Cozie Glow being a unicorn that doesnt like to use magic and Starburst an earth pony who yearns for it is such a cool thing! I can already imagine a ‘body swap episode’ where at first, theyre both quite happy (Starburst being delighted) but they eventually get to the conclusion that they wamt to be themselves the most, even if for Starburst thst means missing magic (hes actually so trans coded)
They make for really good counterparts to each other and have so much built in conflict! I really like how Starburst vs Cozy Glow and Whysteria vs Cherrie pie gives a tension to the friend group right from the start. Trixie struggling after getting her cutie mark could also pair well with Sol not having one yet (cause some anxiety for her)
I think the "they prefer to be themselves" thing can be added onto a bit. I can see starburst missing memorizing spells and learning about them, while cozy glow enjoys having the extra help of her magic for art. another small idea, I think that this episode would make cozy glow wanna look a bit more friendly so that she can feel comfortable selling stuff without looking unapproach-able, since starburst looks pretty friendly. this could lead to her using magic (or having her friends help) to change up her look a bit, moving forward into her arc (ALSO YES TRANS STARBURST WORLD DOMINATION ALTHOUGH I DONT KNOW IF HE'D BE TRANSMASC OR UNKNOWINGLY TRANSFEM..)
The comment about Starburst being "born in the wrong body" and having an interest in magic that he can't act upon gave me huge trans vibes. I love this whole cast but I think Cozyglow, Cherry Pie, and Starburst are my favorites

I can ABSOLUTELY see Starburst coaching Trixie every time she uses magic wrong (or just coaching Trixie in general?!?). Every. Single. Time. Without fail, not even in a life-or-death situation where they're running for their lives. The only times it doesn't happen is when Starburst is away from Trixie when it happens.
Oh i think its funnier if Trixie is sometimes annoyed with constant remarks from Starburst but at the very moment she Actually needed an advice she doesnt have him around and/or didnt listen close enough to his yapping about the very thing shes encountering.
@@its_4amm The only one who actually listens to Starbursts rambling is Cherry Pie, but she's not actually paying attention, if you get what I mean. Like listening to a little kid ramble about their hyperfixation of the week (Cherry Pie's clearly had practise with that).

That's exactly what I was thinking! I like the idea of slow burn arc of subconscious resentment. It wouldn't take up the whole show but it would be an important part of their development. A culmination moment I picture is them trying to solve a problem and Starburst goes through his spell book for the perfect spell and starts trying to coach Cozy glow to do it. And she kinda flippantly brushes him off saying something like "or I could just grab •insert tool•" So he snaps at her.
The moment you said Cherry Pie and Wysteria were foils/rivals me and my friends(who watched this together) all collectively shouted "LESBIANS! ARE THEY IN LESBIANS WITH EACH OTHER??" and I think that's beautiful. I love Wysteria is gorgeous by the way, I love the soft green-purple color pallet.
Lil lore idea:What if the main 6 in this gen actually represents a stereotypical negative emotion like envy or arrogance and they have to find a way to figure out how to make those feelings positive if that make sense?for example,if the emotions they represent in envy instead of being envious of another pony they find a way to make it so that they can help set out goals to themself and what not.i think it’ll be really interesting for characters development!!
I feel like Cozy glow and Sun burst would get into a major argument about magic. He would be mad that she doesn't really use her magic and that she should be "grateful" she has magic.
I haven't even finished the video, I'm at 8:46, and I'm just so happy that Starburst sounds like a trans allegory because Sunburst always reads like a he/they transmasc (I may have been projecting a bit...), but I also just like it because I think about this being an actual kid show, and I can't tell you how much I would appreciate a trans allegory like that that I could've related to as a kid. EDIT: I. Love. This. Also, i love the idea of a dragon pet for StarBurst, but i really would like the idea of Starburst cracking a magical code and making POTIONS....Idk i think thatd be SO cool

