Giant Sea Turtle Abalone Shell

I used Julie Cutts' giant sea turtle mold (#pouringyourheartout) and a 7" abalone shell that I purchased on Etsy - I had this idea in my mind for quite some time and finally found the right abalone shell. I used Greek Turquoise Pearl mica from #pigmently on the top of the head and flippers. I used some glass eyes and set them in place with UV resin (#letsresin). I also added a string of sewing machine LED lights to make this into a lamp. I think it turned out beautifully.

Awesome! Sooooo beautiful! ❤ I’m doing catchup and wished I’d seen this earlier. Can I be cheeky Tim and ask if the Abalone shell has to be sanded on the outside to get that beautiful colour? I’m totally in awe as the small ones I have don’t have that. It’s only on the inside. You are entitled to be proud! It’s a work of art! Never part with it. A fantastic heirloom! 😊
