It's just so sad to see what G5 could have been, but then G5 literally just died with Brian Goldner, and Chris Cocks couldn't give any more of a shit about MLP. It's a true tragedy, what can I say... Thank you for covering this in such detail! People need to know about this.

Most of us who enjoyed seasons 1-2 or 1-3 say she killed mlp with season 3 and made it a bastardization of what g4 truly was. There is a huge difference between season 1-2 bronies and 3-on bronies. And even within season 1 and 2, some do not accept season2 as canon but they are the mega purists
Disney is not a good model. Disney's direct control leads to "executive meddling. Some of Disney's best movies - The Lion King and Lilo and Stitch - were "B" team movies - they were filler before Pocahontas and Treasure Planet respectively, and they were great because they largely escaped executive meddling because the executives were too busy meddling with Pocahontas and Treasure Planet, which Disney "planned" to be the major hits. And the reward Lilo and Stitch's directors and writers (Sanders and DeBlois) received was to be fired. (Not to worry, they went to Dreamworks to make How To Train Your Dragon). Disney has a track record of firing or pushing people out, only for them to come back to challenge Disney (Lesseter and Bluth, to name two more). Time and time again, the formula for creating great animation is to find great writers and directors, and leave them along to create their art. That's how G4 was created - they handed creative control to Faust who was talented and passionate about the brand. But I think expanding into media was the right move - toys have been a shrinking market for over a decade, and kids are spending more time watching "screens". Hasbro had to expand out of toys in order to grow, and expanding into the growing media market was a necessity. And now Hasbro is retracting into the shrinking toy market? That will not end well.
mabey they could do something like genshin impact were its a whole fantasy story in a mobile and pc game to be able to be played by everyone. or a console game that can be somehow updated throu a shop or an official webside ( i just invented that idea, idk if something like that actually exist or even can exist in the first place lol) or something like that

Being "the next Disney" would mean to be the next household name known for making beloved kids movies that were really really good. Now was such an opportune time because Disney has been worse lately. The market demands better but most of the industry is mediocre. Hasbro would have been able to step up.
@@dripcat7332 You underestimate how expensive it is to host a server for Gatcha, or how much work is needed to maintain and update it. Most Gatcha, even ones ran by Nintendo, closed down after 2-3 years. But I do love to upload my pony into an online game and interact with other people.

9:41. Let me correct you here. The scrapped concepts that were leaked in 2017 were very, *very* different from how G4 was a "reboot" of G3. I cringe when people call G4 a reboot of G3. It's only a reboot in the loosest sense. A lot of the characters are actually from G1, and the G3 characters that did make it through had totally different personalities. G4 is a less a reboot of G3 and more a mash of G1 concepts, G3 character designs, and Lauren Faust's original ideas. In short, while it does make homage to previous generations, it is basically new and a fresh start for the franchise. The 2017 leaks were pretty much the antithesis of that. All six main characters were coming through, most of them unscathed. Fluttershy with a horn is still Fluttershy. The only one who really changed was Applejack, and fans were upset about that. The 2017 reboot plans were a much more one-to-one reboot of G4 rather than a mash of homage and original ideas. Regardless of how successful you think that might have been (I think it would have been a flop), it's not the same as previous generations like G4 and G3 that were much softer "reboots."

This^^^ as a kid who grew up watching g3 and g4 I was about to comment similar. g4 rarity looks nothing like g3. G3 scootaloo was part of the main cast with the rest instead of being a younger character. She was part of the core 7.
Cox needs to learn you CANNOT go back on a gamble. Goldner already sunk the company's money into making G5 GOOD. Playing it safe wasn't going to save them. Taking risks like Goldner did to turn Hasbro into a serious player in the entertainment space was the best way to turn a profit and probably the only way to ever follow up G4. And it was such a smart move considering how bad Disney has gotten. Hasbro stepping up and suddenly being bigger than they'd ever been would have been huge for their company. But it doesn't come for free. It takes a gamble, and Goldner had the strategy to play a winning hand. Then Cox and corporate Hasbro decided to back down on his plan and just... Fold. But it was too late for that, they'd already lost so much money that the only way to see any return from it would be to go full steam ahead.
Goldner gave the company a life raft with instructions on how to survive but instead they left Cox in charge of the instructions and he decided to come up with their own plan, and threw the instructions overboard. Now he’s in charge of a burning ship that’s slowly sinking and he’s the one holding the smoking gun
This is so sad and it explains so much G5 felt like it had so much potential to be more than what it was but they were just phoning it in heck I even felt like it could happen better than G4 it had everything and to know that someone really did want it to be more is so disheartening that he passed and they just kind of demolished his plans like that

Even with so much going against it, G5 still managed to give us some great memories. Pipp and Misty are in my Top 5 all-time favorite MLP characters. Up there with Twilight and Fluttershy.
Wow, this video was very informative and educational. The more I think about it, I can see parallels between Sunny Starscout and Goldner, and the same could be said for characters like Sprout and Posey and Chris Cox. You have someone who wants to improve and expand Hasbro’s horizons and basically be progressive, and you have someone else who likely wanted things to stay the status quo like Sprout and Posey did. And unlike Sunny and Golder, Cox won for the most part. I’m currently using your video as reference and motivation for my open letter video to Hasbro regarding the future of G5 and MLP as a whole going forward. Even if it does very little to change things, if even just one person within the company passes it along to the right people, it’d be worth it. The least we can do now for G5 is support it now more than ever by rewatching the shows, buying what merchandise is available and so on. It may not be completely dead, but it’s safe to say it’s like it’s on life support or in a deep coma.