I feel like when people do "next gen designs" they always stray far from the original building blocks (like the main 6 being the colors of the rainbow, being some kind of archetype, ...) but this lineup did it perfectly- also I am a big Trixie fan so I ADORE her being the main character yss pleaseeee
I love how you recognized what made gen 4 so strong: color palettes, personalities, dreams, talents, etc. and made sure you included it! You also did a really good job of making sure none of them were replicas of gen 4 mane 6 like i think gen 5 did. I think gen 5 tried so hard to copy its success. Your version feels like another natural generation of g4. This group has so much potential for chemistry/beef. Cherry trying to be a big sister to sol who doesn't need it, starburst being perpetually jealous of cozy glow and Trixie (and Trixie reveling in it), cherry pie and wysteria getting into arguments about working hard. I just feel like Trixie doesn't really fit. I don't know if it's how you introduced her last, but I feel like having a main character who has no clue what she wants to do could be REALLY powerful. Her watching the rest accomplish their goals while she still has no clue what she wants to do. Maybe she's one of the oldest and still doesn't have her cutie mark so always wears a cloak to cover it. Her being an earth pony could also help because she can't focus on magic or flying. It could also be a good leeway to becoming the alicorn princess (I am a fan of the main character becoming an alicorn. sue me) I just feel like her sassy demeanor isn't really contrasted by anyone.
It'd be so cool at the end of the series if it's an episode where everyone's fulfilled their dreams. Like a little montage type thing with Starburst finishing a class and Sol coming in afterwards since they're a freshman in college then panning towards Wysteria and Cozy Glow working together (like Wysteria having commissioned Cozy's art for the grand opening of her business or something like that) then everyone shows up to either Cherry/Trixie's first super big performance!
I have a fun idea for Sol! I think you could make Sol a protective younger sibling by making them constantly defending and fighting people for Starburst! They think they have to defend Starburst because of his destiny being seemingly unobtainable. This could take the protective older sibling trope and turn it on its head. It could also give Sol something to relate to with Cherry where Cherry can bring her wisdom to the table to help Sol. You can also have Sol have a secret, guilty fear that they will end up having a cutie mark like Starburst’s that will be seemingly impossible to achieve (which can play into the whole who we make ourselves to be, not what we were told to be thing)

Oooo I really like the transition from focusing from something basic to something more young adult in a way Especially with the play on cutie marks Also I think MLP: Fate and destiny Since fate is something out of someone's control like the characters struggling to gain something they wish because of no magic or personality and destiny they're trying to push to do what they love but feel they cant
I've never been the biggest mlp fan ( I watched it in passing ) but this? THIS destroyed my art block. I love the story, the concept, and you can already feel the characters in a way.
i am sooo invested in how the dynamics between Starburst, Cozy Glow, and Trixie would turn out. Trixie being a unicorn who infamously flaunts her magic at every turn and Cozy Glow actively choosing NOT to use her magic - such two extremes that I KNOW Starburst would absolutely struggle with !!! it would be so interesting to see how ideas of envy and even possible resentment towards friends could be tackled here

Tho, maybe i'm just blind af but the sketch that you did for Trixie looks alot like her special ability is knitting--- Ohh and yess, the tradition : self insert (love the design fkkkffjz) And ohhh the lore that you prepared for this gen 6 is so interesting! I love these designs!! I really like Starbust, and his story idea you had for him! Now I'm curious how he got his cutie mark, cause if he can't do the magic how'd he do it to get his mark? Did he correct a spell or something? A possible name for his familiar could be something funnily formal (Augustus Thaddeus III as a more human example) or maybe something his sister named and you can clearly tell? The second option could show how it doesn't really listen to him, refusing any of the names he gives but accepting a possibly dumb sounding one from his sister! Also (and I know this was probably unintentional-) he's set up to be a body dismorphia/disphoria story, feeling he's in the wrong one in all, and I thought that was interesting! I think all of them have amazing potential, and their stories could be really really good!

i agree with the comments linking starburst and transness, and honestly that was my first thought, but i actually relate to him a lot more on the disability front! i completely relate to having a passion, a dream, something you love and just KNOW you're supposed to be doing, that you cannot pursue because your body is not the way it "should" be. at least to do this specific thing. i was a circus performer until i was about 12 or 13, which was when i started showing more serious signs of my genetically inherited disability (ehlers-danlos syndrome). nowadays, i desperately want to perform again, but i know i can't just go back to doing what i did before, because i will destroy my already-deteriorating body. i also have a passion for clinical psychology and have wanted to become a therapist for about half my life now. but im currently dropping out of college after 2 years because of a combination of physical disability (EDS) and mental disabilities (autism and a learning disorder). on two fronts right now, i have to face the idea that i am (at least right now) physically incapable of doing the two things i think could really be my CALLING in life. i think starburst is in the same position with his lack of a horn. its a really difficult situation, and one a LOT of disabled people (kids included) go through. i think starburst's story could be a great thing for disabled kids and teens to see. no matter how you do it, as long as he gets some sort of happy ending that doesnt involve magically getting a horn, i think it would be comforting for disabled audiences.
Never even crossed my mind but I completely agree! I don’t have anything physical disability-wise, but I have quite a few mental disorders (namely autism, dyslexia and “specific learning disorder” (using “ bc I have no clue if that’s it’s proper name) that make my dream of being a fossil preparator (which needs a bachelor in a biology or geology science) feel almost like climbing Mt. Everest with only a t-shirt and shorts. Having a character in really any media with a similar struggle would be amazing, especially if they don’t just magically “cure” whatever the problem is. With that said, I really hope that you can find something EDS-friendly that you’re happy doing sometime Al ^^

