Hey friends! I have launched a Kickstarter campaign for my new full-length solo album. Trying to get 500 backers! Please check it out here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/maxcarlisle/max-carlisle-titanium-reign
Man I would surely love to have a guitar like that, because all the other guitars that I have bought are crap I had spent a hell of a lot of money on them with fender and guitar center and still have the same dam problems with the guitars to me they con you to buy a guitar and sell you a insurance to cover the cost to repair it or replace it and still the same old crap. Don’t know if they want you to buy a very expensive one just to discourage you and spend more money. Now I’m broke! So beware of all of con’s out there.
I litterally have this guitar at home I bought 3 weeks ago it is already one of my favorites I saw one of ur videos on aio guitars the les paul body and bought that beauty on reverb left handed too
I haven’t been on your channel for a while I haven’t been feeling very well. However, I bought the same guitar that you bought that was on the cover of your introduction page. The Wolf WLP red flame burst with gold everything and the seashell and lays on the neck and the double binding and the wolf with the cactus on the head stock and even the name wolf was put in that seashell motif. I told him the way I wanted it specked out and they sent it to me exactly the way I wanted it. One of the best damn purchases I’ve ever made. I believe it was $550 and it came with a gator case. It is one gorgeous looking and gorgeous sounding guitar this thing can tear a hole through space time as it were. I am so glad that I caught that video that you made about the first wolf that you bought which was just plain red and then the flame top and I just love that flame top look. That flame top work is absolutely gorgeous. And because I didn’t know any better on how to adjust or fix anything I accidentally not knowing turned the truss rod and I ended up blowing the neck and it took me a while to figure out looking on TH-cam and what not and I found the answers. Now I know A Hell of a lot more on how to tweak a guitar and the various things that come with maintaining a guitar I have an original 1966 fender Jaguar that somebody did some work on and the only way you know it’s Jaguars by the body shape they even scratched off the word jaguar on the head stock for some damn reason. Then me and another guitarist who love the guitar and I bought a pyramid hard case to put it in so I bought it from him he bought it back for me and so on and so forth luckily I was the one with it last because my friend died a couple years ago and if he had a guitar I would’ve never got it back because he’s up in the Northeast and I’m down in the south east and I didn’t even know he had passed away until a friend of mine a bass player that we were in a band with years before told me about. So the guitar is safe and safe and sound in my hands and I went from having two guitars to having about somewhere between nine and 11 different guitars now the one I’m missing is a fender telecaster and if you have any leftover telecasters hanging around I would love if you would offer me a price on it and we can have the same negotiation as to how much and the only people that we could sell it to would be back-and-forth between you and I just like my friend who passed away. We can have a contract wrote up whatever you want and in this case with my late friend but it was $100 back-and-forth for years. So if you’re interested in anything like that let me know and one other thing I desperately need a gate pedal I bought Annalisa’s drum set nitro mesh kit with some extras on it with all the guitars and the equipment that I bought and got my production studio almost completely up and running I need a Gate pedal in the worst way so if you have one laying around but you just don’t even use anymore let me know how much you want for it I just don’t wanna pay a gigantic price I used all ass load of money just to get what I have now and I’m still not up and running completely. So think about it all right brother, I appreciate it have a good one and hit me back when you come up with something, thanks and I appreciate it.
Please do that video on AIO shop Max, that would be cool for sure man! 43mm nut width in case anybody wanted to know. Man, Ive never owned a semi hollow body and this could be it because of the neck specs. Round slim D neck shape, neck wood mahogany, bone nut, F yeah bring it.. I'm a Jackson/Ibanez type neck guy and this sound good on a semi hollow. Love all the specs, and you know the attention to detail is gonna be better than a Epi or equal BIG brand company. Thanks for the review max, take care!
First and foremost, gotta love the color!!! (Follow-Up not just on the front but also the back and hardware.) Thanks to AIO guitars for the loan of this guitar for this video and to you for making it. I learned to play guitar (1962) on a 3rd-Hand Hand-Me-Down Harmony Arch-Top acoustic with no strings or bridge when I got it, so I had to learn how to make it play and then easier to play all on my own (very rural area, the nearest music store was 40 miles away, and was not what you'd call a full service music store.). That was the qualifier as to probably the reason why I am pretty sure I have never owned a semi-hollow body electric. After this video and hearing the very impressive cleans on this guitar, I think it's time I re-think that whole semi-hollow body phobia thing (caused by the old Harmony Arch-Top). Another great demo, review, and video Max. Please keep them coming!!!
