I am a Mrs. and I love your videos. I’m making a EDCs for our family’s upcoming vacay and these videos are so helpful. But even when I’m not, they are enjoyable!
I have never seen a video on this subject even remotely as thorough and helpful as this. Great job Jon, your channel has quickly become one of my favorite stops on TH-cam. Keep it up!
What I like about this channel the most is, unlike so many others, not being told "you need this" or "you must have that" etc. Yes, we all have different wants and needs. I change pouches and content according to where I'm going. I've just added a spanker elite small tool pouch to the ever increasing collection 😂 The wynex admin/medic pouch is also excellent value and useful. Just in my opinion!
Seeing the differences between these pouches makes it much easier to understand why you prefer the Maxpedition. While their smaller models are perfect for your purposes, I'll need one of the slightly larger Maxpeditions. Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble of switching all that stuff into the different pouches. It was the deciding factor for me.
For el-cheepo alternatives, small digital camera pouches are useful for packing and carrying a few items in the pocket. There are lots on the web. Not the same standard as the above, but useful just the same. Thanks for the enjoyable and informative vids.
A few months ago I gave in to the my primal need of organizing stuff in packs, and got into pouches. First was a tool pouch with a generic Chinese pouch, then an EDC pouch with Alpaka Hub Pouch, and lately a tech pouch with Evergoods' CAP2L. The CAP2L is incredible and I am pretty sure that you would also love it if you need something like it.
A very useful review. I’ve been a Maxpedition EDC pouch fan for a while. I’ve got a micro for my general EDC and a Fatty for my Wild Camping kit as that needs to have a number of additional items. I use items from my EDC almost every day ranging from the torch which is very useful this time of year to my Swiss Army pocket knife and an antiseptic wipe and plaster the other week when someone my wife and I were with cut their finger. I have been using the Micro for quite a long time now and I now don’t leave home without it. I made up a car kit for my wife a while back, so she has the basics covered in a small grab bag that can be easily accessed if she needs it.
You're the most calming and mature EDC man out there. It's like listening to a wise teacher and I like that you do actual budget budget videos too :) Edit: I am also obsessed with your background decor
I have several maxpedition clones as you describe; very happy with them. The one I use to frequently carry my phone on my belt has held up very well after years of use.
I never saw the benefit of pouches until I started getting into EDC and they are so useful to keep things organised, especially if you switch between different bags or just need something to grab and go and of course having multiple kits. I actually use the small sized pouches for my pockets, got some from Osprey, one being in red, which is almost perfect for a personal first aid kit.
I like my Maxpedition pouches very much and are very handy for all my EDC needs. I also recently bought one of their minimalist wallets that has been working perfectly.
The thing about pouches is that different pouches meet different needs. I like how you transferred the contents of your kit into different pouches for comparison and obviously the Maxpedition was the best fit. However, I have put together a “take along office” kit using the Alpaka pouch you showed and it fits the need perfectly (in a way none of my Maxpedition pouches can). So, like another commenter, I keep a variety of pouches on hand (different sizes and layouts) so I can find the right one to fit my need when I’m putting together a new kit.
Another very informative video. I’ve accumulated a storage tub of pouches over the years as my needs and organizing skills have evolved. Where I am now is simple open layout pouches, with few, if any, loops or pockets. I find that just gives me so much more flexibility. I can use other small stand alone bags or pockets inside a larger pouch when necessary. This also gives me a degree of modularity. Like my repair kit and backup hygiene kit. I can carry these modular kits in my car kit normally, but easily transfer them to my carry-on for a flight. One use case for a very simple pouch is a Topo mini for EDC. I seldom carry a bag, so the Topo fits beautifully in one of the yoke pockets on my Vertx jeans or trousers.