No way. I started aerial arts when i was around 10 and was diagnosed with EDS at 13. I continued to push through until 17 because lyra was the absolute love of my life and the only thing i wanted to do forever. But it became too much for my body and at 18 i had to stop due to constant injury. Its left such a deep hole in me KNOWING that its what im supposed to be doing, and i had known before i even started, but now I can’t anymore because of my body. There was a surprise silk performance at a motorcycle show i went to and i cried. I loved performing more than anything. And to add insult to injury, the studio i trained and taught at for years is now competing internationally and i missed that opportunity by one year. I still live vicariously through the girls i taught who are now using routines i helped them put together in their competitions, but its so bittersweet. Anyway, sorry to dump but i dont think i’ve ever related to an internet comment more in my life and it hit me like a brick
@sadiejane610 wow! small world. i hear EDS is common amongst former circus kids for some reason. someone from my old troupe is now a physical therapist (i see her 3x a week) and she sees a lot of former circus kids from the troupe. one of her own daughters also has EDS. maybe we're just attracted to it because of our flexibility... which backfires when we start hurting ourselves. anyways, i was a contortionist mainly but i also did lyra and static trap--i really want to get back into trapeze, but with my body how it is rn, i cant
@ contortion was my second fave but i had to phase out of that early on and focus more on strength for the sake of longevity. I still spend a couple hours a day on flexibility training now that I’ve had to stop just because it makes me feel better about not being in the air anymore, but i cant do most of my favorites anymore. The owner of the studio and our main trainer had a son with EDS, so she understood and worked with me a lot which is probably the only reason i was able to go as long as i did. I have noticed a lot of us circus folk with eds tho! As time passes more and more of our original core troupe is diagnosed, i wish i had more to offer them than commiseration but at least we have a group that understands 😅
12:16 I love g5 but I 100% agree lol the only really appearance wise trait they had of being siblings was being Pegasi. You literally could pair ANY other character though and say they were siblings. Like Pipp and Izzy could pass, Hitch and Sunny. It’s kinda ironic.

I think personally i would’ve absolutely gone bonkers bananas if one of the characters was secretly a changeling or something, but it makes total sense why keeping the main characters ponies would match g4’s essence more. I think if I were to make a mane 6, it would probably look something more like a mix of the student six and some ponies (maybe a dragon, a kirin, and a changeling+ 3 more ponies or something similar?) just because i love the worldbuilding around the different species they added :>
if they set G6 in the FIM universe still, I wouldn't be mad as long as they put a bat pony in the main cast! it would be the perfect excuse to show the bat pony homelands!
I can totally see Trixie and Cherry Pie working at the diner as waitresses together, Trixie is there to begin getting money for her props while Cherry Pie is just supporting her family, and the owners would be very helpful to them as well!!

God they should’ve hired you for storyboard writing because I am hooked I wish this was the direction they went in! Especially considering the age of the MLP:FiM audience now I think that the key points in the storyline are so good
THIS is what i expected from g5, your designs and thoughts r like EXACTLY what we need from a new gen. I love all of these ponies sm. The only thing I’d say I didn’t like is the repetitive coat pattern on most of em, like it makes sense for Sol n Starburst but everyone havin it is a but much lol. But that’s subjective and regardless i still love all the designs !!!
I’d love to see this concept and story unfold as a series! Your designs are amazing. I think there is so much potential for this, maybe a smaller conflict with Cozy glow who doesn’t use magic and Starburst who can’t but wants to, I love it so much! I love Wysteria's design! I adore those colours together, and her bow is precious. Starburst and Sol have a little too similar of a coat colour to me? A thing with Gen5 for me is that several of the ponies blend together at a glance when they're all in a group, but Gen4 doewn't because their coat colours are all different. You can distignuish them at a glance even when they're pressed together in group art. All the other characters here are distinct at a glance except for those two. I get they're meant to be siblings, but they could look related and still be different from each other in a group.
Absolutely LOVE the designs and concepts, genuinely wish I could watch seasons of it 🤩👏 As for name suggestions, I'm thinking "My Little Pony: Finding Our Way". Where "Make Your Mark" sounds more like working to leave an impact, "Finding Our Way" is more a hopeful vibe of always getting up and looking for the path forward no matter what life throws at you, which feels fitting given the roadblocks this new Mane 6 would be working to get past.