I am glad that you made this video, to let all of the fans know what happened with Hasbro. How they lost so much money, so fast, because of Chris Cocks, that they could not afford production on the season anymore, and that this all happened because of his stupidity, and incompetence. I found out about how much money they lost in mid-February, and started to spread the word out to fans, to help them all understand that this is probably part of the reason why this happened. They had all of the money that they needed for this season last year, when they greenlit it, but he caused them to lose it all so quickly. We all were so looking forward to so much from this season, as it had so much potential to be such a great season, and it was at first. They even foreshadowed for so much to happen, that we all wanted to see happen, and now, we all won't get to see any of it at all because of him. The team wanted to make it all happen, and the actors were all so looking forward to voicing the characters for this season, and we, the fans, all wanted to see it all happen. But, because of what he did, we all had to pay the price for this, and we can never forgive him for this. We all hate Chris Cocks so much with all of our souls, hearts, and guts. He has no soul or heart of his own, if he does stuff like this. He is a heartless, soulless, and ruthless tyrant, and he should not only be fired for this, but he should also go to jail. How often do you hear about a company having to abruptly end production on one of its most successful shows, right after a new season begins, due to the company losing so much money, so fast, due to its CEO making really bad decisions, and can't do their own job right, showing us all just how incompetent that they are, and not being able to afford working on its production anymore for that reason? Or even just because the CEO does not care about the show being successful, or even care about what the team wants to do, and they only think about themselves, and their own selfish goals and desires, and not even caring about what the fans want, and also the actors who play or voice the characters? I have never seen that happen before, and I am sure that a lot of people have not either. Seriously, Hasbro needs a new CEO for sure, 100%. We can all agree on that. Chris Cocks is ruining everything for MLP, and also for Hasbro themselves, along with all of their other brands. He now wants to change how the company works going forward. He needs to go ASAP. I just found out, because he wants to turn the company into a gaming company, that is also why he did this. They still had the money to work on this season, but he just wants to use their money on what he wants to do. Even if he did not cost them all of that money, he probably still would have done this anyway. Making apps and video games cost a lot more than making a show or film, regardless of the production of it, if it is either live action or animated. He also wants to focus more on teens and adults as well. That may have also played a part in this happening. I found an article from back in 2022, saying that he does not care about shows and movies, just games. He does not even care about making products either. So why is he in charge at all, right?! The article also said, he does not care about a show's success, and if products do not sell well, then he won't even care for a show at all. He should have cared about the show being successful, and want to keep it going for that reason, which is what you should do, and that is why the team behind the show wanted to keep it going, like how it was with FIM. Brian Goldner would have kept it going like they did with G4, he was a true CEO that showed how much he really cared, whereas Chris Cocks, does not. If the team knew about this ahead of time, and knew how Chris Cocks was, they would not have greenlit season 2, and everything would have ended last year, which was the original plan before they decided to do this season, and they should have done that now. The last MYM special, and the last 3 TYT episodes would have been different, and give us all the proper ending that was meant to be. We will never know how this generation would have ended if it was last year from their original plan, or next year, if Chris Cocks did not do this, and the team gave us all what they promised, and wanted to make for us all. But since he does not care about anyone else but himself, he screwed everyone over. The fans, the team behind the show, the actors, everyone got screwed over because of him so fast. Fun fact, because he cost them over a billion dollars from bad product sales, which was all his fault for being a bad CEO, over another billion dollars from the net income they lost from selling eOne, and the 3.5 billion dollars they lost when he sold it for such a small amount, he really cost them over 6 billion dollars in just 3 months, that is insane! How is he not fired?! And of all the people who had to become CEO after Brian Goldner's death, why did it have to be him?! He is ruining Hasbro as a company, and all of their brands. No one is buying anything that they make now, and it will only get worse with that going forward. No one will want to purchase or play any games that they will make in the future, and it will only get worse in general. A lot of people are not even liking a lot of the shows and movies they make now, because he is a very bad leader. He does not have any passion for this stuff, unlike Brian Goldner, who showed he did have passion, and did care for everything that he did. He ruined the company's reputation that Brian Goldner wanted to make for it. Now no one is looking forward to anything from them anymore, and the company will eventually go bankrupt, and another company may end up buying them and taking over their brands, or just have them sell them off to other companies and have them start things over their way. That may be for the best now, because again, he ruined everything for everyone, and now we have no trust in this 100-year-old company that brought so many people so much awesome entertainment for a long time. With him in charge, we will have no hope from them, and a new CEO may not be able to fix things even if someone else takes over. His stain on Hasbro will never leave it. And all of the money and employees they will keep losing, will make it worse, and they will never get anything back from this. It is basically all over for Hasbro at this point. Hopefully a new company steps in, and makes things better for us someday, because right now, we have basically no confidence, or faith in them anymore due to what he has done, and he will only continue to do. He thinks Brian had the wrong vision, but clearly, he is completely wrong with that, this toxic new leader, has the wrong vision, for sure. I find it so weird to have them release new songs for episodes, that never got their productions finished, it makes no sense at all. Now we can't listen to those songs, as we will now never see their episodes. It just makes us all angrier and more upset. You are supposed to release new songs, only if you know you will release an episode it is from. This is something no other company has ever done. All of the concept art that were made for characters, and backgrounds for locations that were revealed, all of the songs and episode dialogue that were written, and then recorded, all the scripts, all of the songs, all of the storyboard arts that were made, all of the animation that was used for episodes, that strangely never got finished, when they should have been, it was all for nothing now. They should have finished production on all of that, and then release them. That is what you are supposed to do. So, to do this, also makes no sense at all. Everything they did, with all of that hard work, was all for nothing now, and it is all because of him! Everyone wanted to make this all happen, and bring it to life, and see it all. But he did not care, and so now he has broken the hearts and trust of millions of fans, as well as the actors, and the team behind the production of this season. The actors all wanted to keep voicing the characters because they all loved it, and they all had so much fun doing it. The entire team behind it all had a lot of ideas they wanted to bring to life. And us the fans, all wanted to see it all happen, and get an amazing season that we would all never forget. But now, we will all never forget what he has done, and we will all never forgive him for this. I know this is a lot, but I have so much to say about this, and we are all just so disgusted at what he has done. Also, you were wrong about a few things. 1. Hasbro wanted to release the film in theaters with Paramount, as they had planned it for a few years. But due to the pandemic, the movie theaters were still not doing so well. So, instead of pushing the release date back even more, they went to Netflix to release the film on time, and so at least Brian got to see it before his death. Even though, they did release a movie in theaters that summer, but it did bomb in the box office, maybe for that reason from the pandemic. 2. The way MYM ended was meant to foreshadow season 2 of TYT, as it was greenlit earlier that year, back when they had the money for it, before Chris Cocks made them lose all of it, causing this to happen. They never wanted to do more than what we got in the end. They revealed that they only planned to do 4 specials, and 23 episodes, to equal 27 in total from the start, and that is what they gave us all. 3. MYM does not have just one season, it has 4 seasons. The first 3 chapters are all treated as the first season, and the last 3 chapters are all their own season, making it 4 in total.
i hardly ever leave comments (i honestly dont think i’ve written one in several years) but i need you to know how good you are at what you do!! i wouldn’t even call myself an mlp fan-i only watched the first few seasons of fim 10-12 years ago and the g4+g5 movies a few months ago-but despite that you’re one of my favorite content creators on youtube. you are just SO engaging and fun to listen to!! this video especially, with the casino theme and such, was really charming, and even though im not super heavily invested in the franchise, i would happily sit down to watch you talk about mlp for two hours. i think you’re a natural entertainer and im very excited to see what you do next! : )