I bought an AIO/WOLF LP750T in Purple Burst with a hard case this year for $700 and it played awesome right out of the box! The action is low and was perfectly intonated. The pickups are amazing as well! No defects in the finish and the fret ends are polished smooth. Sounds better than my Epiphone LP.
Recommend the Harley Benton options for an affordable 335 clone. Unbeatable at their asking price. The Harley Benton models have split coil pickups which adds even more versatility, but do be prepared to spend a bit on a proper setup and perhaps fret filing, of course I've found $600 335 copies that also required this maintenance right away.... What I love about these style of guitars is that you can play open chord rhythm on them with a bit of overdrive on the amp and get a great tone to sing over, Brian Adams Summer of 69' a great example of this. It's the songwriters electric guitar!
My experience with Harley Benton was frets were unfinished, sharp fret ends, not set up at all, and customer service was a joke. Night and day difference between HB and AIO.
Sweetwater is currently selling, for $749, their D'Angelico Premier DC XT that has USA Seymour Duncan filter-trons. Personally, I prefer the size of the mini DC. I bought the Premier version of it and it has been perfect in every way. Excellent frets, setup, and build. They're not made in China, but in Indonesia, where lots of excellent guitars are coming out.
One guitar that I miss so dearly but I had years and years ago when I was a teenager I’m 56 years old now but it was my BC Rich black warlock. Not only looked heavy metal it played heavy metal and the bass player I was playing with at the time he went out and bought a BC Rich warlock bass so it just looked awesome between him with his warlock bass mammoth with my warlock six string electric and it just looks really cool. Another guitar I love is my Gibson Les Paul Junior. It’s got a distressed union jack flag and I bought a union jack strap for it didn’t pay much for the guitar but it does need a little bit of a touchup on it and I’ve got some other ones in our 1950s era excelsior but the pick ups are totally trashed whoever owned it before me painted over the cherry herb road runner red gloss and spray paint it flat black I don’t know why anybody would do that but they did my form of bass players that I have no idea if he’s living or dead he sent that to me for free he had like 3040 guitars so that was gonna take a little bit more work specially because of the pick ups the sizes just weird looking angles to it of course like I said the body I just need to figure a way to get that flat black paint job if you wanna call it that, off without destroying the cherry or a road runner red gloss underneath it which I don’t know if that’s even possible but if you know anything about things like that to drop me a line let me know I’d really appreciate it and hopefully sometime next year I’m hoping to get my own TH-cam channel hooked up and start mixing and producing for other bands or individuals at some point late next year but let me know what you think about all that And I appreciate it. Thanks brother, peace..
I have a Jay Turser 335 copy that's immensely killer. I walked into Mike's guitar shop in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin about 15 years ago to buy some picks, and walked out with this. It's red, and it was just hanging there, and I asked to hear it through a Fender tube amp and it was just the best tone. Fantastic neck and frets and the intonation is perfect. And it came with a hardshell Washburn case for $250 total. Still have it, and it's still the favorite axe I own.
it's been many years since I owned a semi hollow body guitar I had a beautiful blue Ibanez arcore (very nice somewhat inexpensive quality guitar) stolen from my home while I was at a funeral , funny thing was my playing improved in leaps and bounds when I had one cause I couldn't seem to set it down for very long I think plus I loved the tones I got both plugged in and unplugged this video makes me want to go pick up another one
Hi from Spain You are very fortunate in the US to have guitars like this available at prices that are so low. I really enjoyed your review and playing, kind regards,John.
That's a beautiful guitar Max, there's only one thing I'm not keen on and that's the oversized f holes. Apart from that I think it's great and fabulous value. Thanks for posting.
I love your idea of doing a tour of the guitar factory ! I think that would be a great video, plus great exposure for the guitar brand. A real win/win video.
I like that you introduced the unplugged right away. The cool thing about electric acoustics is being able to grab it and try some idea without having to plug it in. I'm drawn to archtop and semi-hollow bodies due to a shoulder problem that makes them more comfortable.
While this style is referred to as the SH-335 by AIO, it's really more of a copy of the ES-355 (note the multi-binding, ebony board, block inlays, etc.). I've acquired four of these (with fitted cases) over the past few years; trans-blue w/nickel hdwr, sunburst w/nickel hdwr, red burst w/gold hdwr, and purple burst w/gold hdwr. These have become my go-to guitars for almost any musical genre, but especially blues & jazzyblues improv flights of fancy. I'm very happy with these instruments.
I always wanted to purchase a 335/339 style guitar; I play blues mainly, always concerned with feed-back since my main amplifier is a Lonestar 100 Watt head with a 2 x 12 Rectifier cabinet. I don't want to purchase a major brand, since I am not certain I will like the 335/339 passed the discovery stage. What I really like about this brand, is the Purple color. How does it age when played on gigs often?