I love these design so much, you did such a great job designing them! Visually, my favorite is Cherry Pie. You're completely right that those colors just look so pretty together. I also really like Wysteria's color scheme; it's so interesting and unique! During your last redesign where you made Cozy Glo, she was my favorite, although my one critique here is that her having only cool tones of indigo makes her feel a _little_ too cold to be "cozy". As you were designing her in the video I kept imagining you adding tiny yellow spots/speckles somewhere (such as on her coat, although I think tiny hair pieces/clips would work even better. There's also metal cuffs/rings that are put on braids and dreads) that would remind me of fairylights (or stars) and bring just that slight needed feeling of coziness to her design. I absolutely love that you've made Starburst an earthpony with an affinity for magic. I don't think his character writing would benefit by gaining a horn/magic later in the series, but I _do_ think it could be fun if he attained a magical artifact that enables him to "perform" some kind of magic. Either he attains it _after_ he's accepted he doesn't need to be able to do magic (so it's just a bonus), or it's used in the plot of a singular episode where he becomes obsessed with it and slowly continues to lock himself in his room; becoming completely reliant on it and going kinda crazy about it until his friends destroy it for his won good. Or Starburst himself destroys it when it turns evil and starts destroying things. he doesn't want to destroy it because he finally got a taste of performing magic, but eventually comes to terms that it needs to be done. It's through this episode that he finally accepts that he doesn't need to be able to perform magic to do the things he wants to do. Sol having small wings made me so happy that you kept that in her design. I think she could be an easy example of writing disabled ponies (which I think the only one we have gotten was Tempest from the MLP movie). In her case not being able to fly. And it wouldn't even be "difficult" to do since most ponies can't fly. The only thing to be concerned about is the character writing for her not being able to fly. I know her character has trepidations about being able to fly, so writers would just need to be careful about not going with the "woe is me" personality. I don't know if you intend for her character to one day be able to fly, but I hope she gets to stay earthbound since we have a lack of disabled ponies. I think it would be cool if one day in the show she gets to meet another pegasus (this one has part of their wing missing due to a childhood accident) who can't fly, and they're able to bond over this shared difference while Sol's new friend aids her in seeing that your life can be completely fulfilling despite not being able to fly. Maybe Sol can even have an episode (similar to Starburst's which I just described) where she has functional wings and eventually learns she doesn't need them to fulfill her life. In fact I think all 6 should get episodes (maybe two parters?) where they learn what they want in life/want to be/want to have/ isn't something they need (like with Trixie learning her dreams will take hard work). Kind of like how Shrek in the beginning of his movie wants peace and solitude, but by the end of his film learns that what he needed was friendship, companionship, and love (both platonic and romantic) Anyways sorry for the rant. I really love how creative you are with your art and it really inspires me. I hope my ideas and critiques inspire you! (and I apologize if they sound harsh at all)
i don't intend to give sol the ability to fly!! just like scootaloo in friendship is magic her wings will stay small, but she finds other ways to get around!! both of them are supposed to be allegories for different types of disabilities so i have no intention of altering either of them physically! they'll learn that there are other ways for them to do the things they love! :3

I really like these designs! I think a part two that gets into the dynamics between the new main six would be really interesting, especially since the different friendships you could have in a larger group was a was one of my favorite parts of Gen 4
HOLY CRAP THIS IS SO COOL! I really like the story arc. As a floundering young adult, it speaks to me. I adore all of these ponies and their personalities so much, and I love how much room they have to mature built in. They're just bursting with potential! I LOVE Sunburst and Trixie, so having them around with similar personalities is super cool. I definitely think my favorite story element is Sol still not knowing what she wants to do in life. She hasn't figured things out and hasn't discovered her destiny. She doesn't have a dream the way the other characters do, and that's okay. Finding out what she likes and growing into herself as a person and discovering her dream is her character arc. I think that creates a nice contrast with Starburst, who knows EXACTLY what he wants but just can't achieve it. I think it would be fun if Sol had a bit of a Gabby the Griffin thing going on where she's really competent at almost everything she tries, so it's hard to pin down what she's actually meant for, because it would create another layer of contrast with awkward, adorkable Starburst. I would say my favorite character design of the group is definitely cherry pie because that color contrast is GORGEOUS, and I love how you can just read her whole personality through her design. Fun and sweet, a little stubborn, but very much "in her lane." I think it might be nice if she got a little bit of a redesign as she gets out of her shell and follows her dreams a little more. Perhaps letting herself be a little less down to earth and a little more glamorous for the pop star vibes? And my favorite design element overall is how they all have slightly different body types. That was definitely my biggest pet peeve of gen 4. I get why they did it, and I don't begrudge them for it---it's much cheaper and quicker and easier to use the same base model for everyone. But GRACIOUS the contrast on your designs make me long for what could have been. My singular suggestion would be to add some light yellow into Cozy Glow's design, like in her hair streaks or something. It would make the Glow part feel more accurate I think. I have NO suggestion on the name so far. Best of luck to you, and here's hoping for a part two!

I LOVEDDDDDDD your version of gen 6 so much !! I love how well their designs convey their personalities and it rlly seems to have a lot of potential storytelling wise! As for name ideas I'm not rlly that creative lol but I think smth like MLP:Living is Life (Corny ik), I do have some suggestions for story aspects tho ! I think each pony could struggle with living up to their full potential, like each of them go through their own burn outs and have to figure their own way out of it, although that's more short term lol, thansk for listening !