g5 was trying hard but Hasbro was too lazy to make new toys and episodes and shove g4 into it and couldn't finish season 2 of tell your tale properly which makes me angry and canceled it without telling us until it too late. 😡
Not just lazy, but they cowered away from it. The old guard of hasbro didn't want to be disney and just wanted to be what hasbro was always been, a toy company. Being disney-like would require a huge culture shift to be very procreative. May Goldberg rest in peace, he really tried. But to be honest I was not that surprised. G4 was a miracle and I am happy to have seen both G4 and G5 come along. Never thought I would be so invested in pony.
Thank you, this clarifies a lot about what happened with G5! I really enjoyed its run, alongside the previous MLP iterations and it’s sad seeing it come to an end so soon. While it’s not bad for generations to reuse concepts (quite the opposite, it’s great seeing returning concepts and characters and seeing what that generation does for them), trying to make G5 a sequel to G4 really shot it in the foot.
I hope that Hasbro lets generation 5 flourish, we cannot have this big of a cliffhanger of a series, and if there’s a generation 6, that will be my breaking point on My Little Pony!
As a fan of FiM, I loved giving G5 a chance. I've only watched the movie and the Netflix series. Imagine my surprise when the show just stopped. We got some specials and that's it. No new season. I grew to really like Zipp and Izzy. I guess Misty too. And I wish G5 had a stronger foundation - a core story and kinda genre, because they just couldn't make up their mind. I feel like G5 had awesome potential but it had too much expectation after G4 and just collapsed under said pressure.
I am a G5 enjoyer just as much as I loved G4 and I really do enjoy watching your opinions on G5 and I feel sorry you get so much hate by other G5 fans and I am sorry they literally forced you to stop talking about it upsets me greatly as a fan of G5 I feel ashamed for them. I really liked a lot of G5 and while I really wish we could see an end to Allura's story... I agree with what you said at the end. G5 was dying before we saw it on our screens, and it would be painful to see it try and continue from here. It just wouldn't be worth it and I'd rather see them start from scratch with G6. Maybe characters and consepts can make a return there and get the justice they deserve
As a fan of both G3, FiM and G5, I say in everyone’s words, is that we have our own opinions. I feel bad how G5 was treated by the company that owns them, the toxic fans who black lashes those who like, and then people who worked so hard to make it a success. Ykw, I think that G5 shouldn't have ended. They still have time to fix their mistakes and make the future episodes, one by one, deeper and interesting until it becomes the series it should have been. The story is going nowhere and this isn't a bad thing. This can be fixed! New things can added and things already there can be explained!
I'm not sure why people keep saying the animation was 'bad'. Some episodes had weaknesses, sure, and were worse than others, but the animation itself wasn't technically bad. It was actually very good more often than not (there was only a few episodes that felt unpolished). People just tend to say 'bad' whenever they don't like a style, or its too snappy for their taste, or they just think its ugly. Just seems like such an unfair criticism to me.
Slight correction, only in the states did G2 only last 3 years... in fact it was more like two and a half. Outside of the US, in places like Europe, it did alright and sold toys until 2003. Thus it was more like 5 years making G5 the shortest MLP generation ever
Nah, if they did Transformers first, we would've never gotten a new MLP generation. Or if we did, it would've turned out more similar to G3 with the way Chris Cocks is running things.
To be honest I was expecting the continued series of MLP: Make Your Mark with Allura replacing Opaline as the next villian along with Twitch as they went through the portal to Equestria while intending to recover the star and get revenge on Sunny and her friends. I was more curious to know who is the voice that spoke Allura who revealed to be her brother but it looks like we'll never another series as the writers decided to leave this episode finale as a cliffhangers. I also was hoping in MLP: Tell Your Tale season two will continued until it gets to 70 episodes just like the first season because in "The Lone Alicorn" I assume that Sunny and her friends were going to try to find any Alicorn exist just as the Sunny as well as Allura's brother won't make his appearence in MLP: Make Your Mark at all but still hope that he will especially that he did make an appearence in Allura's backstory when they were cubs. However I did hear from someone that on the 17th October that there will one final episode of MLP: Tell Your Tale Season two before this series going to end forever just like MLP: Make Your Mark. I've very disappointed of the news because I would like to see the Ponies learn the truth about Allura and decided to help her get back home to reunited with her brother unfortunately might not happen at all which is a biggest disappointment because I really hate cliffhangers.

