  • I've been wanting to cover this for a while. The Auspice are so varied with their powers and abilities it's hard to talk about them in a definitive sense so I tried to get close to what I believed is universal among them. But I'm glad this is done and I was able to get this out to you all! Enjoy!

    I really appreciate the subtle nod to Seto there at the very end. Seto was definitely a highlight of SHB especially as things were wrapping up, and the way it used the Auspice lore to show how things were similar yet different across the reflections was super interesting to me.

    Greetings professor. I'm in need of assistance. I've been through some stuff, but long story short, I've made a pact with a voidsent who's now whispering sweet nothings inside my head every now and then. I need to know... What it means to be a Reaper?

    I actually first learned about the auspices from the most recent Christmas event; at the time, I was still very much a Sprout and had barely just started ARR. It’s nice how they integrated the lore of expansion packs into events that are accessible to everyone old and new.

    It's a common real life Eastern cultural philosophy toward meditation and energy, in this case cultivation. In Chinese cultivation mythology, most living being have potential of cultivation including the lowest of the animal kingdom. Once they have reached a certain awareness and enlightenment their inner power manifest. Which is aether here in FFXIV

    Many well known mythical creatures of our real world's lore could have (or are stated to have) come into being the same way, living past a normal lifespan and gaining power... And unfortunately, becoming monsters in some cases...

      Imagine a lobster living for couple millennia, keep getting older, a rare genetic mutation allow it to continuously expand and strengthen its shell.
      If one day such creature arose from the deepest sea trench, human from time before modern science might even acknowledge such being as god.

    I don’t know if you have a set order to job videos but I think the ones many people (including myself) are waiting on are Sage and Reaper. The job quests give a fair amount of their lore but I’ve come across a few extra nuggets from side quests as well.

    • @SynodicScribe
      @SynodicScribe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been doing polls in my community tab as to what needs covering next. I can't do a Deep Dive on Gunbreaker, Dancer, Reaper or Sage yet because I use publications and game data for those videos. If I talk about the new jobs right now I'd basically just be parroting the Job Quest.

    given how little we know about the nature of the two relevant forces aside from the fact that theyre based on emotion, ive seen speculation about a potential connection between them and dynamis. given the obvious effect it has and that those forces themselves are iirc never directly attributed to aether i dont think its an unreasonable thing to speculate. i wouldn't go so far as to say their powers are dynamis based, but the idea that their forms, powers, and in some part behaviours, are shaped or influenced by dynamis, the same way limit breaks are speculated to be using dynamis to help shape the aether around you into a useful effect

    I wonder why the auspice only seem appear in the Far East. Anyways thank you so much for the lecture professor I always found the auspice to be one of the most fascinating and strange beings to ever exist on or star. For the next lecture could you talk about the goblins? I’ve heard rummers that they possess a lust for knowledge said to rival sharlyan it’s self, but I always thought they were humble traders

    I find it interesting that a Tenzen existed in XIV and followed almost the same path of his life as his XI counterpart. Iroha is the daughter of Tenzen in XI and is imbued with the Celestial Avatar of Phoenix that gives her her red hair. Even funnier is that Iroha follows the same story as Graha Tia.

    i wonder if auspic's awakenings are some form of echo developing in animals due to the rejoinings that have happened, an awakening that happens more acutely in animals due to them being more in tune with the world around them than the races of man

I think i've seen, ther squirrel from the starlight quests, but i believe he said he was visiting eorzea from the ruby sea, Is it a phenomna isolated to the eastern regions,? I sapose you could argue that rudy the little yeti from starlight, and the baby troll from endwalker sidequests, might be auspices?

    Isn't Shaggles similar to a young auspice? He's incredibly smart compared to other trolls even if his lifespan still looks normal (He's a baby troll, so cute) and he can communicate fully formed thoughts to us via our Echo. He's even starting to learn how to properly speak. He's smart enough to read books in a language that he had to learn alone from scratch and since they're Sharlayan books, I'm pretty sure they're super convoluted and full of obscure and specific words. He is even able to perfectly reason in a scientific way, he is clearly a true scholar. Which is... Very odd for a troll? No shade to the other trolls but they don't seem like scientists at heart. And he's still very young, that's a real prodigy here. If he indeed is an auspice and not just a case of "abnormally enormous-brained troll" I can't even imagine how powerful he could grow.