I genuinely gasped when I heard who you envisioned as a protagonist. Having Trixie earn have her spotlight (in more ways than one) in the story sound super interesting! I'm also a big fan of having a character with personality like Cozy Glow - someone who's naturally more reclusive and low-energy, but not just because of being a scaredy cat like Fluttershy (no hate to her) honestly feels like a breath of fresh air
omg ur characters are so AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA i love them (trans coded starburst won my heart) specially love the fact that cherry pie is pretty much literally the mix of me and my best friend lol
First off I LOVE these designs, and the kind of dynamics some of them can have. A funny scenario could be Trixie is bragging to the mane 6 how she is the best magician and Starburst (love the name btw) starts bombarding her with questions like "can you do x y and z? Have you ever done this super complicated spell? How awesome is it having magic? DO YOU WANNA STUDY TOGETHER SOMETIME?" and trixie is just standing there like "Uhhhhh..." because I don't see her being all that studious about her magic, and Sol has to grab Starbursts tail and drag him away while he is still in that excited pose. (I hope that makes sense, I'm better when I have visuals)

MLP: DreamChasers. I had an idea for an MLPxRGB crossover called ' Halloween Spirits', in which Discord's old college roommate visits him. However, it's nightmare night, and that's when he's at his strongest, so the ponies have to get help from the real ghostbusters(as ponies) to save the day. discord's old roommate is the spirit of Halloween.

Cozie Glow being a unicorn that doesnt like to use magic and Starburst an earth pony who yearns for it is such a cool thing! I can already imagine a ‘body swap episode’ where at first, theyre both quite happy (Starburst being delighted) but they eventually get to the conclusion that they wamt to be themselves the most, even if for Starburst thst means missing magic (hes actually so trans coded)

They make for really good counterparts to each other and have so much built in conflict! I really like how Starburst vs Cozy Glow and Whysteria vs Cherrie pie gives a tension to the friend group right from the start. Trixie struggling after getting her cutie mark could also pair well with Sol not having one yet (cause some anxiety for her)
I think the "they prefer to be themselves" thing can be added onto a bit. I can see starburst missing memorizing spells and learning about them, while cozy glow enjoys having the extra help of her magic for art. another small idea, I think that this episode would make cozy glow wanna look a bit more friendly so that she can feel comfortable selling stuff without looking unapproach-able, since starburst looks pretty friendly. this could lead to her using magic (or having her friends help) to change up her look a bit, moving forward into her arc (ALSO YES TRANS STARBURST WORLD DOMINATION ALTHOUGH I DONT KNOW IF HE'D BE TRANSMASC OR UNKNOWINGLY TRANSFEM..)

I can ABSOLUTELY see Starburst coaching Trixie every time she uses magic wrong (or just coaching Trixie in general?!?). Every. Single. Time. Without fail, not even in a life-or-death situation where they're running for their lives. The only times it doesn't happen is when Starburst is away from Trixie when it happens.
Oh i think its funnier if Trixie is sometimes annoyed with constant remarks from Starburst but at the very moment she Actually needed an advice she doesnt have him around and/or didnt listen close enough to his yapping about the very thing shes encountering.
@@its_4amm The only one who actually listens to Starbursts rambling is Cherry Pie, but she's not actually paying attention, if you get what I mean. Like listening to a little kid ramble about their hyperfixation of the week (Cherry Pie's clearly had practise with that).

That's exactly what I was thinking! I like the idea of slow burn arc of subconscious resentment. It wouldn't take up the whole show but it would be an important part of their development. A culmination moment I picture is them trying to solve a problem and Starburst goes through his spell book for the perfect spell and starts trying to coach Cozy glow to do it. And she kinda flippantly brushes him off saying something like "or I could just grab •insert tool•" So he snaps at her.

The moment you said Cherry Pie and Wysteria were foils/rivals me and my friends(who watched this together) all collectively shouted "LESBIANS! ARE THEY IN LESBIANS WITH EACH OTHER??" and I think that's beautiful. I love Wysteria is gorgeous by the way, I love the soft green-purple color pallet.

Lil lore idea:What if the main 6 in this gen actually represents a stereotypical negative emotion like envy or arrogance and they have to find a way to figure out how to make those feelings positive if that make sense?for example,if the emotions they represent in envy instead of being envious of another pony they find a way to make it so that they can help set out goals to themself and what not.i think it’ll be really interesting for characters development!!

I haven't even finished the video, I'm at 8:46, and I'm just so happy that Starburst sounds like a trans allegory because Sunburst always reads like a he/they transmasc (I may have been projecting a bit...), but I also just like it because I think about this being an actual kid show, and I can't tell you how much I would appreciate a trans allegory like that that I could've related to as a kid. EDIT: I. Love. This. Also, i love the idea of a dragon pet for StarBurst, but i really would like the idea of Starburst cracking a magical code and making POTIONS....Idk i think thatd be SO cool

I feel like when people do "next gen designs" they always stray far from the original building blocks (like the main 6 being the colors of the rainbow, being some kind of archetype, ...) but this lineup did it perfectly- also I am a big Trixie fan so I ADORE her being the main character yss pleaseeee
I love how you recognized what made gen 4 so strong: color palettes, personalities, dreams, talents, etc. and made sure you included it! You also did a really good job of making sure none of them were replicas of gen 4 mane 6 like i think gen 5 did. I think gen 5 tried so hard to copy its success. Your version feels like another natural generation of g4.
This group has so much potential for chemistry/beef. Cherry trying to be a big sister to sol who doesn't need it, starburst being perpetually jealous of cozy glow and Trixie (and Trixie reveling in it), cherry pie and wysteria getting into arguments about working hard.
I just feel like Trixie doesn't really fit. I don't know if it's how you introduced her last, but I feel like having a main character who has no clue what she wants to do could be REALLY powerful. Her watching the rest accomplish their goals while she still has no clue what she wants to do. Maybe she's one of the oldest and still doesn't have her cutie mark so always wears a cloak to cover it. Her being an earth pony could also help because she can't focus on magic or flying. It could also be a good leeway to becoming the alicorn princess (I am a fan of the main character becoming an alicorn. sue me) I just feel like her sassy demeanor isn't really contrasted by anyone.