@@p6x2 Feedback isn't that much of an issue, unless you're too close to the amp (think real close - I've got to be right in front of my "65 Twin Reverb to get any at all). That's pretty typical of these semi-hollows--about the same for my CS-356 (I no longer have a ES-335) or any of my Gretsch semi-hollows (my fully hollow Gretsch models need a more reasonable distance). I've only had AIO SH-335s for about three years, collectively; once I get one, I can never seem to part with it. I don't gig any more but I think with reasonable care & caution these SH-335s would hold up and age well for the gigging blues/jazz/light rock/country player. A very heavy hard rock or heavy metal player might be well advised to consider something else since that lifestyle can be hard on semi-hollows--but then again, some folks live for that feedback potential. It's all good; to each, his own.
@@p6x2 Ask Eric.. If you don't want to splash £3k on a beautiful axe (and I had problems with mine) check out the Epiphone range..£900 for a plausible Lucille copy, plenty of 2nd hand Korean made models e.g. Sheraton II, really pleased with mine w/ Bareknuckle pick-ups (fitted by tech!)
I have one of these and I was amazed at how much I liked it. Played amazingly out of the box, much better than all of the Epiphone 335's I've tried. The ebony neck is a nice bonus. Biggest surprise, I usually replace all stock pickups in any guitar I buy, but these actually sound pretty good.
Utah Jeff …. Love this guitar and especially the color … reasonably priced …, I like that it is lighter than my Yamaha 611 and can be played like an acoustic…. It does have a sweeter, creamy sound
I have a Wolf and an AIO, both were set up excellent and quality made. Jin at AIO was very helpful and very knowledgeable. Unlike other online sellers, this is like buying from your local shop and you get a quality set up. I like the red model, I think purple is very sharp but I think (my humble opinion)it better fits a lady blues or lady rocker, especially if given as a Gift.
I bought a Wolf about 5 years ago. I was hesitant because it was a made in S. Korea but let me testify; These guitars for their low prices will rival any 4,000.00 guitar, they are really incredible. You won't be disappointed.
Funny thing, Max, but your showcasing of the Firefly 335 emulation back on 2019 had a triggering effect on me. Made me want to get my second Epiphobe Sheraton II. Afterwards in January 2021, I snagged a Fender Modern Player Deluxe Thinline Tele. Digging having 2 semi-hollow guitars in my rig. This guitar sounds great, and purple happens to be my favorite color. All the same though, I imagine that I wouldn’t get another semi hollow instrument other than a Yamaha SA2000 (most preferably one built in 1980 when I was born).
This is a great down to earth, informative video thankyou for showing us, ( probably the only video that I have watched all the way thru ) best wishes to you, 🙂👍🇬🇧
Well Max... You were right about the Firefly. Would like to see a comparison and se if this one outshines the firefly where you can justify the more expensive price.
Looks like I picked the wrong time to be happy with the semi hollow arch tops I already own. I’m a big fan of double cut arch tops. Jazz and blues are my standard go to when I pick one up.
I agree about having a decent semi hollow in the collection. You can grab and play without plugging in, and get sounds kind of between an acoustic and a solid body. Personally, I have trouble playing a standard acoustic because I find the deeper body shape kind of uncomfortable, as I hate leaning my arm over it. Hence, I play my Epiphone Sheraton II Pro more than anything, really, especially when sitting and practicing. When I stand and play, I hang my axes LOW, so my pick arm is nearly straight down, which is probably why I don't feel comfortable with standard acoustic shapes. Take care.
Ovations are the most comfortable acoustics! They get a lot of Sh**, but if David Gilmore owns, plays, and records on a couple of his Ovations, then there’s something to be said! I bought one with a Schecter, as my first 2 guitar purchases, and didn’t know much about either. It was more the look, and like you said, acoustics aren’t that comfortable. But go try an Ovation in the $400-$600 new or cheaper used, and there great. Or if you have money, go nuts!! I regret selling them, but had major back surgery at 24, and took 20 years to start playing again. Well, 18, I’m 44 and started playing again 2 years ago! Just rambling, but seriously, check one out! If you do, let me know what you think. I’m actually looking myself for an acoustic. That’s why I’m hyped about this, plus really bored!!!!
Yes, I agree that one of the best characteristics of this style guitar is that it can be played acoustically. I usually practice on my 335 without an amp.
@Ricky Anthony Tone doesn't matter to me much when I'm practicing. As for playing an acoustic, I'm not practicing styles in which an acoustic guitar is appropriate.