3D artist here: Maya is uniquely notorious for crashing, it does crash but one of the reasons Maya is industry standard is actually because it is more STABLE then many programs. It's pretty reliable despite all of it's misgivings. Much like the gaming industry regardless of how stable a standard is the medium itself is finicky just how no matter how great a PC is you may still deal with issues. Also, Maya is not MAY-A, it's Mai·uh. As for being given movie grade models I have no idea how they managed to mess that up SO bad, a part of me wonders if they had to bake some elements into the characters for it to be even viable. A part of me genuinely wonders if the price simply retopoing the characters and changing the style up would of vastly improved the quality of the animation.
I would love to see your source on Zipp's VA's interview (I can't spell her name) and the fact that "the original drafts for chapters of Make Your Mark were very different from what we got". That sounds fascinating! I'd like to read further.
nothing will ever top g4, but g5 was special in its own way. trying to base another gen off g4 (but changing the lore of the world) was a death sentence because of people's expectations. but we can hope that future gens will have the freedom to create stories without the burden of the fandom's desire for another version/continuation of g4. peace and love, great video as always ♡
“Care Bears 2” was the film that I remember since I was a kid. The movie flopped before the original “My Little Pony: The Movie” came along, and that was 1986.
Late stage capitalism has been pushing like every company to the fucking edge because nobody wants to take a gamble now and it’s stunting them. It’s why so many projects are getting tossed away and focuses on “The big name” brands of the last 40 years are being pushed instead. And the thing is… it’s not entirely the companies fault. They are doing what they are doing because most people do not care about quality, they just like the shiny thing that has a recognizable name on it. So they thought it would be easy cash. And in a sense it was, but only for so long. Then Covid happened, fucked the economy in ways it still hasn’t fully recovered from and now companies are to dead set in their next 10 year plan of “resell the popular shit” to want to change it because it actually might kill them. The best thing to do is wait this storm out and pray that once it ends companies will start gambling again because it’s not looking good for anyone across the board.
It is a real shame. And not fair to the fans that have grown to love G5. I really love the characters and world of G5. It took a bit to warm up to it, like u mention, Ch1 of MYM was a bit rough. Ch2 really won me over. Then Misty came and stole the show. But, yea, so much potential and questions about what happened to the G4 world, but they only teased a few things, and never could do what needed to be done, bring more G4 lore into G5, to make G5 the best it could be. And TYT, just confused things, with its short and randomness, and conflicting with MYM at times. Then, S2, so much fluff and plotless episodes, the actual good episodes where they continue the main plot, get lost among all the fluff. But, they added some amazing new lore, but, then dropped it. Now, as they just start to get back to it, they killed it. Now, fans will never know what was planned for those characters.... that just sucks. Really gonna miss them.
I just hope we can learn more about the planned story beats and details that were cancelled so at least fans can continue the series in some form. That and that G6 has moved on from three G4 characters and Misty in -Apple Bloom’s- Knock- Off Tree Hugger’s Cutie Mark summer camp.
To be honest, MLP: Make Your Mark was honestly one of the worst shows I have ever seen. And to be honest, I cannot believe that this was from the same studio that made The Last Kids on Earth back in 2019, and honestly, I loved that show when I was really young and I even played the game when I was 11 back in 2021 (but would later lose interest on it and eventually forget that it ever existed when I got older up to this point where I turned 15 years of age back in October). And also, on the Goldner and Cocks story where Goldner made a big plan to make G5 the best generation ever only for Cocks to sh!t all over it by turning it into purely bland garabage that only digs even deeper in the wond that animation is just for kids when it can be for adults too? .....it's literally Richard Williams' The Thief and The Cobbler story all over again,.
Also, f**k Hasbro for not only their management but selling Boulder Media to Princess Pictures (a company that hasn't done sh!t with them) is just so stupid and confusing. I mean, why couldn't they sell Hasbro to another Australian company like Flying Bark Productions (Monkie Kid and Rise of the TMNT) or a company outside of Australia or some sh!t like that?