Like a little montage type thing with Starburst finishing a class and Sol coming in afterwards since they're a freshman in college then panning towards Wysteria and Cozy Glow working together (like Wysteria having commissioned Cozy's art for the grand opening of her business or something like that) then everyone shows up to either Cherry/Trixie's first super big performance!

I have a fun idea for Sol! I think you could make Sol a protective younger sibling by making them constantly defending and fighting people for Starburst! They think they have to defend Starburst because of his destiny being seemingly unobtainable. This could take the protective older sibling trope and turn it on its head. It could also give Sol something to relate to with Cherry where Cherry can bring her wisdom to the table to help Sol. You can also have Sol have a secret, guilty fear that they will end up having a cutie mark like Starburst’s that will be seemingly impossible to achieve (which can play into the whole who we make ourselves to be, not what we were told to be thing)

I've never been the biggest mlp fan ( I watched it in passing ) but this? THIS destroyed my art block. I love the story, the concept, and you can already feel the characters in a way.
i am sooo invested in how the dynamics between Starburst, Cozy Glow, and Trixie would turn out. Trixie being a unicorn who infamously flaunts her magic at every turn and Cozy Glow actively choosing NOT to use her magic - such two extremes that I KNOW Starburst would absolutely struggle with !!!
it would be so interesting to see how ideas of envy and even possible resentment towards friends could be tackled here

I love these designs!! I really like Starbust, and his story idea you had for him! Now I'm curious how he got his cutie mark, cause if he can't do the magic how'd he do it to get his mark? Did he correct a spell or something? A possible name for his familiar could be something funnily formal (Augustus Thaddeus III as a more human example) or maybe something his sister named and you can clearly tell? The second option could show how it doesn't really listen to him, refusing any of the names he gives but accepting a possibly dumb sounding one from his sister!
Also (and I know this was probably unintentional-) he's set up to be a body dismorphia/disphoria story, feeling he's in the wrong one in all, and I thought that was interesting! I think all of them have amazing potential, and their stories could be really really good!

i agree with the comments linking starburst and transness, and honestly that was my first thought, but i actually relate to him a lot more on the disability front! i completely relate to having a passion, a dream, something you love and just KNOW you're supposed to be doing, that you cannot pursue because your body is not the way it "should" be. at least to do this specific thing.
i was a circus performer until i was about 12 or 13, which was when i started showing more serious signs of my genetically inherited disability (ehlers-danlos syndrome). nowadays, i desperately want to perform again, but i know i can't just go back to doing what i did before, because i will destroy my already-deteriorating body.
i also have a passion for clinical psychology and have wanted to become a therapist for about half my life now. but im currently dropping out of college after 2 years because of a combination of physical disability (EDS) and mental disabilities (autism and a learning disorder).
on two fronts right now, i have to face the idea that i am (at least right now) physically incapable of doing the two things i think could really be my CALLING in life. i think starburst is in the same position with his lack of a horn. its a really difficult situation, and one a LOT of disabled people (kids included) go through. i think starburst's story could be a great thing for disabled kids and teens to see. no matter how you do it, as long as he gets some sort of happy ending that doesnt involve magically getting a horn, i think it would be comforting for disabled audiences.
Never even crossed my mind but I completely agree! I don’t have anything physical disability-wise, but I have quite a few mental disorders (namely autism, dyslexia and “specific learning disorder” (using “ bc I have no clue if that’s it’s proper name) that make my dream of being a fossil preparator (which needs a bachelor in a biology or geology science) feel almost like climbing Mt. Everest with only a t-shirt and shorts. Having a character in really any media with a similar struggle would be amazing, especially if they don’t just magically “cure” whatever the problem is.
With that said, I really hope that you can find something EDS-friendly that you’re happy doing sometime Al ^^

