Hey man uh firstly a great video, I would like to congratulate you on that. But this symbol was used by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk as well, founder of the Turkish Republic. Now it must be considered that Turks before the revolutions of Ataturk, was a society highly based on Islamic values, and to change it to state nationalism instead. Some may call this fascist, however one must remember that fascism is highly based on the aftermath of the Industrial Revolution and socially its based on traditionalism, while Ataturk actually brought the first proper industrialization attempts to Turkey which were successful, and even changed many traditions to follow the modern world order. The reason today people of Turkey are this ultra nationalistic, is because they fail to understand Atatürk’s revolutions and their reasons of so. Also I would like to say that MHP became what it is in the 60’s as they transitioned an already existing right wing party into the literal n@zi party. Before that it was known that he was a member of an organization that is named “Nasyonel Aktivite ve Zinde Inkisaf” which mimicked the n@zi way of life, and did the n@zi salute. The wolf hand gesture was used in the 60’s, but there really isn’t that much evidence of that except some really old photos and cartoons.

You seem to like comparing the wolf hand gesture with nazi signs. Just because an extremist group used the hand gesture since it had linked with being Turkish, Its really funny how everyone here says the symbol is not about racism but somehow you guys interpret it as racist, how could the symbol stop being linked with racism? I dont think it was racist at the first place. Also, banning one of our best player for two rounds, definetly not because of the symbol. Its obvious from Turkey that he did that gesture to show a Turkish salute, since the Turkish team won and its a turkic symbol.

Cool. By that logic the roman salute should be allowed too. "Just because an extremist group used the salute", it shouldn't be interpreted as racist. Goes both ways :)

@@AkravHistoryits not seen racist by people here who dont link it to MHP. Just because the ultra mega nationalists used it doesnt mean it cant lose its original meaning. Obviously its common knowledge that MHP uses it but for gods sake its not a terror symbol. The Roman symbol was probably not that popular at the time and interpreted like the grey wolf symbol.

Overall it's a nice video. There are a few points that I disagree with and that I'm too tired to talk about. But there is one point that I am definitely against; equating the Nazis and the Gray Wolves towards the end of the video. I guess you didn't do this with a specific agenda, that is, with bad intentions, but you repeated the arguments that Germans use to not feel alone on this issue. I follow the German media a lot on this issue and they are making this propaganda to shake off the label of "the most racist, the only genocidal, the dirtiest history". Don't get me wrong, I am a Turk who recognizes the Armenian genocide, so I am not writing these with clear subjective opinions. I hate MHP and what it represents and I don't give a damn about their salute.
Just wanted to point it out. Cheers 🙂.

That's right, perhaps something should have been said about the scales of these parties being on a different level, but I don't think that means the Grey Wolves get a pass. Their links are there, and their racial supremacy ideologies are similar. Correct me if I'm wrong but if the MHP came to full power in Turkey, what awaits the Kurds?
One other minor note, from where I'm standing, it looks like Germany in general is doing a pretty good job taking responsibility and educating themselves about their dark past.

@@AkravHistory Thank you for your response.
I will try to explain as best as I can. It's a bit difficult for people who do not live in Turkey to grasp this, and I hope you won't label what I'm about to write as "Turkish propaganda" because I will provide an answer contrary to the perception on non-Turkish social media.
Assuming you don't know, I want to talk about their origins. The organization known as the Grey Wolves was actually established and funded by the US during the Cold War to combat communist structures in NATO member states. There were similar groups in Italy, which you can find by researching "Gladio." Yes, especially in the 60s and 70s, this organization was used by the state as a "silencing" apparatus against minorities (such as the Maraş massacre). The problem in the subsequent period was this: especially after the end of the Cold War, all other states disbanded these paramilitary organizations, except for Turkey. So, how did this happen? Here, we need to understand one point: the MHP and the organization known as the "Grey Wolves" changed significantly, especially after the death of Türkeş. Until 2010, they managed to survive as representatives of nationalist voters, but especially after 2010, they became a monstrous structure representing no political ideology. If you ask someone in Turkey what they think about the MHP, instead of nationalism and racism, concepts like mafia, drug trafficking, and money laundering will come to their mind. Let me tell you something even more interesting: you can find news in Turkish about Kurdish mafias and these MHP-affiliated mafias collaborating in these dirty businesses. Furthermore, as you know, Turkey has been dealing with a refugee/asylum seeker issue for 10 years. And this "racist" party supports these refugees/asylum seekers staying in the country and labels citizens who want them to leave as racist. Is there a radical right-wing party in Europe with such rhetoric? 😄 In the last general elections, those dissatisfied with AKP, Erdoğan's party, "punished" him by voting for MHP, the party in the alliance, not for their ideology or promises (because there is none). Their situation is this pathetic. So, my answer to your question is that nothing will happen to the Kurds within Turkey different than last 20 years or so because they have long ceased to act with any political ideology. Bahçeli recently stated that Kurds and Turks should marry more (😄), which you can find in Turkish sources if you search.
The problem is although Germany's responsibility towards its history is admirable, even if it was initially due to the pressure of the occupying Allied forces, I have no objection. But the problem is that a part of the public is no longer that satisfied with it. More precisely, they are very annoyed by not being able to be nationalist even in the slightest because we instantly label them as Nazis. The fact that Demiral's gesture was most talked about in Germany is no coincidence; I saw the question "Why can Turks be nationalists in our country while we can't be nationalists in our own country?" all over German social media and heard it from my German friends. I can talk more about this, especially about the German media channels and their propaganda in Turkey, but it would take too long and is unnecessary. All I will say is that I have enough evidence to doubt the true thoughts of every German and Austrian with this Nazi=Grey Wolves idea.