Thanks for the feedback Doug - yes I use the mini Topo too for my lightweight urban kit - when it gets very small it's hard to find organisation that works
I'm stuggling myself with either just throwing stuff in small mesh zippered pouches (pencil cases?), or using a dedicated gadgets pouch with elastics and all that stuff... I enjoy my Hynes Eagle Travel Electronics Organizer, but am I taking more dead weight with me, then? I bought the Tomtoc 7L sling bag and I think it's pretty neat, but organizing the stuff inside the main compartment is the new challenge :) haha!
Now that was an interesting exercise. My conclusion, as Jon pointed out in a previous video, keeping your space/weight within a particular limit (size of a Maxpedition Mini), makes for a systematic decision process of what’s necessary or not. I was amazed at how well the Maxpedition performed, even against larger pouches. Brilliant video Jon.
I am a huge pouch fan. When I started using pouches I would buy a pouch and try to fit what I thought would fit and find out the pouch didn't work for that particular need. So I had to rethink my strategy...I started laying out the items; EDC, fire kit, FAK, etc., and find a pouch for them depending on the internal guts. It took several pouches but soon got very good at buying various pouches for my needs. My conclusion was Maxpedition, 5.11, and Vanquest. I store these pouches and grab them as to the type of situation. Each one is filled with the various items. They attach to the outside of my main pack(s) and free up the inside of the pack for larger items. I have also attached them to the carrier hanging on the back of the seat in my Jeep.
I would also like to say: EDC pouches are a huge deal here in North America, but you by far have the more explanatory videos on this topic, and from the UK. Very well done Sir.
I like the maxpedition but i also like the alpaka too…great comparisons…your very On point and precise…and show us the ins and outs of the workings and i love that!!!
A very helpful video (as nearly all of your EDC-videos). The video length is perfect for explaining even small details. Thank you so much for your time in taking these useful videos!
Always thorough; great info. I love bags, pouches, storage solutions of all kinds. This stuff appeals to a very specific part of my brain. How about an “action video” of how you actually carry your kits out in the world? Would love to see your EDC in everyday use.
I recently got the Alpaka Hub Pouch and Zip Pouch Pro. I always find these pouches are just a little too big for what I need (I try to get the most compact gear possible). The Hub pouch is smaller than the Maxpedition Mini pouch at 4.7" * 3.5". On one side it has two elasticated loops and three on the other so it's possible to get your gear to interlock. The Zip Pouch Pro is great if you want a combination of wallet and pouch.
Difficult to find the best one, it is probably a personal choice depending how many items you want to carry and the way you want them displayed. I have the mini and it is a good starter for many different usage. It is a lot easier when they open flat, you are right.
Great video as always! You definitely should try the Barbibal organizer pouch. They are custom made to order. Whatever you want inside, extra pockets, 2nd row of elastic band etc. Only drawback I waited over a month to get mine to the UK.
I have been looking for a good pouch for few days and concluded on the maxpedition style after watching some of your older videos and others . Thanks for great content , it almost feels like you spying on me 😂.
Thank you Jon for a great overview. I've been carrying a Maxpedition micro pouch in my pocket for years and can speak to the cost efficiency of paying a bit more for something that will last much longer.
Another "vote" for the Micro. Being an old school Ranger, and retired peace officer, both professions often require one carries what they need. "Ounces became pounds" as time progresses. Now, in my 70's, I try to carry less, but found it was not smart with everything stuffed into many pockets. Thus, I use the Micro with convenience and confidence. A great little pouch that carries much.
Very nice to see what else is out there. I carry the Leatherman bit kit in the PAL’s webbing of the Vanquest PPM Slim which gives additional room inside. Though I appreciate the staggered slots of the Vanquest I resist the urge to fill every slot and look at them as optional positions. I’m trying to avoid the fill every space temptation which then leads me to buying a bigger pouch which I will then again fill. I try to fill a pouch which will lay flat in a cargo pocket rather than in a pile at the bottom. I have to be conscience of weight as well or I feel lopsided and get dirty looks from my chiropractor. I’m hoping to work my way down to a Maxpedition Micro but that may be too over ambitious of me.