No way. I started aerial arts when i was around 10 and was diagnosed with EDS at 13. I continued to push through until 17 because lyra was the absolute love of my life and the only thing i wanted to do forever. But it became too much for my body and at 18 i had to stop due to constant injury. Its left such a deep hole in me KNOWING that its what im supposed to be doing, and i had known before i even started, but now I can’t anymore because of my body. There was a surprise silk performance at a motorcycle show i went to and i cried. I loved performing more than anything. And to add insult to injury, the studio i trained and taught at for years is now competing internationally and i missed that opportunity by one year. I still live vicariously through the girls i taught who are now using routines i helped them put together in their competitions, but its so bittersweet. Anyway, sorry to dump but i dont think i’ve ever related to an internet comment more in my life and it hit me like a brick
@sadiejane610 wow! small world. i hear EDS is common amongst former circus kids for some reason. someone from my old troupe is now a physical therapist (i see her 3x a week) and she sees a lot of former circus kids from the troupe. one of her own daughters also has EDS. maybe we're just attracted to it because of our flexibility... which backfires when we start hurting ourselves.
anyways, i was a contortionist mainly but i also did lyra and static trap--i really want to get back into trapeze, but with my body how it is rn, i cant
@ contortion was my second fave but i had to phase out of that early on and focus more on strength for the sake of longevity. I still spend a couple hours a day on flexibility training now that I’ve had to stop just because it makes me feel better about not being in the air anymore, but i cant do most of my favorites anymore. The owner of the studio and our main trainer had a son with EDS, so she understood and worked with me a lot which is probably the only reason i was able to go as long as i did. I have noticed a lot of us circus folk with eds tho! As time passes more and more of our original core troupe is diagnosed, i wish i had more to offer them than commiseration but at least we have a group that understands 😅
12:16 I love g5 but I 100% agree lol the only really appearance wise trait they had of being siblings was being Pegasi. You literally could pair ANY other character though and say they were siblings. Like Pipp and Izzy could pass, Hitch and Sunny. It’s kinda ironic.
Until I saw some of G5, I thought Sunny and Hitch were either siblings or "the couple" with how closely they were designed.

I think personally i would’ve absolutely gone bonkers bananas if one of the characters was secretly a changeling or something, but it makes total sense why keeping the main characters ponies would match g4’s essence more. I think if I were to make a mane 6, it would probably look something more like a mix of the student six and some ponies (maybe a dragon, a kirin, and a changeling+ 3 more ponies or something similar?) just because i love the worldbuilding around the different species they added :>
if they set G6 in the FIM universe still, I wouldn't be mad as long as they put a bat pony in the main cast! it would be the perfect excuse to show the bat pony homelands!
I can totally see Trixie and Cherry Pie working at the diner as waitresses together, Trixie is there to begin getting money for her props while Cherry Pie is just supporting her family, and the owners would be very helpful to them as well!!

I love Wysteria's design! I adore those colours together, and her bow is precious.
Starburst and Sol have a little too similar of a coat colour to me? A thing with Gen5 for me is that several of the ponies blend together at a glance when they're all in a group, but Gen4 doewn't because their coat colours are all different. You can distignuish them at a glance even when they're pressed together in group art. All the other characters here are distinct at a glance except for those two. I get they're meant to be siblings, but they could look related and still be different from each other in a group.

As for name suggestions, I'm thinking "My Little Pony: Finding Our Way". Where "Make Your Mark" sounds more like working to leave an impact, "Finding Our Way" is more a hopeful vibe of always getting up and looking for the path forward no matter what life throws at you, which feels fitting given the roadblocks this new Mane 6 would be working to get past.

Visually, my favorite is Cherry Pie. You're completely right that those colors just look so pretty together. I also really like Wysteria's color scheme; it's so interesting and unique!
During your last redesign where you made Cozy Glo, she was my favorite, although my one critique here is that her having only cool tones of indigo makes her feel a _little_ too cold to be "cozy". As you were designing her in the video I kept imagining you adding tiny yellow spots/speckles somewhere (such as on her coat, although I think tiny hair pieces/clips would work even better. There's also metal cuffs/rings that are put on braids and dreads) that would remind me of fairylights (or stars) and bring just that slight needed feeling of coziness to her design.
I absolutely love that you've made Starburst an earthpony with an affinity for magic. I don't think his character writing would benefit by gaining a horn/magic later in the series, but I _do_ think it could be fun if he attained a magical artifact that enables him to "perform" some kind of magic. Either he attains it _after_ he's accepted he doesn't need to be able to do magic (so it's just a bonus), or it's used in the plot of a singular episode where he becomes obsessed with it and slowly continues to lock himself in his room; becoming completely reliant on it and going kinda crazy about it until his friends destroy it for his won good. Or Starburst himself destroys it when it turns evil and starts destroying things. he doesn't want to destroy it because he finally got a taste of performing magic, but eventually comes to terms that it needs to be done. It's through this episode that he finally accepts that he doesn't need to be able to perform magic to do the things he wants to do.
Sol having small wings made me so happy that you kept that in her design. I think she could be an easy example of writing disabled ponies (which I think the only one we have gotten was Tempest from the MLP movie). In her case not being able to fly. And it wouldn't even be "difficult" to do since most ponies can't fly. The only thing to be concerned about is the character writing for her not being able to fly. I know her character has trepidations about being able to fly, so writers would just need to be careful about not going with the "woe is me" personality.
I don't know if you intend for her character to one day be able to fly, but I hope she gets to stay earthbound since we have a lack of disabled ponies.
I think it would be cool if one day in the show she gets to meet another pegasus (this one has part of their wing missing due to a childhood accident) who can't fly, and they're able to bond over this shared difference while Sol's new friend aids her in seeing that your life can be completely fulfilling despite not being able to fly.
Maybe Sol can even have an episode (similar to Starburst's which I just described) where she has functional wings and eventually learns she doesn't need them to fulfill her life. In fact I think all 6 should get episodes (maybe two parters?) where they learn what they want in life/want to be/want to have/ isn't something they need (like with Trixie learning her dreams will take hard work). Kind of like how Shrek in the beginning of his movie wants peace and solitude, but by the end of his film learns that what he needed was friendship, companionship, and love (both platonic and romantic)
Anyways sorry for the rant. I really love how creative you are with your art and it really inspires me. I hope my ideas and critiques inspire you! (and I apologize if they sound harsh at all)
i don't intend to give sol the ability to fly!! just like scootaloo in friendship is magic her wings will stay small, but she finds other ways to get around!! both of them are supposed to be allegories for different types of disabilities so i have no intention of altering either of them physically! they'll learn that there are other ways for them to do the things they love! :3

