What I disliked about every video on the Nagorno-Karabagh conflict was the fact they never covered why the conflict was being fought for that land, and why the countries hate each other. I read about Azeris oppressing Armenians after the Armenian genocide, but I couldn't find enough information about it; the Ottoman Empire fell, so what motivated Azeris to continue the oppression for a century? I hope to learn from this channel.
Hello, thanks for reaching out. As you probably already know, the Turkic tribes were first introduced to the region around the 11th century and assimilated many local populations, often violently. I would say the animosity dates back to that introduction of the Turkic tribes into anatolia. If you do a DNA test on Azerbaijanis, most would show closer proximity to Persians than those central asian Turkic tribes. Similarly, people in Turkey would be closer to Greeks, Armenians and Kurds. Historically when things aren't going well in a country, they often blame minorities, as they did in the Ottoman empire, starting with the Armenians. It was just too advantageous for them to fan the flames of this animosity, even when it resulted in genocide. After the Armenians were erased, they blamed the Kurds. The animosity was further exacerbated by the Russians as they divided borders along arbitrary lines, such as including Artsakh into Azerbaijan SSR, effectively making themselves the guarantor of peace and stability in the region. Azerbaijan today is an oil-rich dictatorship but most of its population lives in poor conditions because their wealth overwhelmingly concentrated at the top. In order to maintain this status, it's still advantageous for the ruling Aliyev regime to keep fanning the flames of the animosity. I have videos going through Azerbaijani history books that claim Azerbaijani Turks had been living in Azerbaijan since the dawn of mankind whereas Armenians were moved there by the Russians. This of course has zero academic support, but it keeps people looking outwardly at Armenians as the enemy.
Many and I say MANY of RealLifeLore's video are woefully misinformed or even outright wrong. The only reason why I and many others fall for their videos is because their fancy editing has tricked us to believe them on topics we're not experts on. I'd say the best choice would be to unsubscribe to not trick ourselves into false beliefs
As an Azerbaijani I respected you for speaking with evidences. I really appreciate that. But also im genuinely curious about Khojaly genocide which happened in 1992 by Armenians. I want to know the truth about it. I would be very happy if you could explain it in your another video 🙏🏻
I appreciate your comment, but I don't think you understand what the word "genocide" means. Genocide does not mean that a few hundred people died or a few thousand. It means that there was an INTENT to destroy a group of people. I don't want to minimize the massacre of civilians no matter where it happens, it should be condemned every time. But you can not compare that to over a century of planned, coordinated and intentional operations to finish off Armenians from the region. 60% of all Armenians died in the Ottoman Empire. 100% of Armenians have been removed from Artsakh now. I get comments on my videos from Turks many times a day celebrating these events often referring to "finishing the job". I don't see that on the Armenian side, nowhere near it. And finally, it's not up to me. Genocide is a legal term and historians and legal experts at large agree about what the Ottomans did constituted Genocide. Nobody other than Turkey and Azerbaijan calls Khojaly a "genocide" and they do it for political gain: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khojaly_massacre#Politicization
@@AkravHistory alright I got it. But now it’s not like 100% Armenians have been killed or smth in Artsakh a.k.a Karabakh. It’s just Azerbaijan occupied this territory, so that’s why Armenians had to be removed from there bc obviously this two nations couldn’t live jointly get along well with each other. I don’t see anything wrong here. Besides I just want to hear your point of view about Khojaly genocide and also Armenian massacre in Ottoman Empire. It’s just intriguing to explore and be cognizant of new facts regarding this issue. Thanks in advance. And again don’t get me wrong pls if I said something offensive or wrong 🙏🏻
Georgia - Azerbaijan relations are pretty healthy. They have pipelines going around Armenia through Georgia. Furthermore, Azerbaijan constantly tries to pander to Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine making the case that they too have "separatists", when Artsakh is an entirely different case. I talk more about this in my Armenians in Ukraine video!

But everyone knows whos the real killer. Thank you for mentioning that propagandic video❤
Ok another correction to your video Akrav. Azerbajian now control the Lachin/Berzdor Corridor after it was surrendered by Armenia in August of this year.
@@AkravHistory There is a new corridor through a border village in Armenia that is currently acting as a road (it's a dirt road right now) leading to Stepanakert and there was newly constructed roads on the Azerbaijan side for Russian peacekeepers to move there. Unfortunately, the villages that have been captured and other towns including shushi that were already liberated in 2020 is being used as military bases.