On the strength of your previous review of the Maxpedition mini I bought one and keep a tubeless tyre repair kit in it on my motorcycle, there’s room for more stuff and easily stored on the bike.
Brilliant vid as usual Jon. You're absolutely right about the PPM Slim, I got a PPM Husky from Germany (live on UK, couldn't find it here). It is a fraction deeper than the PPM Slim compares very favourably to the Max' Mini but has additional elastic loops inside. All the best.
I found that I combined items from your mini travel and your mini kit for hiking. I found that the items i picked fit in the Maxpedition mini but it was really full and the zipper kept getting caught on the Hydroblu filter. So all that being said I got a bigger Maxpedition pouch so it is not more or less like the shape of a football. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
I love my Badlands Everything Pocket pouch for my basic needs local wilderness pouch, and I also use alot of Burton waist packs and smaller backpacks for smaller items. I HIGHLY SUGGEST both of those brands. I also use Badlands Ox and 511 Rush 72 for outdoor trips, though the 511 gear is heavy despite being indestructable. I have ordered a Maxpedition mini and Skinny, and they are on the way. I will comment when I get some use from those.
I’m a big fan of those pouches and combine them with Tasmanian Tiger molle adaptors and the Maxpedition TacTie’s to attach them to hook and loop panels in backpacks so they keep in place
In my Maxpedition micro i keep everything, keys, wallet (+ Swiss card,Lifesystems tick card), headphones, mask, Victorinox farmex x, Fenix e12 v2, zippo, knipex cobra xs and i love it!😍
After trying out many of the brands in this vid along with condor, rothco, and Viperade, I’ve found myself being drawn to the ultralight backpack pouches over the looped organizer pouches. They offer savings in price, capacity, and weight. Many are produced by mom and pop companies
For me, the tactile feel of Vanquest pouches is preferred over Maxpedition. Every Alpaka pouch I've bought has ended up being too small/cramped for my gear and doesn't function well. I actually have a knock off version of a basic Maxpedition pouch that's used for work EDC storage and it's killer! I actually enjoy knowing it's cheap and only serving as utility. But that's a personal thing regarding how I feel using/abusing my gear. 👍 Thank you for the video run through. It was insightful, helpful, and entertaining!
Thanks Jon, another useful review which convinces me I was right to go for the maxpedition mini which I got a few weeks ago on your recommendation. I absolutely love it. ❤
No surprise Vanquest did something similar as they were founded by ex Maxpedition guys. I have some Vanquest gear and it is superb quality. I'm also a big fan of 5.11 and I have a great small 5.11 pouch, but my favourite is my Maxpedition EDC which I use as a travel pouch. Superb quality, great design and looks, and affordable. Where pouches are concerned you can't beat Maxpedition.
Great video. I appreciate your insight and research on these pouches. I have often bought gear without giving it much thought, but after having tried several pouches, I have to agree that the Maxpedition option is better than some of my previous choices and is one that I'm moving to. I have used pouches that do not lay flat, and it's not easy to see what is in it. Being able to see and find things quickly is important. I never thought that I could find inspiration in pouches, but you have managed to succeed in that!
Long time watcher, first time commenter. Have you ever tried the Maxpedition Neatfreak? I keep all my gear in it and throw it in my work backpack . Then if I'm heading out for lunch and don't want to take all my work gear or a big bag, I just grab the neatfreak out. I also pack the removable carry strap into the bag when not using it as a standalone bag. It's like a hybrid bag/pouch, absolutely loving it. Loving your work too.
I have one in my car . Had it for years and still great condition . I’m looking for a new one so I can put my vessel screwdriver and bit set in . Thanks John
Thanks Jon. Another fantastic review. 🎉 I’m somewhat surprised that nearly all comments (as of my writing) agree with you and the Maxpedition. I also have the Vanguard. For my use, the Vanguard wins! I like the offsetting loops, the loop on the lower end and orange background. While both are fine products, in the end, I believe the choice Vanguard vs. Maxpedition really depends on what fits better with your EDC gear. Cheers. 👍🏻
There's a nice Maxpedition-inspired brand in Ukraine, called CaseIt. They're making their pouches in Kharkiv, with YKK zippers (even one zipper pocket inside in bigger model), Cordura fabric, and superb sewing. They have few unique design decisions and I don't like to call them a "Maxpedition copy", but a competitor 😁 For example, they place elasticated loops vertically on the right side (in bigger model), which helps placing bulkier items.