Looks and sounds pretty nice, but the end of the headstock is a very strange design, almost looks damaged from afar, did they have to do that for some kind of copyright reasons? Would look a lot better if that wasn't jagged.
I recently acquired a Latitude 335 knockoff very much like this in a greyburst stripe veneer finish. That features a roller saddle bridge and chrome hardware. Pickups are vintage PAF style with a bright lively tone. The neck and frets are super nice and the bone nut is cut correctly. I don't really care for the AIO headstock design but this seems to be a really nice guitar. Great color combo and the finish work looks impressive.
I am seriously considering purchasing this exact style purple SH-335 for Christmas this year. I agree that every guitarist should have a "Jazz Box" in their arsenal, they are phenomenal for damn near all styles of play.
Would love to see that with a gold plated Bigsby. My 1st electric was a 335 style from Crucianelli in 1966 with their version of a Bigsby. I still play that guitar, in spite of the issues with the f-hole binding being loose.
Would love to see a video of their shop. I’ve been looking at the AIO semi-hollow now for awhile. I like the headstock and full size Grover tuners. In years past I came close picking up one of the Wolf semi-hollows but just couldn’t get past the headstock shape and the mini Grover tuners. I’m glad they’ve come up with another option with the AIO brand. I did have one of their Wolf W300 6 string Rickenbacker inspired guitars and enjoyed it very much.
I think the color works great. Picked up a Harley Benton 335-style recently for similar reasons that you recommend - and play it a lot (especially while I sit here working-at-home). The AIO range looks great especially their relic strats (now ... if there was a heavy relic LP in cherry sunburst we might have a conversation ;-) ... or a relic V ...)
I've owned 2 Aio/Wolf guitars They are amazing, especially for the price...you get alot. I like the selection of lefties they offer too. Not many guitar brands do that.
I have the real deal 2005 ES-335 (Memphis built), but I really like the looks of this one; the multi-ply binding on the top, and the large block inlays of a 355.
Just discovered this brand thanks to your video. Love the color. Some of their other models have nicely styled headstocks but somebody really dropped the ball on this particular guitar.
For the hard rock/Heavy stuff 3 guys came to mind. Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl, and Pepper Keenan played a 335 for a while in Down. Of course there is Malcom Young
what do you like best 335, 345, or a 355. I have an Epiphone ES-355 Joe Bonamassa signature. Has black body, gold hardware, Bigsby B7 gold bridge, Nubone nut Ebony fretboard, gold grover locking tuners. rectangular Pearloid inlays. I added a St. Louis Blues strap for maximum Bluesy effect. Love it
My favorite color is purple and I especially love it paired with gold. I've found I like the smaller semi-hollows though (my go-to guitar right now is a pelham blue Epiphone ES-339). I was actually checking out AIOs site a few weeks ago curious if Wolf or AIO were still making a 339-sized semihollow I believe you reviewed on your channel a few years ago. I unfortunately didn't see any currently available. If they ever make more of those and add some of them in this purple burst I think I might have to get one!
Check out the D'Angelico mini DC. It's a better guitar than any of those - especially if you get the XT from their more budget friendly "Premier" line. Locking tuners + USA Seymour Duncans (JB & SH).

Beautiful guitar. Love the ES 335 body style.
Max... Great video.. And your t-shirt is Epic.
Love that color. Been thinking about trying one of that brand. If I do it will be the purple. Been wanting to build a purple Tele for my wife.

No shit buddy
I have one of these and I was amazed at how much I liked it. Played amazingly out of the box, much better than all of the Epiphone 335's I've tried. The ebony neck is a nice bonus. Biggest surprise, I usually replace all stock pickups in any guitar I buy, but these actually sound pretty good.
Calzones are delicious. Now I want a calzone.
I bought the purple guitar and it and it is so beautiful it’s almost exactly perfect ☮️
Completely agree. I own 3 in this style and love the purple. Thanks for the Get content.
Outstanding playing as usual. I sent this video to my Grandson. I believe this would be a great first guitar. He loves purple.
I'm soooo there!!! will take a purple 1. Any lefties?!? Thanks Max.
Can you share the Amp Presets of your GTX100 that you are using. I have a GTX100 but I haven't found those sounds yet. Nice!
Wow! Beautiful guitar!
Great looking & sounding guitar.
That semi-hollow is also GREAT for jazz gigs!
Gorgeous guitar Max and it sounds phenomenal.
Utah Jeff …. Love this guitar and especially the color … reasonably priced …, I like that it is lighter than my Yamaha 611 and can be played like an acoustic…. It does have a sweeter, creamy sound
Those color combinations are my favorite!
