    Lower revs at highway speeds on vehicles with a 4AT and a larger 2.4L engine are common. It has to do with the wide gearing of the 4 speeds. While that helps to lower revs on the highway, it also hurts acceleration whenever it shifts gears because it will often knock the engine out of the meat of its power band with every shift

    Bought my sx rio last 2 years and its been a great vehicle, fuel economy is great if u keep up with the little maintenance. Mine came with the full package any everything works perfectly till now. I think we should buy vehicles based on our needs and not expect to get a luxury feel in a fuel efficiency vehicle.
    If you want a luxury feel, then go to the luxury category of that brand.

    As a honda fit owner (2010) I am actually quite impressed by this car. There are many features for a subcompact car that aren't available on the Honda. I really like the design and overall this looks like a strong competitor in the segment.

    I have a 2013 Kia Rio LX Sport and I'm not saying it's the best car in the world every car has it's pros and cons but I really have to say that my Kia Rio is pretty awesome. How can you not like a car with economy eco, 138 hp that can sweep you off your feet with a dope sport mode for choice and a 6 cylinder, heated rearview mirrors, affordable, and very roomy car with a sporty and slick design. It has it's cons but overall Kia really stepped up these past few years and it's getting even better. In these days of time you want dare find any car with all this for it's price.

    I drove a used one. I LOVED it! It was a stick shift. I handled the clutch perfectly from the beginning. It rode great, handled well. I will be getting one for my next car.

    I have a 2015 lx. It doesn't have alot of bells and whistles, but I like it. On its best day I got about 45 mpg on the highway. People these days act spoiled. Many make this car seem worse than it is, but it's a good car. I'm 6'1 and have taken road trips in it. I do want to do things to it that'll make it less "appliance-like". If you want to do the same, evilla motorsports has some stuff for you.

    I thought this handled great. The steering was very communicative and quick. The headrest does move forward and back, just not as much as I would like. Some new cars are worse. This kind of car, you go basic. It is better to stick with the base. It is HALF that cost of the SX. I can get a basic Forester for just over 20 grand.

    I prefer this car in LX+ guise with the 6- speed manual. It is more peppy, responsive, much more fun to drive...not to mention you'll get much better value for your car. I really wonder whether this guy knows how to drive a manual transmission equipped car at all! He's only 5'7" and complaining about the leg and head room of this subcompact car which in my opinion very good compared to any car in its class. I bought one and after test driving others in its class... this is the best one for me as FUN and economical runabout second car. The sixth gear overdrive that keeps the revs lower at long stretch of hiways at 70-80miles/hour and can do it so easily for hours is really amazing for a subcompact car! Handling, engine smoothness and responsiveness are comparable above its class. Mine has the heated seats, air, power windows, USB connectivity, cruise control, etc. I really enjoy driving this car that I hardly drive my SUV anymore especially that winter is almost over. This one feels as much as powerful as my previous 155hp Suzuki Aero! Enjoying much and very happy with the Rio.

    I just got the weekly ad version and this thing reminds me of my 89 CRX but larger! Honestly these type of cars should never have leather seats. The added weight is just not what the car was built for or any subcompact. The same goes for chrome rims. I do wish I had the push button start but that is a dash replacement. Lastly I just can't remember the time a subcompact had usable power and was fun around the corners.

    A BIG TY 4 this review! Helped a lot. hondaaftw1234 is right. A fully loaded SX is almost the same price as a 2013 Honda Accord LX and a Rio EX around $18k is about same price as a Civic LX...I think the only trim worth buying would be the Rio LX but has no backup cam but a Rio LX does come standard with bluetooth and satellite radio and that LONG warranty! :)

    Couple things I noticed. It's kinda funny that kia omitted the paddles from being functional in the drive position because on my old forte, the paddles were functional in drive. Also as far as no spare tire, even my 328i doesn't include a spare since companies are trying to reduce weight for fuel economy. Tho I suppose since my car has run flats, it's not as big a deal

    With the experience I have with Kia/Hyundai, I feel like they give a harsh, rather choppy ride, and not that much in the way of handling. As is the case with my aunt's 2007 Kia Sportage. It rides extremely rough, but doesn't handle well. The engine sounds fantastic but is slow as hell, and the 4AT is awful. I'm glad to see Kia going more upmarket with their cars and refining them so much.

    heres where for me function>design. those low profile tires. stylish? yes. yet these cars are designed for the city. in fact, about 60-70 precent of these cars commute/ live in/ hang out around urban areas. parking, curbs, potholes, and rough road construction will definately not make those rims look very good in 50k miles. and when you hit a pothole and get a flat with no spare you are screwed. if i really needed a car this small id get a fit. other then that give me a civic or focus.

How about instead of offering stupid gimmick features like that and push button start Kia should give us necessities other manufacturers would never dream of excluding (like a spare tire)

    The high price and hard, flat seat were complete deal breakers for me. People buy subcompacts for a low price and the best possible fuel economy. This car provides neither. As boring of a car as the Versa is, I think Nissan is currently the only company that gets what a subcompact should truly deliver. Top-notch fuel economy and a low price. It's also one of the most comfortable and roomiest subcompacts around. So don't be so quick to knock it.

    • @electrictroy2010
      @electrictroy2010 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Base price for the Rio is only 14,000 if you want to save money
      .

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tigerfanman, I much preferred the look and better warranty of the Rio over the Nissan Versa, BUT I hated the hubcaps. To step up to alloy wheels, I would have had to spend $4,000 more than the Versa. I have better ways of spending that money and still ended up with a decent car.

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      tillallareoneluv Just curious, in what ways did you find the Versa exceeded your expectations? I know what you mean about not having to think to drive the car. It's very easy to drive. Light, responsive steering. Excellent brake pedal feel with smooth modulation. Now if they'd just do something about the road and wind noise it'd be damn near perfect for a subcompact.

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      tillallareoneluv I've taken my Versa on 3 separate trips down to FL. I've got a bad back, so a comfortable seat is extremely important to me. On those 3 separate trips my back never cramped up or got sore, nor did my ass go numb. So very comfortable for a little car. Road/wind noise are just too loud at interstate speeds. I have to crank up the stereo and then all the noise gives me a headache and I end up turning the stereo off. It seems to be a good car overall, but there is a lot of room for improvement. I could go on about the pros and cons with the car.

    It sits too low. Difficult getting in and out. Decent power.