Excellent job per your usual creative conversation style of content & when you are talking about a product that you like, safe to say that I'm not sure who would want to interrupt the Gadget Guy!!! The biggest problem I had was to keep track of most of my items , especially the times when I desperately needed them . Such a terrible feeling and I can't tell you how many times I've heard " did you find it " 🤬 until I lost my mind from living my life in auto pilot !!! Thankfully nowadays my simple mind has been trained , I met someone that had her life together and she showed me how to do the same....Eventually I was going to get my shit together 🦕 Make the bed , make your own meals & make routines . The clutter that I grew up with has been purged 🔥 Now the only thing that matters is the things that matter so I take care of them and I am sure glad to be able to see the items I'm going to be needing...Simple minds can be trained and I think it is deserving of a mention that I love my THULE pouches & packs that always have their place in my North Face Borealis 28 L backpack.
great video as per usual Jon. I'm personally a big fan of the ZeroFeud compact utility pouch for a wallet solution. it's 3”x4.5” and fits very easily into the pocket and allows me to carry things like a fisher space bullet pen, lighter, SAK and even a dude wipe in addition to my cash and cards.
Do you typically carry these around in your hands? In a bag? Attached to a belt? I always like the idea of a pouch, but how do you wear/carry them? Especially larger ones?
thing about Maxpedition is that you need to buy extra straps for MOLLE atachment I've also in the past had a mis-stitched Maxpedition Bag which soured me on that brand I currently use a OneTigris Blade, opens flat so far it is working well & holds quite a bit
I use the Nitecore NPP10. Which I actually carry on my person, it's about the max size for something that is pocketable. A budget option really, but I've yet to find something better. I only carry things I'm likely to need, which is why I carry a much smaller pouch.
Have you looked at the Roaring Fire pouches? I like them better than my Maxpedition small pouches because the interior coloring makes it easier to see where things are.
I've not come across these before but just checked them out and they look really interesting - solving issues raised in the video - I'll try to get hold of one - thanks for sharing 👍
Very good presentation 👍 Thought I was thinking too much about multi tools, kits, being prepared... Etc until...................I see what others are up to 😄
I've been saying to myself for a while (since the Mrs couldn't give two hoots) that the Maxpedition pouches are a little bit magic. I've tried the Vanquest Slim and wasn't able to get the contents of my Maxpedition Micro to fit in it, let alone the Mini. Having said that, if you'd consider doing a giveaway of that Alpaka pouch, I wouldn't hesitate to enter 😉
Maxpedition micro here, from your advice;-) Can be warn in a coat pocket, backpack etc. And i was baffled how much i could put in that when your layout is good. 28 items so far.
Jon, first of all i love Your videos and Your approach to the topic! Ive became a maniac in terms of finding proper pouches for multiple purposes, my main EDC contains mostly tools and materials that i find useful in various situations. For me Helikon-Tex admin pouch worked the best since it has removable insert which is extremely clever and allows to have extended capacity of the pouch ( i would say that i can fit two times more items in the pouch than in standard maxpedition) without loosing ability to have everything organised, and in the known places. So please take a look on this helikon piece of gear, i think in term of bigger EDC pouch its product worth concideration! cheers!
agreed, it's the perfect size for my daily needs, I keep my loupe, an alox minichamp, a rovyvon E3, and a folding scalpel and I still have room to spare, great little pouch.