What's crazy to me is, if you go into Make Your Mark with an open mind, you can still find so much stuff there that's actually enjoyable despite all of the hell Cox and Hasbro corporate put it through. Gillian Berrow is just that good of a writer that she kept it together. F*ck Hasbro.

Meghan McCarthy would have saved G5 if she was hired as lead writer. She also saved G4 from cancellation in S3 and made it to S9
Most of us who enjoyed seasons 1-2 or 1-3 say she killed mlp with season 3 and made it a bastardization of what g4 truly was.
There is a huge difference between season 1-2 bronies and 3-on bronies. And even within season 1 and 2, some do not accept season2 as canon but they are the mega purists
Disney is not a good model. Disney's direct control leads to "executive meddling. Some of Disney's best movies - The Lion King and Lilo and Stitch - were "B" team movies - they were filler before Pocahontas and Treasure Planet respectively, and they were great because they largely escaped executive meddling because the executives were too busy meddling with Pocahontas and Treasure Planet, which Disney "planned" to be the major hits. And the reward Lilo and Stitch's directors and writers (Sanders and DeBlois) received was to be fired. (Not to worry, they went to Dreamworks to make How To Train Your Dragon). Disney has a track record of firing or pushing people out, only for them to come back to challenge Disney (Lesseter and Bluth, to name two more).
Time and time again, the formula for creating great animation is to find great writers and directors, and leave them along to create their art. That's how G4 was created - they handed creative control to Faust who was talented and passionate about the brand.
But I think expanding into media was the right move - toys have been a shrinking market for over a decade, and kids are spending more time watching "screens". Hasbro had to expand out of toys in order to grow, and expanding into the growing media market was a necessity. And now Hasbro is retracting into the shrinking toy market? That will not end well.

9:41. Let me correct you here. The scrapped concepts that were leaked in 2017 were very, *very* different from how G4 was a "reboot" of G3. I cringe when people call G4 a reboot of G3. It's only a reboot in the loosest sense. A lot of the characters are actually from G1, and the G3 characters that did make it through had totally different personalities. G4 is a less a reboot of G3 and more a mash of G1 concepts, G3 character designs, and Lauren Faust's original ideas. In short, while it does make homage to previous generations, it is basically new and a fresh start for the franchise.
The 2017 leaks were pretty much the antithesis of that. All six main characters were coming through, most of them unscathed. Fluttershy with a horn is still Fluttershy. The only one who really changed was Applejack, and fans were upset about that. The 2017 reboot plans were a much more one-to-one reboot of G4 rather than a mash of homage and original ideas. Regardless of how successful you think that might have been (I think it would have been a flop), it's not the same as previous generations like G4 and G3 that were much softer "reboots."

This^^^ as a kid who grew up watching g3 and g4 I was about to comment similar. g4 rarity looks nothing like g3. G3 scootaloo was part of the main cast with the rest instead of being a younger character. She was part of the core 7.
Cox needs to learn you CANNOT go back on a gamble. Goldner already sunk the company's money into making G5 GOOD. Playing it safe wasn't going to save them. Taking risks like Goldner did to turn Hasbro into a serious player in the entertainment space was the best way to turn a profit and probably the only way to ever follow up G4. And it was such a smart move considering how bad Disney has gotten. Hasbro stepping up and suddenly being bigger than they'd ever been would have been huge for their company. But it doesn't come for free. It takes a gamble, and Goldner had the strategy to play a winning hand. Then Cox and corporate Hasbro decided to back down on his plan and just... Fold. But it was too late for that, they'd already lost so much money that the only way to see any return from it would be to go full steam ahead.
Goldner gave the company a life raft with instructions on how to survive but instead they left Cox in charge of the instructions and he decided to come up with their own plan, and threw the instructions overboard. Now he’s in charge of a burning ship that’s slowly sinking and he’s the one holding the smoking gun

Wow, this video was very informative and educational. The more I think about it, I can see parallels between Sunny Starscout and Goldner, and the same could be said for characters like Sprout and Posey and Chris Cox. You have someone who wants to improve and expand Hasbro’s horizons and basically be progressive, and you have someone else who likely wanted things to stay the status quo like Sprout and Posey did. And unlike Sunny and Golder, Cox won for the most part. I’m currently using your video as reference and motivation for my open letter video to Hasbro regarding the future of G5 and MLP as a whole going forward. Even if it does very little to change things, if even just one person within the company passes it along to the right people, it’d be worth it. The least we can do now for G5 is support it now more than ever by rewatching the shows, buying what merchandise is available and so on. It may not be completely dead, but it’s safe to say it’s like it’s on life support or in a deep coma.

