I spent so much time arguing with the FrSky crowd arguing that the X-Lite should have accepted 18650s and basically be rearranged closer to this shape. Immediately switching to this radio when it comes out. Bye, FrSky.
Quick FAQ! - batteries are not included in the retail version (note in video, but some are missing it) - AG01 mini gimbals will not fit this radio, they are a different size. - Installed is ELRS V3.3 and an O/S based on EdgeTX 2.10.0 - don't fall for the click-bait. This isn't the 'best radio they've ever made', but it is a great option for those quad pilots who want a compact, cheap portable radio... - no other versions of this radio are planned at the moment (I.e. one with traditional trims and more three position switches, better suited to non BF pilots and models)
Thank you for holding the radio and demonstrating the gimbal operation around 3:00. I watched 2 or 3 other videos and you were the first one I saw that did this. You moved them with thumbs and pinching method. Helped me to visualize how it would feel, fit, and operate in my hands. More people should actually demonstrate that while reviewing radios IMO lol.
I just received my RM "Pocket" (w/ELRS) last week, and I'm very impressed. And, I love that it has 16 channels if I so need. The gimbals are just right for me and the feel is that it fits perfectly in my hands. It's not too big and bulky or too small either. Pair this up with a decent pair of goggles, and you have a winning combination for flying your drone or plane or copter or sailing a boat or driving an RC car, etc. Ultimately, this radio is perfect for me.
cheap, cheerful, TRANSPARENT and Portable 😉.. SMALL TX take up a small area on my workbench .. ELRS means my beloved white FS-i6R gets retired .. Radiomaster makes nice kit .... cheers !!
Lee: Like all of your videos, this was a quick, but thorough review of this cool little new Tx. Kudos to Radiomaster for the little storage bays for our removed sticks & to you for reminding us what functions you assign to your switches on this one. - Jim
newbie here been researching all the components and accessories, gotta say im happy i took so long to find my first transmitter cause this ones lookin beautiful
When you showed that orange shell, OrangeRX was the first thing that popped into my head. Not a radio for me, but it will be great for kids who want to get into the hobby and those on a very tight budget.
Pretty fantastic little radio, Lee! Excellent review!!! 😃 As soon as I fix the money issues here, my neighbor's kid is going to get a present... 😂 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That looks very interesting! I'm considering getting a second Boxer as a travel radio for those occasions where you might chuck a model in the boot on the offchance. But this might be a far better choice. I'm also lucky enough to have a second home at the other end of the country and again this might be something I can leave there with some models.
Thank you for your input. I love the look of this new radio, I'm impressed with the standard that Radiomaster are putting into their new range of products, coming more inline with the big box brands (spektrum, futaba, etc) and they have a nice range of radios to suit everyone's needs. Cheers
This just outpriced the FLYSKY FS-i6 and makes for a great entry level model. Going to get one! Do you know if the cover will be released as a STEP file for 3D Printing Tinkering?
This would be great for my son, he's currently using the RM TX12 with ELRS module and it has been solid since day one. I really like the different color casings. Great review as always.
For the price, looks great. I’m happy with my qx7 with the external ELRS module and I just got the new Hall sensor gimbals for it. It’s like a new radio
Hi Lee, do you think this would make for a good trainer tx? I guess it would he quite nice with the small form factor to hold for kids, as with larger classic radio transmitters their hands are too small and sticks too long.
For someone with smaller hands or on a limited budget, this could be a great option. Especially as you can use the ELRS version as a Bluetooth joystick with a PC sim... Happy flying
How does this feel in the hand compared to a Tango 2? One thing I disliked about the Zorro was it felt wrong in small hands like mine and I had to open my hands out in an unnatural way which made flying difficult, plus the gimbals were really high, the Tango 2 just feels right in the hand to me but I dislike it’s lack of physical trim switches which makes trimming planes difficult.
These things are personal choice, but I prefer the feel of this in the hands. As someone who flies with Taranis and TX16s for my own flying, this had a more natural feel and hand position... Happy flying
Nice review and on it quickly. Thanks. Do the gimbals feel like the tx12, with hall effects, or better? Not being full size is the only thing holding me back.
I don't have a tx12 here to try side by side, but I can say that I'd be e happy to fly on them. This is a cheap radio, and they feel better than I expected at this price point. Happy flying
@@Painless360 thanks. I just like the size and form factor so much. Think I will pull the trigger. Even if I just end up using it for micros and a backup.
have to say this is well priced and i like the look of it, i might just be tempted away from my trusty flysky I6x and use this for distance in my AR pro white falcon
my only issue with this is that it doesn't fit the ag01 mini gimbals that I've been slowly trying to save up for. You think its worth it to make a custom case that would house the Radiomaster Pocket's guts with those gimbals?
Hi ive just ordered this radio I wanted to give elrs a go as normal use spektrum and for use with my flying wings could you recommend what receiver I would be best to buy im UK many thanks I enjoy watching your videos and have learnt a lot from you thanks
It says fcc c2500 has 100mW max output internal . Would a 1 watt module reduce battery life to 42 minutes ? weak towards the end ? I want a one handed version someday
I am mid-build of a fixed wing ardupilot drone (been devouring your videos many many thanks for the content !! ) and as a newby i bought a RM pocket. Why do you say it missing some commands? Is the missing command connected to flight modes? Could you use the wheel for trim? My plane does NOT have a rudder (Flightory Lark). (Also, idea for video if you havent discussed it already: with an ardupilot controller should you create mixes in the flight controller or is better in the radio controller??)
I got mine today....the elrs version. When I go to expresselrs under the system menu and choose it, the radio just says "loading". Nothing more. Has my unit come without the Lua on there?
Congrats for your videos ! Iam a RC Airplane pilot flying with Spektrum. I am now interested to fly a fpv wing like the new AtomRC Penguin. I don’t want to create complicate missions and just have iNav with autolaunch and RTH. Would this great RadioMaster Pocket be sufficient ? Otherwise wich radio would you suggest for the Penguin ? Thanks in advance.
I love mine, not much to compare it to, I'm pretty new but I did manage to pick up a taranis qx7 as part of a second hand bundle but it's huge. I want kit I can fling in a packpack and still have space for other gear. The only thing I don't like are the two sa/sd buttons, they don't lock properly enough, they give false positive if you tap them lightly rendering them unusable for me. I would never assign anything important to those buttons. It would be worth modding and replacing
At the moment, Radiomaster is aiming these compact radios at the FPV and quad flying pilots. I've fed back the need for more switches and trims for non Betaflight flying, so fingers crossed... Happy flying
I like the fact that Radiomaster has learnt to put 18650 in this radio.
They listened to us...
Batteries not included
@@gregorydahl , unfortunately they don’t come with the batteries, but at least they offer some large capacity batteries for them