I've got the Alpaka Utility Pouch and agree it's a little awkward but I use it for my design gear which works well. One thing I've noticed though and I need to get in touch with Alpaka about it is the elastic loses its elasticity over time, not great. Also inside the big pouch on the non zipped side there's a hidden pen loop which I discovered by accident.
Came across your videos and love them. They’re so relaxing to watch and gives me loads of ideas , although I think we have different ideas of affordable 😂 but I think you’d put together an awesome motorcycle EDC if you could 😊
I will always be a little puzzled by wanting to keep a flashlight on a Keychain, or in a pocket. (Also keeping a knife on your person.) I have them, just not necessarily on my person. I keep them in a bag/pouch, and/or at my desk (aka workspace). [I do have a small pen knife that I keep on my person, that does come in handy from time to time.]
FYI - I don't recommend the $30 - VIPERADE VE10 Tool Pouch, EDC Pocket Organizer. It does not hold anything of width and basically zips up into a ball. Very mileading considering all of the pockets inside and outside of the pouch - minimal flex.
I find pouches particularly useful for my work needs, for small pouches I use the Alpaka and also a Datacrew what-a-slider. For larger carry items I use the Prometheus Design Werx Admin Organiser, it's a good size but with two admin tiles (you need to buy separately) it's certainly the pricey option. They recently did a collaboration with Carryology which is rather nice.
@@JonGadget No problem, the what-a-slider, when it's in stock is worth trying, nice size and reasonably well thought out loop interior. The PDW admin is great, larger 6.25 x 6.25 inches, but has molle backing so it's attachable onto a backpack which for me is vital.
You mentioned all the stuff I ran in to as well when finding a pouch. Just a little bit unsatifying there is no Maxpedition with offset loops though! Maybe time for a Jon Gadget Gadget Pouch, with good quality (YKK zippers obv.), offset loops and flat item storage?
I have an EDC pouch that's ultra small and I just carry a notebook, flashlight, screwdriver, and a pencil. it doubles as my wallet so it's doubly useful for me
I would love to see Maxpedition release a pouch with the size and organizational capabilities of the Beefy, but without the military inspired look. I love both of my Beefy pouches, but I'm not a fan of whipping them out of my backpack when I'm in public. They just look a little too goofy and "preppery" for my taste. With that being said, you can't beat them. They're without a doubt the best pouches I've used. Vanquest pouches are nice, but they aren't quite as nice in my opinion, and they're more expensive than their Maxpedition counterparts. The one advantage that the Vanquest pouches have over the Maxpedition pouches is the brightly colored interior. I think that was a smart decision on the part of Vanquest.
Neet! I use the micro ask a mini first aid basics kit, OTC meds and have some hygiene stuff like wet wipes and dental floss. Still have some room to fit some dental saving kit contents for my sensitive teeth cuz I got teeth issues. Next I use the maxpedition beefy and I use it for tools and misc tools like lighter and stored kerosene. Still plenty of room to add more stuff if I wish, also molle webbed on my main sling bag while still being slim like the sling bag. May be overkill but I prefer it for capacity. Both attached to my pack and the micro has no molle so I just attached it to the side of free molle with a locking carabineer
Plus helps alot that I can quickly access boo boo micro pouch (maxpedition) kit so I don't have to rummage through gear when I gotta clean up a cut or need meds. Also have my prescription meds so for me the micro has a mini pharmacy store
Also got mini tiger balm and nose decongestant so anytime I feel funny or sick, I can access micro pouch and go on while still having room and still be able to add more.
@@JonGadget I just started using them for offroad motorcycle travel. They do not stretch though, so your stuff either fits or it doesn't. I use a small one for my travel charging kit, one for first aid, and another for toiletries.
Here's my dilemma with EDC packs. I see the packs, the various sizes, great reviews, etc. I see loads of stuff carried in, for instance, a Maxpedition Mini. I get said pack, can't fit as much stuff in it, and it's still way too stuffed and thick (and heavy/bouncy) to pocket carry, even in cargo pants. As much as I like the convenience of a singular grab-and-go bag, I'm coming to realize that distributing my carry around my pockets - while not as quick to load up when leaving the house - will work better.