I am glad that you made this video, to let all of the fans know what happened with Hasbro. How they lost so much money, so fast, because of Chris Cocks, that they could not afford production on the season anymore, and that this all happened because of his stupidity, and incompetence.
I found out about how much money they lost in mid-February, and started to spread the word out to fans, to help them all understand that this is probably part of the reason why this happened.
They had all of the money that they needed for this season last year, when they greenlit it, but he caused them to lose it all so quickly. We all were so looking forward to so much from this season, as it had so much potential to be such a great season, and it was at first.
They even foreshadowed for so much to happen, that we all wanted to see happen, and now, we all won't get to see any of it at all because of him.
The team wanted to make it all happen, and the actors were all so looking forward to voicing the characters for this season, and we, the fans, all wanted to see it all happen.
But, because of what he did, we all had to pay the price for this, and we can never forgive him for this. We all hate Chris Cocks so much with all of our souls, hearts, and guts. He has no soul or heart of his own, if he does stuff like this. He is a heartless, soulless, and ruthless tyrant, and he should not only be fired for this, but he should also go to jail.
How often do you hear about a company having to abruptly end production on one of its most successful shows, right after a new season begins, due to the company losing so much money, so fast, due to its CEO making really bad decisions, and can't do their own job right, showing us all just how incompetent that they are, and not being able to afford working on its production anymore for that reason? Or even just because the CEO does not care about the show being successful, or even care about what the team wants to do, and they only think about themselves, and their own selfish goals and desires, and not even caring about what the fans want, and also the actors who play or voice the characters?
I have never seen that happen before, and I am sure that a lot of people have not either.
Seriously, Hasbro needs a new CEO for sure, 100%. We can all agree on that.
Chris Cocks is ruining everything for MLP, and also for Hasbro themselves, along with all of their other brands. He now wants to change how the company works going forward. He needs to go ASAP.
I just found out, because he wants to turn the company into a gaming company, that is also why he did this. They still had the money to work on this season, but he just wants to use their money on what he wants to do. Even if he did not cost them all of that money, he probably still would have done this anyway. Making apps and video games cost a lot more than making a show or film, regardless of the production of it, if it is either live action or animated.
He also wants to focus more on teens and adults as well. That may have also played a part in this happening. I found an article from back in 2022, saying that he does not care about shows and movies, just games. He does not even care about making products either. So why is he in charge at all, right?!
The article also said, he does not care about a show's success, and if products do not sell well, then he won't even care for a show at all. He should have cared about the show being successful, and want to keep it going for that reason, which is what you should do, and that is why the team behind the show wanted to keep it going, like how it was with FIM. Brian Goldner would have kept it going like they did with G4, he was a true CEO that showed how much he really cared, whereas Chris Cocks, does not.
If the team knew about this ahead of time, and knew how Chris Cocks was, they would not have greenlit season 2, and everything would have ended last year, which was the original plan before they decided to do this season, and they should have done that now. The last MYM special, and the last 3 TYT episodes would have been different, and give us all the proper ending that was meant to be.
We will never know how this generation would have ended if it was last year from their original plan, or next year, if Chris Cocks did not do this, and the team gave us all what they promised, and wanted to make for us all. But since he does not care about anyone else but himself, he screwed everyone over. The fans, the team behind the show, the actors, everyone got screwed over because of him so fast.
Fun fact, because he cost them over a billion dollars from bad product sales, which was all his fault for being a bad CEO, over another billion dollars from the net income they lost from selling eOne, and the 3.5 billion dollars they lost when he sold it for such a small amount, he really cost them over 6 billion dollars in just 3 months, that is insane! How is he not fired?! And of all the people who had to become CEO after Brian Goldner's death, why did it have to be him?! He is ruining Hasbro as a company, and all of their brands. No one is buying anything that they make now, and it will only get worse with that going forward. No one will want to purchase or play any games that they will make in the future, and it will only get worse in general. A lot of people are not even liking a lot of the shows and movies they make now, because he is a very bad leader. He does not have any passion for this stuff, unlike Brian Goldner, who showed he did have passion, and did care for everything that he did.
He ruined the company's reputation that Brian Goldner wanted to make for it. Now no one is looking forward to anything from them anymore, and the company will eventually go bankrupt, and another company may end up buying them and taking over their brands, or just have them sell them off to other companies and have them start things over their way. That may be for the best now, because again, he ruined everything for everyone, and now we have no trust in this 100-year-old company that brought so many people so much awesome entertainment for a long time. With him in charge, we will have no hope from them, and a new CEO may not be able to fix things even if someone else takes over. His stain on Hasbro will never leave it. And all of the money and employees they will keep losing, will make it worse, and they will never get anything back from this.
It is basically all over for Hasbro at this point. Hopefully a new company steps in, and makes things better for us someday, because right now, we have basically no confidence, or faith in them anymore due to what he has done, and he will only continue to do. He thinks Brian had the wrong vision, but clearly, he is completely wrong with that, this toxic new leader, has the wrong vision, for sure.
I find it so weird to have them release new songs for episodes, that never got their productions finished, it makes no sense at all. Now we can't listen to those songs, as we will now never see their episodes. It just makes us all angrier and more upset. You are supposed to release new songs, only if you know you will release an episode it is from. This is something no other company has ever done.
All of the concept art that were made for characters, and backgrounds for locations that were revealed, all of the songs and episode dialogue that were written, and then recorded, all the scripts, all of the songs, all of the storyboard arts that were made, all of the animation that was used for episodes, that strangely never got finished, when they should have been, it was all for nothing now. They should have finished production on all of that, and then release them. That is what you are supposed to do. So, to do this, also makes no sense at all. Everything they did, with all of that hard work, was all for nothing now, and it is all because of him!
Everyone wanted to make this all happen, and bring it to life, and see it all. But he did not care, and so now he has broken the hearts and trust of millions of fans, as well as the actors, and the team behind the production of this season.
The actors all wanted to keep voicing the characters because they all loved it, and they all had so much fun doing it. The entire team behind it all had a lot of ideas they wanted to bring to life. And us the fans, all wanted to see it all happen, and get an amazing season that we would all never forget. But now, we will all never forget what he has done, and we will all never forgive him for this.
I know this is a lot, but I have so much to say about this, and we are all just so disgusted at what he has done.
Also, you were wrong about a few things.
1. Hasbro wanted to release the film in theaters with Paramount, as they had planned it for a few years. But due to the pandemic, the movie theaters were still not doing so well. So, instead of pushing the release date back even more, they went to Netflix to release the film on time, and so at least Brian got to see it before his death. Even though, they did release a movie in theaters that summer, but it did bomb in the box office, maybe for that reason from the pandemic.
2. The way MYM ended was meant to foreshadow season 2 of TYT, as it was greenlit earlier that year, back when they had the money for it, before Chris Cocks made them lose all of it, causing this to happen. They never wanted to do more than what we got in the end. They revealed that they only planned to do 4 specials, and 23 episodes, to equal 27 in total from the start, and that is what they gave us all.
3. MYM does not have just one season, it has 4 seasons. The first 3 chapters are all treated as the first season, and the last 3 chapters are all their own season, making it 4 in total.
i hardly ever leave comments (i honestly dont think i’ve written one in several years) but i need you to know how good you are at what you do!! i wouldn’t even call myself an mlp fan-i only watched the first few seasons of fim 10-12 years ago and the g4+g5 movies a few months ago-but despite that you’re one of my favorite content creators on youtube. you are just SO engaging and fun to listen to!! this video especially, with the casino theme and such, was really charming, and even though im not super heavily invested in the franchise, i would happily sit down to watch you talk about mlp for two hours. i think you’re a natural entertainer and im very excited to see what you do next! : )

