    No wet palet, no thinning the paint, no excuses and no remorse. Congrats, looks ace man!

    Brilliant. I use spackle all the time on mini bases. Hadn't thought about it on my stucco buildings.

    Superb work! "Spackle"! Hilarious! It is called "filler" here in the UK!

      Australia has filler too 👍 Spackle ? 🤣
      This is a really good video 👍

      I think it comes from the German “Spachtel” meaning spatula, the thing you use to smooth it into cracks in the wall.

    Those are really cool! Loving the texture on there. I’ve been pretty put off my MDF terrain and this is going to make me take a second look. Thanks!

    I've been doing the spackle trick on both MDF and 3d printed terrain, but hadn't seen sand or weathering powder in action. Very nice!

    Cool video, I'm currently building some terrain, since I've just gotten into Bolt Action. This is some great inspiration! :)

    I can't really use the spackle/sand for 15mm but I can use your technique for the roof. Looks great!

    • @tabletopcp

      It would probably work ok just water the spackel down a bit more and use fine grain sand

  • @TheEccentricMan
    @TheEccentricMan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work Travis, similar to how I did mine, but I prefer how you did the spackle and the sand. I put on a much heavier layer of spackle, yours is definitely a quicker way.

    This looks really good! I've never really known what to do to make MDF look good, this process works great for that style.
    Have you ever tried oil paint washes? It'll be way cheaper than agrax & has some great flowing & drying properties

    I saw most of these buildings in your Battle of Cielo Monteca and immediately fell in lust with them. I've put in a letter to Santa in hopes of seeing some of it under my Christmas tree. Did you order from the UK or do you have a US source? BTW, lovely to see another (but much more creative) 'lefty' at work. Your videos and games are a true joy and inspiration! Thanks!

    can i ask what do u use to cut mdf? im wanting to start creating my own little cottages but can a Stanley knife cut through 3mm mdf?

    • @tabletopcp
      @tabletopcp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont cut it myself. The kits come pre cut. It would take some work to cut yourself. I think they use lasers.

    • @tabletopcp

      Not really. Some of them come with interiors. But most don’t I just leave them empty for functionality

    Looks like the scale is 28mm which appears to be too small for me! I’m in 1:72 scale or about 20mm!

    • @tabletopcp
      @tabletopcp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they are 28mm. 20mm is very cool. Gives you much more space

    • @sirrathersplendid4825
      @sirrathersplendid4825 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many companies have a 20mm MDF range (Sarissa, for example) but I find they’re often grossly underscale and look better alongside 15mm figures. Am currently putting together some 28mm MDF Mediterranean buildings for my 20mm Italian Wars and Napoleonic armies - will be interesting to see how that looks!
