  • Wltoys K989 1/28 Rc Drift Project Ep3:
    7 Ways How To Lock Rc Diff For Drifting Or Slipping Differential Problems and by locking the rear differential the Rc car drifts ten times
    The 7 ways How To Lock Rc Diff using household products for locking rear differential and Rebuild for a consistent level of torque going to each wheel
    Slipping differential problems can be fixed too by a diff lock
    Rock crawler and Rc drift cars use it the get better traction and a more consistent driving car without shifting the torque from wheel to wheel constantly making the car lose grip and spin out most of the time
    Locking your diff is a necessary upgrade you need for drifting and there are 5 ways to stop your differential spider gears from turning
    Starting with the easiest method number one is using art clay and stuff it in between the gears until the diff is full it's not a permanent solution
    The second method is using hot glue to block the gears from turning both ways work but not 100% perfect there is still a little bit of play inside the diff
    The third and best way is using epoxy to lock the diff forever with plastic gears if your Rc diff has metal gears you might like to try JB.WELD ore two-component metal epoxy
    The four method is using body clips to stuff in between the spider gears teeth until they stop moving around that can be a bit tricky
    The fifth way is the official way by using a diff locker that replaces your gears with a solid piece of U-metal that makes your Rc diff lock up or if your lazy you buy a solid lock diff

    Locked the diff on my Mini-Q. HUGE difference in drift.
    that and a front one-way are totally game changers, and locking the back diff is easy, as seen here.
    Excellent vid.

    Another great tutorial and tip. It's great that you offer many solutions for this MOD. I really like the Art Clay method as it's not permanent, so if you wish to undo the MOD you can. The Art Clay is also easy to find. Keep up the great work and Happy Driving!

      Apriciate the comment thanks Ground Control RC
      Art is also very cheap and a lot of people like to use that method because it's not permanent but your going to destroy the gears teeth anyways so bash it untill it slips and than lockt it and buy a new one for racing or just normal driving but i like how my cars drive with lock diffs
      Maybe that's why i choose epoxy hahaha

    • @_sqrrl3299
      @_sqrrl3299 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tonys Rc Tech no! But it makes both weels spinning at the same time, even if one has no contact to the ground.
      A differtial let’s one wheel spin at a different speed: if you do a right hand turn, the left wheel needs to spin faster, because it has to go a longer way than the right wheel in the same time.
      If the diff is locked, both wheels can only spin with the same speed wich results that one wheel is always sliding a little when doing a turn.
      But that means, that if one wheel has mo contact to the ground , the motor will only power the one in the air and you can’t go forward. That’s where the locked diff helps: it makes both wheels spin, even if one is lifted up and has no contact to the ground.
      Conlusion:
      if you drive normal with a lot of turns, you should keep the diff!
      If you do off-roading and especially rock crawling you should lock the diff!
      I hope this helped you! Greetings from germany and sry for my bad english 😊!

      No. You want front traction and for the tires to spin at different rates for getting you through corners. The rear diff should be locked so any rear wheel spin will always be both rear tires reliably.

    what's the benefit to block the differential?

    • @HowToDIYRc
      @HowToDIYRc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      several benefits for drifting and driving offroad and crawling
      with drifting you want both wheels to spin the same way everytime
      offroad you have more grip if one wheel losses grip than the same amount of torque go's the wheel with grip giving a chance to drive out the hole
      crawling you have a lot of trouble to keep all 4 wheels on the ground and the wheel that is hanging in the air get's all the torque and to fix that problem you lock the diff