The notification for this video appeared whilst I was showing the Mrs something on my phone, her eyes rolled big-time 🤣

Great to hear - I am so pleased they are helpful for you
Great overview and comparison!
I really appreciate you showing how the same kit fits in each pouch. No one else takes the time to do that 👍🏼
Yes, thank you, it was a really useful exercise I think

I use cap2l for my cables and power banks. Perfect!
I don't own the CAP2L but I have followed it and will include it in a future tech pouch round up - looks very good if not too big
@@JonGadget
Great! Looking forward to it.
Lots of its size is due to its rigidity, which I personally appreciate. I don't like floppy pouches

Watched dozens of pouch videos. Not one moved contents into the pouches. That was extremely helpful in making a decision. Thanks you.

Thank you Jon for a great overview. I've been carrying a Maxpedition micro pouch in my pocket for years and can speak to the cost efficiency of paying a bit more for something that will last much longer.
Great to hear 👍
Another "vote" for the Micro. Being an old school Ranger, and retired peace officer, both professions often require one carries what they need. "Ounces became pounds" as time progresses. Now, in my 70's, I try to carry less, but found it was not smart with everything stuffed into many pockets. Thus, I use the Micro with convenience and confidence. A great little pouch that carries much.
Thanks for sharing - good to know
Very nice to see what else is out there.
Great feedback - agree avoid temptation to fill every slot - nice if it works but not essential
And here I am, perfectly happy with my cheap Solognac pouch (about the same size as the Maxpedition Mini).
On the strength of your previous review of the Maxpedition mini I bought one and keep a tubeless tyre repair kit in it on my motorcycle, there’s room for more stuff and easily stored on the bike.
Good to know
Brilliant vid as usual Jon. You're absolutely right about the PPM Slim, I got a PPM Husky from Germany (live on UK, couldn't find it here). It is a fraction deeper than the PPM Slim compares very favourably to the Max' Mini but has additional elastic loops inside. All the best.
a great option 👍
Thanks for sharing! I'll have a look.
I’m a big fan of those pouches and combine them with Tasmanian Tiger molle adaptors and the Maxpedition TacTie’s to attach them to hook and loop panels in backpacks so they keep in place
great to know thanks for sharing
Zip lock bags often do a good job, water tight, replace as needed, air can be sucked out and sealed. Not for everything, but works for many things.
In my Maxpedition micro i keep everything, keys, wallet (+ Swiss card,Lifesystems tick card), headphones, mask, Victorinox farmex x, Fenix e12 v2, zippo, knipex cobra xs and i love it!😍
Perfect 👍
After trying out many of the brands in this vid along with condor, rothco, and Viperade, I’ve found myself being drawn to the ultralight backpack pouches over the looped organizer pouches. They offer savings in price, capacity, and weight. Many are produced by mom and pop companies
You can get a lot in a simple pouch - I use them too - but for a kit for when trouble finds you, I like the elasticated loop layout
Love to see a comparison of pocket/ wallet sized pouches too. As well as sling bag options if you have more to recommend besides the Belroy
Good idea re wallet pouches - also will no doubt do a sling bag round up at some point this year too
For me, the tactile feel of Vanquest pouches is preferred over Maxpedition. 👍
Thank you for the video run through. It was insightful, helpful, and entertaining!
Thanks Jon, another useful review which convinces me I was right to go for the maxpedition mini which I got a few weeks ago on your recommendation. I absolutely love it. ❤
great to hear 👍
This was 7 months ago but the title just gets me. u earn urself a subscriber mate
Thanks for sharing - good to know
I have the Solognac S (X Access pouch), its olive green, cheap (less than 10€) but solid quality.
Not available in UK?
Try the EDCM Vanquest pouches, they have 2 models PPM and EDCM. Each have configuration of internal bands. Really love their products
will check them out - thanks
Jon - you are the master !