Still loving my AIO T-Style - Not a hitch from delivery to today.
This is a great down to earth, informative video thankyou for showing us, ( probably the only video that I have watched all the way thru ) best wishes to you, 🙂👍🇬🇧
Beautiful, versatile.
Well Max... You were right about the Firefly. Would like to see a comparison and se if this one outshines the firefly where you can justify the more expensive price.
This tour through Aio/Wolf will be great, I here in Brazil want to buy a guitar from them soon...
I'm playing HD 30 Washburn and I love it it's like a 335 but the tone selector's up top
Wow, that purple finish is superb!
Great guitar and you timing is great. Please do a video of their shop that would be great. Thanks as always Max. God Bless
Looks like I picked the wrong time to be happy with the semi hollow arch tops I already own. I’m a big fan of double cut arch tops. Jazz and blues are my standard go to when I pick one up.
That opening solo, should add some blues / jazz to your upcoming album
This guitar is the max, Max!
Damn bro I can't keep up with all these brands , wish we had all these choices 30 years ago!
You sold me! Gonna get one of these. Love your channel. Screw the haters.
You are a much better smooth jazz player than you realize. This was brilliant.
My friend bought a Wolf guitar. It was well made but the pickups were dead and muffled sounding. Also the pickup ring was cracked.
Love the sound of semi-hollows. My Epiphone Sheraton-II natural is still my fave.
Very nice guitar and colour. It sounds great as well.
I am seriously considering purchasing this exact style purple SH-335 for Christmas this year. I agree that every guitarist should have a "Jazz Box" in their arsenal, they are phenomenal for damn near all styles of play.
They are already out of stock of this one. No doubt because of this review.
@@joemonroe1106 That's kind of a bummer but oh well. I am eyeing an Epiphone 335 in Raspberry burst as another strong candidate.
Would love to see that with a gold plated Bigsby. My 1st electric was a 335 style from Crucianelli in 1966 with their version of a Bigsby. I still play that guitar, in spite of the issues with the f-hole binding being loose.
Love the color! Definitely a versatile guitar for any genre. Love your channel brother! Much love from the D.
Beautiful guitar
I'd love to see a video on the AIO shop.
I have a lefty Fire Fly 338 in a Royal Blue color. Amazing guitar.
Love the color. These look and sound similar to some Gretch guitars.
I've owned 2 Aio/Wolf guitars
They are amazing, especially for the price...you get alot. I like the selection of lefties they offer too. Not many guitar brands do that.
Nice guitar!
I'm diggin' the Conan shirt!!!
Thanks Max!
I chose a PRS HB2 and I am very happy with it. My other guitars are not happy about it. With the piezo I get an accoustic sound as well.
Simon
I believe that I have the grandaddy of that guitar, mine is a Gibson ES 347, bought it in late 70's I think, could have been the early 80's.
Nice-looking guitar. I dig the purple!
Claptons first electric guitar Yardbirds and the breakup of cream. His performance of crossroads was phenomenal !
Crom is pleased with your shirt
Aloha and mahalo! Great color combination.
For the hard rock/Heavy stuff 3 guys came to mind. Chris Cornell, Dave Grohl, and Pepper Keenan played a 335 for a while in Down. Of course there is Malcom Young
That guitar looks nice. I'm thinking about a Floyd Rose FRX for it.
Nice guitar. Would you say, that it is similar in construction to an Epiphone Dot 335?
Dude! I just 💘 that purple!!
It looks and sounds amazing.
Stunning guitar. Would buy one as an homage to the late great Prince ❤
Awesome looking guitar🎸🎸🤘🏻🤘🏻
It looks beautiful~! Nice review~! The Classic ES Style!
Very nice! I like that purple!
Nice sound! And a good looking guitar!!
Blues Max! Purple and gold - LA Laker Girls!
I Willy like this guitar bro I will get it for my Christmas give
what do you like best 335, 345, or a 355. I have an Epiphone ES-355 Joe Bonamassa signature. Has black body, gold hardware, Bigsby B7 gold bridge, Nubone nut Ebony fretboard, gold grover locking tuners. rectangular Pearloid inlays. I added a St. Louis Blues strap for maximum Bluesy effect. Love it
Gorgeous finish.
Nice axe indeed! This thing just sings, and that sustain is phenomenal! Great review.Max! 🤟😝🤟
What a fantastic video
Holy freaking crap, that's a pretty sweet toy. Love my 335's 👍👍I do all my Dio & Def Lep on one. Lol😀 thanks for the great post
Not a huge fan of gold hardware but over purple 💜 it