Thank you, this clarifies a lot about what happened with G5! I really enjoyed its run, alongside the previous MLP iterations and it’s sad seeing it come to an end so soon.
While it’s not bad for generations to reuse concepts (quite the opposite, it’s great seeing returning concepts and characters and seeing what that generation does for them), trying to make G5 a sequel to G4 really shot it in the foot.
I hope that Hasbro lets generation 5 flourish, we cannot have this big of a cliffhanger of a series, and if there’s a generation 6, that will be my breaking point on My Little Pony!

As a fan of FiM, I loved giving G5 a chance. I've only watched the movie and the Netflix series.
Imagine my surprise when the show just stopped. We got some specials and that's it. No new season.
I grew to really like Zipp and Izzy. I guess Misty too.
And I wish G5 had a stronger foundation - a core story and kinda genre, because they just couldn't make up their mind.

I really liked a lot of G5 and while I really wish we could see an end to Allura's story... I agree with what you said at the end. G5 was dying before we saw it on our screens, and it would be painful to see it try and continue from here. It just wouldn't be worth it and I'd rather see them start from scratch with G6. Maybe characters and consepts can make a return there and get the justice they deserve
As a fan of both G3, FiM and G5, I say in everyone’s words, is that we have our own opinions. I feel bad how G5 was treated by the company that owns them, the toxic fans who black lashes those who like, and then people who worked so hard to make it a success.
Make fun at me all you want, I’ll always love MLP FiM and G5, as long as the fan contents are still going on, as well as fan films, fictions and others made by awesome fans who have passion for the franchise. #HonorMLPG5 #MLPG5 #MLPFiM

Ykw, I think that G5 shouldn't have ended. They still have time to fix their mistakes and make the future episodes, one by one, deeper and interesting until it becomes the series it should have been. The story is going nowhere and this isn't a bad thing. This can be fixed! New things can added and things already there can be explained!
I feel like even if a show isn't great, it deserves to have its story fully told
I'm not sure why people keep saying the animation was 'bad'. Some episodes had weaknesses, sure, and were worse than others, but the animation itself wasn't technically bad. It was actually very good more often than not (there was only a few episodes that felt unpolished). People just tend to say 'bad' whenever they don't like a style, or its too snappy for their taste, or they just think its ugly. Just seems like such an unfair criticism to me.
Slight correction, only in the states did G2 only last 3 years... in fact it was more like two and a half. Outside of the US, in places like Europe, it did alright and sold toys until 2003. Thus it was more like 5 years making G5 the shortest MLP generation ever
They should have test transformers first 💀 we could have better G5 with great story, lore and more seasons.
Nah, if they did Transformers first, we would've never gotten a new MLP generation. Or if we did, it would've turned out more similar to G3 with the way Chris Cocks is running things.

