Most horrible experience ever on all levels with them . Broken AM Plus chair and getting a voucher is like the world upside down, I will never ever fly with that greedy airliner again

Did they see your reviewer coming and upgrade them because of who they were? Since zucchini is also known as courgette, I call it courgetti when used as spaghetti and zudles when used as noodles.
I wonder if the person flying is a frequent flyer for skyteam? I'd be more inclined to say that aeromexico oversold economy, saw high frequent flyer status on a partner skyteam airline and upgraded them (given that upgrades are commonly status based afterall).
I would say considering the fact the reviewer got to board the plane before anyone else, I would say they realized the person is a reviewing the flight, hence the special treatment. The reviewer got upgraded at the gate, not at checkin, so I doubt it's due to frequent flyer status.
I have flown with the carrier from Tokyo to Mexico City , Mexico City to Los Angeles , Mexico City to can cub . My experiences on board this airline have never been memorable, nor enjoyable.