I really like the story arc. As a floundering young adult, it speaks to me. I adore all of these ponies and their personalities so much, and I love how much room they have to mature built in. They're just bursting with potential! I LOVE Sunburst and Trixie, so having them around with similar personalities is super cool.
I definitely think my favorite story element is Sol still not knowing what she wants to do in life. She hasn't figured things out and hasn't discovered her destiny. She doesn't have a dream the way the other characters do, and that's okay. Finding out what she likes and growing into herself as a person and discovering her dream is her character arc. I think that creates a nice contrast with Starburst, who knows EXACTLY what he wants but just can't achieve it. I think it would be fun if Sol had a bit of a Gabby the Griffin thing going on where she's really competent at almost everything she tries, so it's hard to pin down what she's actually meant for, because it would create another layer of contrast with awkward, adorkable Starburst.
I would say my favorite character design of the group is definitely cherry pie because that color contrast is GORGEOUS, and I love how you can just read her whole personality through her design. Fun and sweet, a little stubborn, but very much "in her lane." I think it might be nice if she got a little bit of a redesign as she gets out of her shell and follows her dreams a little more. Perhaps letting herself be a little less down to earth and a little more glamorous for the pop star vibes?
And my favorite design element overall is how they all have slightly different body types. That was definitely my biggest pet peeve of gen 4. I get why they did it, and I don't begrudge them for it---it's much cheaper and quicker and easier to use the same base model for everyone. But GRACIOUS the contrast on your designs make me long for what could have been.
My singular suggestion would be to add some light yellow into Cozy Glow's design, like in her hair streaks or something. It would make the Glow part feel more accurate I think.
I have NO suggestion on the name so far. Best of luck to you, and here's hoping for a part two!
Cherry Pie, Cozy Glow, and Trixie are def my fav!! (Starburst too tbh c:) I love the fact you put Trixie in here and I honestly wish this was a series because I'd to see these characters come to life in like a show or comic!

I LOVEDDDDDDD your version of gen 6 so much !! I love how well their designs convey their personalities and it rlly seems to have a lot of potential storytelling wise! As for name ideas I'm not rlly that creative lol but I think smth like MLP:Living is Life (Corny ik), I do have some suggestions for story aspects tho ! I think each pony could struggle with living up to their full potential, like each of them go through their own burn outs and have to figure their own way out of it, although that's more short term lol, thansk for listening !

I genuinely gasped when I heard who you envisioned as a protagonist. Having Trixie earn have her spotlight (in more ways than one) in the story sound super interesting! I'm also a big fan of having a character with personality like Cozy Glow - someone who's naturally more reclusive and low-energy, but not just because of being a scaredy cat like Fluttershy (no hate to her) honestly feels like a breath of fresh air

OMG THE MUSIC NOTE CHERRY CUTIE MARK IS ACTUALLY GENIUS
First off I LOVE these designs, and the kind of dynamics some of them can have. A funny scenario could be Trixie is bragging to the mane 6 how she is the best magician and Starburst (love the name btw) starts bombarding her with questions like "can you do x y and z? Have you ever done this super complicated spell? How awesome is it having magic? DO YOU WANNA STUDY TOGETHER SOMETIME?" and trixie is just standing there like "Uhhhhh..." because I don't see her being all that studious about her magic, and Sol has to grab Starbursts tail and drag him away while he is still in that excited pose.
(I hope that makes sense, I'm better when I have visuals)

MLP: DreamChasers. I had an idea for an MLPxRGB crossover called ' Halloween Spirits', in which Discord's old college roommate visits him. However, it's nightmare night, and that's when he's at his strongest, so the ponies have to get help from the real ghostbusters(as ponies) to save the day. discord's old roommate is the spirit of Halloween.
