    I thought I was the only person in the world obsessed with my bags and how they are organized. Getting the most stuff in the smallest bag or just something that won’t break my tiny 95lb self. Everyone makes fun of me for my giant bags and the backup bag in the truck, yet when they need something, who do they run to? Yep, the crazy bag lady.
    I do use pouches and organizers too. I really like these. I also change bags almost daily according to what I’m doing. I have different bags, backpacks etc for different purposes.

    • @CarryologyTV
      @CarryologyTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the thing... I used to use internal organization on bags, but then when I'd switch from bag A to B to C to XYZ... I'd realized I lost a pen or something during one of the switches. Now, you never have to worry about that issue!

    Two questions:
    1. Given that all your stuff is in pouches, what do you do with organizational panels and pockets in bags?
    2. What if you’re going on a day trip or even shorter. Just about town for a few hours. Would it make sense to have a pouch that crosses some of your categories and has a smaller amount of gear? Eg, a pouch with a small external phone battery, a few first aid/healthcare items but not what you’d need for an out of town multi-day trip...

    You don’t get stopped for your medication bottle since it not in original packaging?

    • @CarryologyTV
      @CarryologyTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! I've never been stopped once. Reason being, or so I'm told anyway... there was a somewhat recent bust of a ring of agents who were stealing pills from luggage and reselling them. Now the policy is that TSA agents cannot even look at our touch pills of any kind. Unless you have a few thousand pills in your luggage, as long as you have a small amount of personal medication, they're required to turn a blind eye. Remember, they're strictly looking for items that are dangerous for flight, they're not the police looking for evidence. All that being said, I have photos of the prescriptions on my phone in a photo folder, just in case :)

    Excellent video! I love Nite Ize stuff, but somehow hadn't heard of the Runoff Waterproof Travel pouch before this. I'm now building an EBC pouch based on one.
    One note: Tenacious Tape is an awesome thing to carry for EBC -- but it comes in two main types, with plastic and ripstop nylon base. My vote is to carry a bit of each, since each type has its own advantages / disadvantages "in a pinch."
    Another note: if folks don't want to color-code pouches with S-Biners, skinny (3/32" / 275 lb) parachute-type-cord makes great replacement zipper pulls. Because, colors! And it's fantastic for travel clothesline, too.

    Ooh pouches, who isn't addicted to pouches? Really, anyone? I currently use trakke's small packing cubes one each for tech and tools and edc (mask, hand sanitizer, keys, tiny flashlight, etc), used to use Bellroy tech kit but was too large for my use, a bellroy standard pouch for first aid, 2 x Trakke's Laggan, my favourite pouch, one for pencils, sharpeners, erasers, glasses and other sundries, and one for mic, audio interface, cables etc, Bellroy dopp kit, and a lihit lab small pencil case (book style) for sewing kit and extra pens. I'm a writer and starting out with voice over, hence the mic and preponderance of writing gear! This is the latest iteration, like you I swap out between a few bags every week and this system works for now. I obviously have a few others, who doesn't! But that's for another time! Loving the content, keep it up!

    You know I started doing the same. I have been carrying E.D.C. Pouches. I love the pouch. I figure. If I have a backpack on I need a front pouch. It is a great complement to the backpack. Also just even using pouches around the house. It is nice. You can grab what ever you have and take the pouch with you. I have chest pouches and waste pouches and I love them. Yea. I am starting to make e..C. Kits out of the pouches. If you can wear a backpack than using a pouch is that much more practical, and also I am so tired having to carry things in my pockets wearing a pouch is the best thing you can do for yourself. I also got a money belt. Still have my wallets, but my new money belt is nice too. I never actually put stuff in my shaving kits but just shaving stuff but i really thought about this one and though it over. Nice to have pouches and the shaving kit was what started everything.

    Do you keep all the things in the pouches (which effectively means you have to have all the things twice - one in the pouch and one (for example toothbrush) outside of it) or do you empty an re-populate the pouches as you need them?

    • @CarryologyTV
      @CarryologyTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh good question! I use every single thing in the pouches. So for my Dopp Kit- that toothbrush I show... that's my toothbrush that I use. I have my "home" toothbrush left at home. Everything that is in these pouches, stays in these pouches forever. I have whatever else I need at home. But when I travel, the contents of these pouches are all I use.

    Great video Taylor, exactly what I was searching for, I will gladly subscribe. One small detail, I once was held up at the Oman border for 2 hours as my friend was carrying his various medication in little zip locks without any clue as to what they were, obviously he knew. Small tip, photograph one of each kind of tablet, loose, next to its original box before storing them together as you did. If you are challenged it will make life a lot easier.
    Getting back into hiking recently after many years, I have noticed zippo lighters seem to have fallen out of favour with guys on youtube, is that because of weight?

      @blakew5672 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Weight is part of it. The big issue with a zippo lighter is fluid. They’re great if you smoke, but otherwise every time you need them they’re bone dry. Gotta worry about flints as well.
      Easier to just use a bic. They strike damn near everytime, they’re cheap (lighters tend to grow legs), and they weigh next to nothing.

    You have tums but no pepto, if you take a pepto when you start your meal you can avoid needing the tums.

    using only one kind of pouch definitely makes it easier in an emergency for finding the first aid kit. But dont u find it boring when all of the pouches are basically the same ?
    for toiletry and first aid kit i dont see any problem but why dont u use a tech kit with a little extra organization for stuff like ur little USB-A to USB-C adapter ?
    i kinda get anxieties seeing how u got all the pills in the same bottle hahaha

    • @CarryologyTV
      @CarryologyTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahhaha fair enough! I like having everything uniform, for me, it makes it super clean. Some folks love the built-in organization of tech pouches, but I see it as additional weight and volume that I can reduce by using a simple pouch. That's just me though... and I'm weird.

      @@CarryologyTV we are all weird here haha.
      I mean its definitely a nice pouch and i am all for wateresistance thats basically the whole reason why i bought the aer tp2 in xpac and not cordura haha.
      Will you make a follow up video about other pouches you used before, apart from the ones you designed urself?

    WTF is a dop kit?

    • @CarryologyTV
      @CarryologyTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dopp kit is a term particularly in use in the US for toiletry bags. The name derives from the early 20th century leather craftsman Charles Doppelt, whose company designed the case in 1926.[1]
      Toiletry kits had been issued by the US military services during World War I.[2] "Toiletry" and "Dopp" kits became synonymous when the military issued them through World War II.[3]