Great video- thanks
😊
Can never see enough pouch vids! Keep em coming!
😁👍
Definitely my favourite Jon Gadget thumbnail so far 😃👍
Great to hear
Big fan of the Manhattan Portage Atlas. Pricey but well designed and constructed
Quite large and pricey as you say but nicely done!
Right. I combine tech and travel items in this when I travel, therefore the size. Thanks for your excellent content.
Great review as I was looking for a pouch to carry. This helps a lot with my decision. Thank you for the videos.
Thanks John
Love the humor 😂
Great overview Jon, thank you it was a great source of information for me in making purchasing decisions
Thanks Jon. Another fantastic review. 🎉
I’m somewhat surprised that nearly all comments (as of my writing) agree with you and the Maxpedition. I also have the Vanguard. For my use, the Vanguard wins! I like the offsetting loops, the loop on the lower end and orange background. While both are fine products, in the end, I believe the choice Vanguard vs. Maxpedition really depends on what fits better with your EDC gear.
Cheers. 👍🏻
I think you meant to say Vanquest? Yes, a lot depends on specific use-case 👍
@@JonGadget Correct. VanQUEST not Vanguard. 🫢
Great review Jon. Two things that are very difficult to beat, Maxpedition and YKK.
😊
Thankfully nowadays my simple mind has been trained , I met someone that had her life together and she showed me how to do the same....Eventually I was going to get my shit together 🦕
Make the bed , make your own meals & make routines .
I love the Thule organizers. I have multiples because they are so versatile!
Thanks for sharing - great to hear about your experience - and Thule recommendation 👍
I recently got an Alpaka Admin pouch, for better sporran organization.
great video as per usual Jon. I'm personally a big fan of the ZeroFeud compact utility pouch for a wallet solution. it's 3”x4.5” and fits very easily into the pocket and allows me to carry things like a fisher space bullet pen, lighter, SAK and even a dude wipe in addition to my cash and cards.
looks interesting - thanks for sharing 👍
Do you typically carry these around in your hands? In a bag? Attached to a belt? I always like the idea of a pouch, but how do you wear/carry them? Especially larger ones?
thing about Maxpedition is that you need to buy extra straps for MOLLE atachment
I've also in the past had a mis-stitched Maxpedition Bag which soured me on that brand
I currently use a OneTigris Blade, opens flat
so far it is working well & holds quite a bit
I use the Nitecore NPP10. Which I actually carry on my person, it's about the max size for something that is pocketable. A budget option really, but I've yet to find something better. I only carry things I'm likely to need, which is why I carry a much smaller pouch.
thanks for the sharing Mark 👍
Bro, you respond to pretty much every comment, nice, i really appreciate that, thanks, keep makeing the grate videos
I try - but I can't get to every comment - thanks for the feedback 👍
Have you looked at the Roaring Fire pouches? I like them better than my Maxpedition small pouches because the interior coloring makes it easier to see where things are.
I've not come across these before but just checked them out and they look really interesting - solving issues raised in the video - I'll try to get hold of one - thanks for sharing 👍
i love your reviews!
Thank you!
Great video, I can't wait for the next one
Thank you
Very good presentation 👍 Thought I was thinking too much about multi tools, kits, being prepared... Etc until...................I see what others are up to 😄
we are not alone! 😊
My beefy is full
Impressive amount of stuff fits in this pouch
I've been saying to myself for a while (since the Mrs couldn't give two hoots) that the Maxpedition pouches are a little bit magic. I've tried the Vanquest Slim and wasn't able to get the contents of my Maxpedition Micro to fit in it, let alone the Mini.
Having said that, if you'd consider doing a giveaway of that Alpaka pouch, I wouldn't hesitate to enter 😉
Maxpedition micro here, from your advice;-)
Can be warn in a coat pocket, backpack etc. And i was baffled how much i could put in that when your layout is good. 28 items so far.
Great feedback - Micro is great
@@JonGadget anytime!
