Mesmerizing and an easy 10/10. Your enterpretation of this 'back to back' was insanely awesome Mathias. Thank you yet again for bringing us these quality videos. And great job on the Scenes from New York intro, takes me back to the dvd that started it all for me.
The best way to EQ toms is to make them sound good with tuning first, that way you don't have to do as much work later :) As with any recording process; garbage in, garbage out. Gold in, gold out.
Holy cow this cover is great! These are some of the tracks that got me so much into drumming, such a pity mum and dad ended up buying me a guitar instead lol Greetings from Chile, keep it up! ;D
How much do you use the live video of Portnoy for learning these covers as opposed to just figuring out stickings by ear and feel? Also do you just have the studio version in your ears or do you have click or something else mixed in? Amazing work, as always, thank you!!
I learned this songs all by ear. For Haken's Nil by Mouth I watched some of the live footage to get out the stickings. But the DT stuff is much easier. I have the studio version on my ears without click or something.
Fucking KILLED IT!!!! What a musical Journey… wow. Thank you!
And to top it off the cymbals and the drums sounds absolutely amazing !

Fantastic playing Mathias. Your drum sound is great too!
Mathias ! that is absolutely amazing!!!! keep on doing !!!! really respect !
would love to know how you EQ'd your toms. love the tom sound you got!
actually there is not so much post production on the toms. A little EQ to take out the mids and push the highs and a little compression.
