where I knew he was was here. So thanks BBC.
Just like "It was a fake mustache' in 67. This is a fake beard. Ole Billy at it again
WOW ! Genial ! Danke !
Oldfield at his very, very best! 🎸👍🏼 😊
Hey Billy! You did a great job as Vivian! 😅😅😅😅
except when he had him done in
Cupid stunt!
They don't make them like Viv anymore 😂... Miss you Mate...
He's like what any hipster wish they were.
The only time I saw Viv was with the group Grimms in Liverpool in about 1974. It was wonderful and no-one seems to remember the group. There’ll never be another like him.
The man!
I think Viv seemed genuinely happy when watching the morris dancers 🍺
Holy shit do I ever hate British culture.
Maybe you'd be happier in North Korea then.
Brilliant, thank you for the upload!
An absolutely loving genius
As an abstract mad musical musician i absolutely apriciate vivian..my name is matthew after the Hebrew..of the meaning gift frim god and vivian was a absolute gift xx
I have first hand experience of meeting vivians shreink uncle george he told me that vivian was an absolute gentleman snd on a Occasion not so but i still feel he was an absolute lengend and still and always be no ones perfect folks xx
Even ruddles was a ridiculous choice for an absolute man of taste 😅😅😅😅
Of all the beers ...fosters ...lol ...for a man of taste that was a poor choice of beverage for an absolute genius 😂
Just like James Paul McCartney, this is not the original Viv! It was a fake mustache!
"Why should Geroge nearly weep for him"
oh geronimo jumping into my tub
He could go on forever; I'd be chuffed. Bless you, Viv.
I didn’t think there was a Domesday Book written after 1400.
I don't know why people say It's Paul Mccartney. Two different man.
I saw Vivian at some college and he was pissed and hysterical. I recall him kicking the guitarist and dragging him to the floor during a horrendously bad solo. The main band was called Gaswork. The singer wore a crash helmet the whole gig. What happened to them?
Those were they days ...
A very impressive adaption of the book,so glad you're continuing with it, can't wait for the next episode
I raise my hat to you Viv!
Hopefully you're a hippo 9:43
A very whimsical man
Definitely a character , but it must've been incredibly exhausting always expected to be funny. His "Piranha" obviously an inexhaustible topic.....
A gentleman of unremitting wonderment!
Oh! to be in England, now that England's here.... I stand up in my wheelbarrow and pretend I'm Boadicea!
Brilliant song.
Oh! the memories of Viv . Smoker asks have you got a light Mac. No, but I've got a dark brown overcoat.
Those teeth at the end! Brilliant!🤣🤣🤣
So drunk and unwashed.
The music heard on the documentary is from his album 'Men Opening Umbrellas Ahead' it's worth a listen.
As much as anything, I keep coming back simply for the beauty of his voice.
Good heanens, never seen this before. A genius. Sir Henry is sadly missed. RIP Mark Davies.
To all the insanity that Viv ...or "Shelly" as his buds called him ...was Paul McCartney...dear God in Heaven seek help😂
The ACTOR behind this 'Shakespeare-ian' character.. The man of 1000 voices.. 👌👁 Is probably the greatest actor of all time.🎭 🐞🐞🐞🐞 🐞🃏🔥 ♟️♟️♟️♟️ ♟️ The cat is out of the bag 🔥🥧
If I had all the money I've spent on drink - I'd spend it on drink. Vivian Stanshall