Still really good video though, and I actually learned a lot of things I didn't know about the conflict (notably the sheer degree of western involvement in the new ceasefire and the legality of artsakh's independence referendum)
I know right? Seems like it's one Iranian flag. If I had to guess, I'd say this was around the time when the protests in Iran were in full swing and there were some anti-regime Iranian protests in US/Europe as well.
Nice video but you are wrong in one thing, you said "Velvet revolution got rid of pro-russian government". But nobody mentions the fact that Serj Sargsyan and Russia relations were pretty bad to the point that Russians disliked Sargsyan heavily at the end part of his leadership
Thanks for the comment! I would counter that it was Serzh Sargsyan who broke off CEPA negotiations with the EU, to pursue membership in the Russian-led Eurasian Union. But correct me if I'm wrong!
@@AkravHistory Serj wanted to make an approach to Europe yes.. but eventually broke off the negotiations as you say, because Russia was already pressuring and threatening him, just like Pashinyan, who started his campaigns being a solid anti-russian to nowdays succumb into Kremlin influence and trying shynessly to split from Russia. It was not the only threat from Kremlin to Serj administration, there were also several cases, such Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan in 2016/18 traveling to China in order to buy weapons and getting warned by Russia, Lukashenko conversations with Serj, and etc etc. Dont misunderstand me, im not protecting Serj nor attacking him, he was a corrupt, he was running a network of mafia inside the country and ruined economically the country, but one cant argue that he was a very patriotic man (in his manner) and held Armenia high outside the country. This and many moves of Serj pissed off Kremlin, thats why the Velvet revolution consipracies exist such as Serj or Russians allowing Nikol to come to power, although i have no opinion about this, they are just mere hypotesis
Sounds plausible, I don't see anything obviously wrong with that hypothesis. Either way, I for one am glad about the reduced Russian influence that resulted and the moves towards the West that followed.
@@AkravHistory Yes, cutting ties with miserable Russia would be a sweet goal, but a dangerous one at the same time. West is not a dreamland either, they can be as despicable as Russia under the "democracy" title. We just have to strenghten the country and gain time by playing both sides, it seems the most acceptable plan.. for now.
Thanks for this great video. The truth came to the light Finally. I feel sorry for the Azerbaijan people which they have to live under the dictatorship of this criminal regem. Hopefully in the near future Azerbaijani people can get Read of this criminal and blood trusty regime and become democratic country like Armenia. Thanks again. And god bless you.
Thank you for your kind words. Indeed, it's a tragic for the everyday Azerbaijani. I share the hope for a future where our neighbors can experience freedom and democracy, akin to Armenia. Blessings to you as well.
Thanks so much! That's right, I think they were mistakes or just trying hard to be "balanced". I don't think it was malicious intent, but one could make an argument against maintaining neutrality in the face of a regime like Azerbaijan's.
Thanks for this informative video. I must say, I feel the title "Everything WRONG..." is a bit misleading... Honestly, not knowing your channel beforehand, by the title I thought this video would be something like "This is all lies and propaganda, Azerbaijan never attacked" etc. I still feel the Reallifelore video makes a good, yet overly simplified overall picture of conflict, and your video gives valuable extra insight. Thanks for your work.
Thank you for watching - sorry for the confusion. The title isn't implying that everything is wrong in RLL's video, but that my video will talk about everything that is wrong in RLL's video. Hope that's clearer. Thanks for the input!
Curious question, is Armenias future as Grimm as RLL Makes it out to be at the end? Or is it grossly exaggerated or oversimplified. Thanks for the video, very well researched.
It's hard to say definitively. On one hand, Armenia is developing so fast economically and on civil liberty metrics that the future looks very promising, barring outside interference. On the other hand, outside interference is a very real threat in the form of Turkey, Azerbaijan, and not least, Russia. Personally, I'm optimistic with the increasing Western engagement in the region. The new EU border monitoring mission in Armenia has the dictators from Azerbaijan and Russia complaining every chance they get, so Armenia must be doing something right to finally gain her full independence, so to speak. Whether or not I'll eat those words someday in the future remains to be seen! Thanks very much for watching and commenting!
@@AkravHistory So funny thing is I didn’t see the rest of your channel until after I typed. Are you Armenian yourself? I’d say Armenia needs to leave the CSTO ASAP and apply for NATO membership when possible. Turkey blocking other countries from joining is making the EU fume and Turkey is likely not going to continue getting away with it.
@@andrewrogers3067 What do you mean about the channel? Unfortunately, history doesn't agree with that. Turkey somehow always seems to get away with it. As much as I'd love to see Armenia in NATO, unfortunately, it's not realistic. If they're not letting Sweden or Finland in, can you imagine them ever letting Armenia in? The CSTO is meaningless and Armenia didn't send any assistance to Russia's invasion, and have even been defiantly refusing to take part in any exercies. Nobody in the CSTO seems to care about the CSTO as much as Westerners using it to justify not helping Armenia. We have to be better!
@@AkravHistory Well most of your videos are about Armenia and Armenian history. And don’t worry I don’t have an issue with Armenia, I’m from the U.S myself. The Sweden debacle is getting many EU countries extraordinarily aggravated at Turkey, with some even withholding support due to the earthquake because of it. If Sweden does join NATO three at least some chance Armenia can as well. Of course a smooth transition would be Turkey being kicked out. The CSTO is absolutely worthless, aside from Belarus, I think Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are also refusing to help.
@@andrewrogers3067 Oh yes, the channel is basically me rediscovering my roots and documenting the process, usually in a lighter mood. I just don't see Turkey being kicked out of NATO or them ever accepting Armenia in, unfortunately. But I appreciate your optimism! Regarding the CSTO, not many in Armenia were surprised or were expecting much from it. For some reason the headlines in the news all seem to suggest that Armenia is so shocked that Russia didn't come to help. Armenians in general have known for quite a while.
id rather have armenia be closer to russia politically than the west. where has the west gotten us? our benefits from the west are minimal. Also, for the record i am not diehard pro-russia, but it seems more logical to me
Sure. The West stopped the last invasion, followed by a border monitoring mission that looks like had a much greater effect than the CSTO ever did, and 2.6 billion euro investment not that long ago. What has Russia done for Armenia?
According to the Democracy Index, Armenia ranks 89th in the world and Azerbaijan ranks 141. Let's not put them on the same level. And perhaps more importantly than that, the trend for Armenia has been going up year after year, whereas Azerbaijan has stayed the same (it can't go much lower). Some infographics for you: imgur.com/a/3DLrf1q
When will you people understand that "Lachin Corridor" is just the given name to a state of fact that has been going on for decades. The term has no legal implications whatsoever. Also, Azerbaijan has had control over Lachin corridor for a few months now. And finaly, the "soviet law" you are mentioning to justify Karabagh's independance stipulates crystal clear "independance from the UNION" not from de SSR.