To be honest I was expecting the continued series of MLP: Make Your Mark with Allura replacing Opaline as the next villian along with Twitch as they went through the portal to Equestria while intending to recover the star and get revenge on Sunny and her friends. I was more curious to know who is the voice that spoke Allura who revealed to be her brother but it looks like we'll never another series as the writers decided to leave this episode finale as a cliffhangers.
I also was hoping in MLP: Tell Your Tale season two will continued until it gets to 70 episodes just like the first season because in "The Lone Alicorn" I assume that Sunny and her friends were going to try to find any Alicorn exist just as the Sunny as well as Allura's brother won't make his appearence in MLP: Make Your Mark at all but still hope that he will especially that he did make an appearence in Allura's backstory when they were cubs.
However I did hear from someone that on the 17th October that there will one final episode of MLP: Tell Your Tale Season two before this series going to end forever just like MLP: Make Your Mark. I've very disappointed of the news because I would like to see the Ponies learn the truth about Allura and decided to help her get back home to reunited with her brother unfortunately might not happen at all which is a biggest disappointment because I really hate cliffhangers.

3D artist here: Maya is uniquely notorious for crashing, it does crash but one of the reasons Maya is industry standard is actually because it is more STABLE then many programs. It's pretty reliable despite all of it's misgivings. Much like the gaming industry regardless of how stable a standard is the medium itself is finicky just how no matter how great a PC is you may still deal with issues.
Also, Maya is not MAY-A, it's Mai·uh.
As for being given movie grade models I have no idea how they managed to mess that up SO bad, a part of me wonders if they had to bake some elements into the characters for it to be even viable. A part of me genuinely wonders if the price simply retopoing the characters and changing the style up would of vastly improved the quality of the animation.
We have to stand tall and demand more g5.

nothing will ever top g4, but g5 was special in its own way. trying to base another gen off g4 (but changing the lore of the world) was a death sentence because of people's expectations. but we can hope that future gens will have the freedom to create stories without the burden of the fandom's desire for another version/continuation of g4. peace and love, great video as always ♡

Late stage capitalism has been pushing like every company to the fucking edge because nobody wants to take a gamble now and it’s stunting them. It’s why so many projects are getting tossed away and focuses on “The big name” brands of the last 40 years are being pushed instead. And the thing is… it’s not entirely the companies fault. They are doing what they are doing because most people do not care about quality, they just like the shiny thing that has a recognizable name on it. So they thought it would be easy cash. And in a sense it was, but only for so long. Then Covid happened, fucked the economy in ways it still hasn’t fully recovered from and now companies are to dead set in their next 10 year plan of “resell the popular shit” to want to change it because it actually might kill them. The best thing to do is wait this storm out and pray that once it ends companies will start gambling again because it’s not looking good for anyone across the board.
New Generation is one of my feel good movies, the characters are great. 🦄✨️

Mlp G5 was the opposite failure of Transformers Beast Wars
It is a real shame. And not fair to the fans that have grown to love G5. I really love the characters and world of G5. It took a bit to warm up to it, like u mention, Ch1 of MYM was a bit rough. Ch2 really won me over. Then Misty came and stole the show. But, yea, so much potential and questions about what happened to the G4 world, but they only teased a few things, and never could do what needed to be done, bring more G4 lore into G5, to make G5 the best it could be. And TYT, just confused things, with its short and randomness, and conflicting with MYM at times. Then, S2, so much fluff and plotless episodes, the actual good episodes where they continue the main plot, get lost among all the fluff. But, they added some amazing new lore, but, then dropped it. Now, as they just start to get back to it, they killed it. Now, fans will never know what was planned for those characters.... that just sucks. Really gonna miss them.
I just hope we can learn more about the planned story beats and details that were cancelled so at least fans can continue the series in some form.
That and that G6 has moved on from three G4 characters and Misty in -Apple Bloom’s- Knock- Off Tree Hugger’s Cutie Mark summer camp.

To be honest, MLP: Make Your Mark was honestly one of the worst shows I have ever seen. And to be honest, I cannot believe that this was from the same studio that made The Last Kids on Earth back in 2019, and honestly, I loved that show when I was really young and I even played the game when I was 11 back in 2021 (but would later lose interest on it and eventually forget that it ever existed when I got older up to this point where I turned 15 years of age back in October).
And also, on the Goldner and Cocks story where Goldner made a big plan to make G5 the best generation ever only for Cocks to sh!t all over it by turning it into purely bland garabage that only digs even deeper in the wond that animation is just for kids when it can be for adults too? .....it's literally Richard Williams' The Thief and The Cobbler story all over again,.
Also, f**k Hasbro for not only their management but selling Boulder Media to Princess Pictures (a company that hasn't done sh!t with them) is just so stupid and confusing. I mean, why couldn't they sell Hasbro to another Australian company like Flying Bark Productions (Monkie Kid and Rise of the TMNT) or a company outside of Australia or some sh!t like that?

@@AlicornPrincess I think Chapek kind of got the short end of the stick. Iger's first time running Disney was already running some of the projects that flopped for Chapek. Iger didn't even give up the CEO office to the guy! It kind of looks like Iger realized there were problems on the way and let someone else take the blame. And it isn't like Iger has done anything to turn it around since he came back.
If their goal is to just sell toys then G3 was okay, sure the shows are not in the same quality as G4 but they were aiming low and at least it was successful enough that people talked about it even though its in a negative parody kinda way.
