It’s suppose to take a short 4s I believe it is 2888x . But you lost out traxxas changed that battery now it’s long and thin . It’s so you don’t put different rates of battery in there and burn it down
The Venom case is the same as the 4s Reaction batteries I had and slightly smaller then the 4s Gens Ace I got on Amazon. All have the leads in the same location.

It was only first delivery units to Hobby Shops that got the lights with it. It cost $70 me more to buy this one because of the lights. Lights will be available for purchase.
For the battery issue I would suggest putting the battery on its side so the wires don’t get crushed as bad. I do that on my x maxx and it works perfectly
You will get more control over the Maxx in the field if you install the Traxxas Wide Max Kit. $50.00. Something Traxxas should have done as stock in the very beginning !
@@CCxRC I think Traxxas should develop a 1/10 Truggy with the same solid build, like that of the Maxx 1/10, but with a much longer wheel base like that of the Tenko Tuggies. They got to try something different apart from the Monster and Rock Crawler offerings !

I sugest to anyone buying one to buy a few extra washers for the tires because if / when a tire comes loose you will most likely loose the washer,ruining your rc day! Think about that ...

Did you upgrade to Velcro straps for the battery yet? Check A main hobbies vid about their 6s upgrade. Looks simple and it will fix a big gripe for you.
I like it too but the price should have been about $450 to make it more competitive. The LHS told me that it would be an extra $90 for the lights plus $520 + tax. Too much for my liking honestly. Thanks for the video. What about $450 with the lights included? . That would have been more tempting.

It looks like a nice truck, but the battery tray is a bummer. All mine come out on the top. The only ones that may fit that I have are my airplane packs but I would need to compare the measurements. I'll wait to see what everyone else thinks of these trucks.

It's a really solid RC. It does like to roll in the corners...like most monster trucks. This just has extra speed that makes it roll easier. I would like the wheels to be offered with a wider offset.
That's what I did. Just first impressions. But battery compartments make or break the experience for me. I really want a UDR or Super Baja Rey, but don't want to deal with the battery compartments, so I haven't bought either. Got a Mojave instead. Not as scale, but it allows for easy battery access and overall access. To each his own.

Hey tony I was just watching amains channel and they swapped it for a 6s power system and they used some "pure tech" battery strap system that worked pretty good and was easy to install.

Why do RC companies insist on using anything other than simple velcro battery straps? They are simple, cheap, effective and easily replaced. And yeah, after seeing this there is even less doubt in my mind that the 4WD Stampede is not long for this world. And as soon as they make a short course version an SC Maxx if you will, the 4WD Slash is gone too.
Yeah, it's the new "1/10" meaning it's the size of a 1/8 scale buggy. The same way that most SC Trucks are 1/10 or the Revo/T Max are 1/10. The scale listed on basher RCs these days doesn't really mean anything. Scale is only meaningful on race RCs that have to follow size restrictions to be race legal.
Man, when I bought mine, I was shown a traxxas battery for this particular vehicle (of course) for another 100 dollars, I agree about loosing points on that, great review 👍🏼

Megasty15 Last monster truck I owned was going back some years. I had a Savage 25, with a picco 28, I put all of the purple bits onit too cost an arm n leg. Right down to the rippled exhaust which p,red me off when it got dis coloured from the heat . That was a big rolly polly

But a slightly wider stand would definitely help. I would prefer it to be done by offering another right with a different offset vs. hex extensions though.
@@JMRST I have a first gen 6S Outcast and a number of Traxxas vehicles the Outcast is hands down the best RTR I've ever driven and the Armma trucks have been updated I don't imagine they're worse. I'd buy another Outcast before I replaced it it's that good and they have a 1/10 4S version that sounds like the perfect all around truck out of the box. As far as aftermarket that's kind of the thing with Traxxas. No doubt they have a larger support base and the platforms are versatile but I find that to get the most out of them they _need_ upgrades. That's why the common saying with Traxxas is that people like what they do for the hobby more than the products themselves. That being said I don't hate Traxxas and I plan on buying (and upgrading) an X Maxx myself but as far as value and satisfaction with an RTR I lean towards Arrma As a side note. I have a friend that owns a hobby shop that sells most brands and he swears the absolute value leaders are Redcat but I'm personally not crazy about their designs and parts are harder to come by

I just think it's too narrow and too expensive. They could of sold 5 million of these if they sold it for around 400$ but over 500$ for a 10th scale just seems wrong. For such a big company they seem allergic to giving their customers a great or good deal. I think it's cool just too expensive imho.
Great video, complete bullshit with that battery box. Would be easy enough if you only needed to dremel out a place for the battery wire. Unfortunately the height/ thickness is the issue. Makes me second guess buying one. Traxxas is the king in dealer networks, it's not a hobby shop if it does sale and support Traxxas.
I had to pay extra for the model with the light bar. It was $600. My guess is though...that it was a savings over what the light bars will cost to add later. That said, pricing is difficult to criticize. This comes with big shocks, a durable and unique chassis, nicer than normal RTR electronics and transmitter. It's like a cadillac basher.
The truck is nice, but I don't like the fact that they think you'll use all of their products to run their vehicles... I own a Slash, 2 TRX-4, 1 TRX-4 Sport, and their new TRX-6, but I will never use or own their batteries, or chargers! And I don't like their plugs either!

There's a video of a 7200mah 4s SMC fitting in fine. Maybe Venom has a thicker case or something? It is odd.

Just got the Maxx yesterday and I love it. And yes if you already have battery’s that don’t fit then that is definitely the only negative.
Luckily my smc 7200mAh 4s battery for my xmaxx 8s fit perfectly in my maxx 4s. And I also have a power hobby 4s 5200mah 50c Lipo that fit too.
Spektrum smart 4s 5000mah 100c fit like a glove

that's what I did. I had to really force it to get it to close. The plastic battery holder bar was bending pretty good.

They definitely should have installed true 17mm axles. Traxxas missed a boat on this one. Constantly tightening axle nuts after couple of runs.

I don't like the clipless body trend or the connectors, but everything else I've seen seems good so far.

agreed. It does like to roll. The TSM definitely helps keep it driving straight under power, but turning does require you to slow down a lot.
