Very nice! Good to see the market differences. In Europe, 95% of the Rio's have manual gearboxes. They were not sold as EX and SX, but as Base, Comfort Pack, Plus Pack and Super Plus Pack. The SX seems like the Super Plus Pack, with start button, climate control instead of a/c, alloy wheels etc.
It is sad I can confirm manual gearbox is already extinct in Malaysia. I think there's only 1 model from each Proton and Perodua (local brands) has the manual gearbox variant. Foreign imports do not want to bring them into market except for Toyota GR models which are not for average consumers. I know for certain European market like the UK, manual gearboxes is a must.
Very good review. thank you for the video. I really like the camera view in the middle with a realistic drive with a mix of town and motorway (highway) driving. Nice to hear the automatic gear changes with heavy acceleration and normal driving. What rev's was the engine doing at highway speeds and what was the highway speed ? I am looking into possibly buying one here in the U.K. Thanks again.
really full features version for malaysian market. here in indonesia we just have a single airbag with alot reduced features version, even doesn't have those integrated HU and LED light.
very good video thanks for your good explanations i have the same model with manual gear box 6 very good car i bought it as second hand at 30 000 km still brand new i very happy with the only weak point is fuel comsumption which is quiet high i dont have eco system option by the way can you make another sort video about this option need to see it how it operates thanks man
Amazing test! Like it very much. Please tell me if you remember, the engine revs at highway speed (120-130 km/h - I don't know what is the limit in your country). Thanks a lot!
what is the long term reliability say after 8 years and 100,000 kilometers and mechanical problems, I'm looking at buying a used Kia rio 1.4 liter 3 door hatch 6 speed manual now in 2022 and it has 87,000 kilometers
Bright Ivan The car gets shuffled around between the main dealers and the HQ quite a lot I think depending on who needs it. I collected it from the HQ.
looks like the company of kia had done the intensive training and make a good job ! I believe after 20 years, the kia motor will overtake many other motor. But currently , the kia motor still have many things need to improve it ~
Yep, me too, the rims that is. But he has a problem with avoiding (pedestrian) curbs by the looks of it, because they are pretty banged up. Not to mention that his fuel consumption is 14L/100km, which is almost impossible UNLESS you push the engine and RPM to it's utter limits all day long. Fuel consumption should be somewhere around 6-7L/100km (combi highways/city roads) when driven normally.

Great informative video, this may be a stupid question (and you may of covered this but I missed it) but could you tell me what the tiny black button is near the gear stick/lever encasing....I'm looking at buying a used model of this year and this bit is cracked and broken, I initially thought perhaps they had modified or added something but it looks like several models have it? thanks again for posting such a great video it has helped a lot :)
Thanks for watching! If my memory serves me right, that would be the gear lever unlock switch in the event of the car not being able to start and you need to get the car into drive or neutral to move the car.
kereta ni if kunci hilang macam mana nak start.. kalau kunci spare ada tapi tak boleh nak start jugak? mana tempat ignition switch dia if emergency case
If you're watching it on a mobile device, then because of TH-cam's copyright issues thing, the video is not playable on mobile. You'll have to watch it on your computer, where it works fine.
Bought a Kia Rio Aug 5 last year, car drives well but the automobile fuel efficiency is completely out of reach -- through research i found out that the official rating for fuel consumption is carried out in Korea and most supposely in close door in some manufacturing complex with gradually no real estimate, very disappointed. Overall, car runs well and service is made every 8,000 kms or any 4 months whichever comes first. But if you considering a Rio and at the same time wanting a fuel efficient car, please don't buy a Kia! This car consumes on avg 8.5l / l00kms on Canadian streets which is above other brands in my experience compared to more fuel efficiency Dodge Journey and Honda Accord.
So the typical asian driver stereotype still holds some water :D LoL-hand position on wheel hehe And use of gas pedal and gearbox must be close to the opposite of what it was made to .. to make consumption go to 14 average ... thats about what u should get driving flatout on autobahn at 200km/h not those rolling speeds Other than that, nice review, keep em comming
Review dekat google ramai kata macam tu la, 13-11kmh/litre. Kalau kata 14 ke 15kmh/litre ok la, tapi itu la ramai kata kuat makan minyak. Kalau banyak duit rasanya minyak tu tak jadi isu dah😅
It design for city driving, i prefer automatic just for relaxing my foot and hand while driving. Manual is best but not in city while in traffic jammed

This place looks familiar.... Oh btw I get to test drove this once, and it's kinda awesome. Smooth and quiet ride.
I filmed the exterior at Subang Lake behind SDMC.
alexlovesmac Oh... No wonder haha.,
alexlovesmac by the way, do you collect the car from Kia's Red Cube center at PJ? I think I test drove the exact same car when it first came out. LOL.

Liked it, but would've liked to see the whole car from the sides and rear. I only saw the front view.
wat a good thing if they bring the Sedan type to Malaysia . I bet it will be the best small sedan with those safety features and space

this fuel saving or not?

hows the acceleration really? like to 60kmh? is it OK at least?
It is decent, but not the best. To 60 is fine, but I feel that it is slightly underpowered if you need to build up speed quickly.
thanks! i'm looking at buying one actually, but it's the 1.4 4 speed auto one too.
It's a great car for driving around the city, so if you plan on doing that mostly, the Rio's a good choice for you!

we in europe get only the 1,4ltr. with 4 speed autom.