Great job my friend, thanks for your hard work. Keep it up.
It's a pleasure, thank you very much!
Great premium video. Hopefully RLL sees this, but even if it doesn't blow up it was well made.
Thanks very much, that's all we can do and hope for the best!
Many and I say MANY of RealLifeLore's video are woefully misinformed or even outright wrong. The only reason why I and many others fall for their videos is because their fancy editing has tricked us to believe them on topics we're not experts on.
I'd say the best choice would be to unsubscribe to not trick ourselves into false beliefs
very enlightening. im glad someone covered it

@semaseferli266 no worries. My opinion is: massacres are bad.

At 17:32 how come Georgia voted for recognizing artsakh as AZ, I’m honestly not too informed on Georgian relations with AM nor AZ.

@@AkravHistory So, effectively, Armenia's CSTO membership is defunct and useless?
That's frustrating and also disloyal from the other members.
You're right, it's useless... for Armenia. But the CSTO exists to serve Russian interests, and it that regard it's less useless!
Ok another correction to your video Akrav.
Azerbajian now control the Lachin/Berzdor Corridor after it was surrendered by Armenia in August of this year.
You're right, they control the village but there's still a corridor there, no? They just moved to a new road was my understanding.
@@AkravHistory There is a new corridor through a border village in Armenia that is currently acting as a road (it's a dirt road right now) leading to Stepanakert and there was newly constructed roads on the Azerbaijan side for Russian peacekeepers to move there.
It's a dangerous political game at the moment.
Unfortunately, the villages that have been captured and other towns including shushi that were already liberated in 2020 is being used as military bases.

13:59 Iranian and American Flags?
We just have to strenghten the country and gain time by playing both sides, it seems the most acceptable plan.. for now.
Agreed!
Thanks for this great video. The truth came to the light

It says enough about how true it is that 'Russia is Armenia's biggest protector', now that the US is now doing military trainings with Armenia🤷♂️

So "Lachin Corridor" is a "state of fact", but "Republic of Artsakh" isn't?