Half the bag is filled with stuff i got from your channel lol :-)
Jon, first of all i love Your videos and Your approach to the topic! Ive became a maniac in terms of finding proper pouches for multiple purposes, my main EDC contains mostly tools and materials that i find useful in various situations. For me Helikon-Tex admin pouch worked the best since it has removable insert which is extremely clever and allows to have extended capacity of the pouch ( i would say that i can fit two times more items in the pouch than in standard maxpedition) without loosing ability to have everything organised, and in the known places. So please take a look on this helikon piece of gear, i think in term of bigger EDC pouch its product worth concideration! cheers!
Alpaka Hub Pouch is excellent for small items.
agreed, it's the perfect size for my daily needs, I keep my loupe, an alox minichamp, a rovyvon E3, and a folding scalpel and I still have room to spare, great little pouch.
I agree
I have two Alpaka pouches and am finding them both quite useful.
I wish one of these companies made a Maxpedition style pouch in the size of 4" by 3" just the size to fit credit cards and easily fits in a pocket.
I do love a coincidence I’ve had the Onetigris admin pouch in my Amazon basket for 3 days.
Excellent video, I like how you move your contents from pouch to pouch. Subscribed !
Thanks for the kind words and sub and welcome to the channel 👍
Ive been searching for a vid like this, and now Jon drops the perfect one!
Great 👍
How do you carry the maxpedition pouch? I'm thinking of adding a one-point sling, would that be a good idea?
Came across your videos and love them. They’re so relaxing to watch and gives me loads of ideas , although I think we have different ideas of affordable 😂 but I think you’d put together an awesome motorcycle EDC if you could 😊
😂 I’ve had a few bikes but not anymore 🙁
@@JonGadget aww that's a shame you'd make an epic kit! I've been watching your videos because I plan on motorcycle camping and I wanted some ideas ☺️
I will always be a little puzzled by wanting to keep a flashlight on a Keychain, or in a pocket. (Also keeping a knife on your person.)
I have them, just not necessarily on my person.
👍 thanks for sharing
I find pouches particularly useful for my work needs, for small pouches I use the Alpaka and also a Datacrew what-a-slider. For larger carry items I use the Prometheus Design Werx Admin Organiser, it's a good size but with two admin tiles (you need to buy separately) it's certainly the pricey option. They recently did a collaboration with Carryology which is rather nice.
I’ll check these out. Thanks for sharing 👍
@@JonGadget No problem, the what-a-slider, when it's in stock is worth trying, nice size and reasonably well thought out loop interior. The PDW admin is great, larger 6.25 x 6.25 inches, but has molle backing so it's attachable onto a backpack which for me is vital.
@@Probeionic all in for the pdw it’s $50 not cheap but probably the best large sized admin pouch out there
You mentioned all the stuff I ran in to as well when finding a pouch. Just a little bit unsatifying there is no Maxpedition with offset loops though! Maybe time for a Jon Gadget Gadget Pouch, with good quality (YKK zippers obv.), offset loops and flat item storage?
Sir, you know how to ignite our good-vibe neurons. Well done as usual.
Thank you 👍
I have an EDC pouch that's ultra small and I just carry a notebook, flashlight, screwdriver, and a pencil. it doubles as my wallet so it's doubly useful for me
although it's less of a pouch and more of a tactical pen protector. it's made by viperade. it's just thick enough to get the essentials in there.
Never mind the pouches, where did you get the jumper? I need one of those! ☘💪🏽👀👍🏽☘
I agree on all points!
Great content, Jon. I would be curious to hear your thoughts on the AGR series of Maxpedition pouches.
You should have a look at the Magpul Daka line of pouches.
Good idea - just checked them out - simple and practical - thanks for sharing
@@JonGadget I just started using them for offroad motorcycle travel. They do not stretch though, so your stuff either fits or it doesn't. I use a small one for my travel charging kit, one for first aid, and another for toiletries.
Great video thanks!
