I just got this same mold through Temu. When you applied the brown mica powder, why did you add the alcohol before brushing it on? Beautiful outcome. I hope mine comes out great too.
I'll need to go back and watch what I did. If I sprayed it on the brush, then it was to help keep it from flying off the brush due to static. Just the tiniest mist. If I sprayed the mold before brushing it on, then I'll need to go back and see. I'm on a road trip to the Pacific NW, but will watch it ASAP! Thank you for watching and for your question!

I just got this mold, how much epoxy did you use total to you recall?
Oh gosh, how exciting!! I love this mold... unfortunately, I did layers of resin so I don't recall exactly how much I used. I should have kept track for my records.. but didn't! Sorry. Let me know how your turtle turns out!
Put the mold on your scales, press tare, fill it with water. Now you know the exact volume of the mold.
I have a list of the volume of each of my molds at my craft table, therefore I never have leftover resin.
Beautiful turtle! I love the colors you picked for this guy. In this case, the green and the copper go together really well! I do notice that the white sand and the shells are not very visible on him though. I think if the green were a little less prominent, the details on the bottom would've been more obvious. Or just if you had coated the shell with green, then clear-filled the inside. Then again, clear filling doesn't give you that cool fade at the edges of the shell...
Either way, what you do see has turned out great! And I like the idea of checking out the train department for extra crafting supplies. I've been getting molds from baking and chocolate, creating air-dry clay inserts I can paint and I have a bunch of oddly-shaped beads that never seemed right for any jewelry projects, but are absolutely beautiful and would look awesome in resin projects! So I look for inclusions everywhere. Thank you!

Beautiful. Can't see the shells, but it looks great. Next time make one where you can look through the shell and see the bottom of the ocean. I bought the mold.
