Theresia, you need to get yourself an Etsy shop because I already know I need some of those mason jar cozies! Also some crocheted pouches and a cooking series. You're an amazing woman!
@@janebute2541 I agree! I can't wait until I can sit in the Arizona sun in winter and crochet. If you like to crochet it isn't a job. What is a problem is people ordering things they want and having deadlines. Put up for sale what you feel like making and just don't take orders. Great way to support a yarn addiction!
I truly enjoyed this couple and they're frugal means of living. For being married for 45 years they have shown not only is it possible for two people to live in a van but that love can keep you together💕
Thank you Maria. We believe in being "nice" rather than using energy to make other peoples' lives more difficult. We're all dealing with something and do not need others to pile on more. Shalom and Happy Trails! 👵 🚐
I'm old enough to remember a time when we were not a "throw away society". It seems everything is disposable today including interpersonal relationships and it is truly sad.
@Jay Harter Sue on the Sue Me TH-cam Channel says that if you put it in a pretty box it isn't hoarding. 😄 I think the same goes with Theresia's bins and bags - if you can put it in a pretty box, bin or bag, it isn't hoarding.
@@geriatricgypsies6172 Oddly, I am super thrifty and not into throwing things I can re-purpose, but my mom is a tosser. She was almost 10 at the beginning of Great Depression. She HAD to look rich at all costs. It consumed her.
@@geriatricgypsies6172 You two are an inspiration. My husband and I are absorbing videos/knowledge getting ready to go on the road. We live west of Palm Springs. My husband is aiming to retire in July 2021. Plan on getting a Chevy Express cargo van also. We are doing the same piece together what we have plan. Best I can tell we have everything we need for our van build. Our local Buy Nothing Group on FB has been a great resource for purging what we don't need and gather what we think we need. I do loads of dehydrating when produce is on sale. We eat well on the cheap. We will attend the RTR. Maybe we will meet up there.
Its good to see couples that have been together that long grasp the new lifestyle and make it work. They have shown us that you don't need a big expensive rig to live comfortable. They may have taught us all something.. Good work
Christopher, thank you for your kind comment but the truth is we both feel very blessed to have found each other and had nearly 50 years together! I am sad that you could not have had more time together with your loved one. Shalom and Happy Trails! 👵 🚐🌞
@Jay Harter The reason i say "their age" is, they're MY age (at least), 63. I'm seriously interested in doing the same thing, so it's good to see people MY age doing it. It seems that the majority of folks in this lifestyle are younger than I, so anytime I see someone MY age (or older) living it, HAPPILY, I get a better feeling about it.
Kim, I already had the collapsible bins so I just simply made covers for them. They really don't stand up well on their own. They were just meant to pretty up the space since I didn't think I could handle all the brown all the time. Shalom and Happy Trails! 👵 🚐🤗 💕
Awesome couple. The brand of dehydrated goodies they use is so appropriate because they are certainly thriving on the road! Love the use of crocheted covers and totes to store and protect their food and other supplies. Thanks Bob (& KC) for another awesome video!
What a great way to use your yarn stash before you get on the road! Then you don't have to worry about giving your away or selling it. I have also torn up old sheets and made rugs. That would be great for a van, too. I am so glad I watched this video. It has given me some great, unique ideas! Thanks so much!
Such a lovely couple. I love the name. Geriatric Gypsies. Her crochet work is beautiful and so organized with it. I enjoyed listening to both of them. Super delightful people.
With all due respect, they are an adorable couple. God bless and Many happy travels and continued life experiences!! Thank you Bob for sharing and your continued kindness, many blessings to you!
Wonderful, happy and loving couple! So much of an inspiration. Even in how to think and love one another. And Theresia's crocheting has really come in handy in that van! May God Bless the two of you in your travels!
Really Nice Couple, ... Sweet, Honest, Helpful, Encouraging, Down to Earth etc ~ Just like our Bob !!! : ) Love your Crocheting (patterns) on your Baskets - very Cheery !!
Just like the wisdom of wearing clothes in layers, having the mattresses in smaller sizes stacked allows options to restack or discard what is no longer useful. Great idea ! I am always surprised there aren't more people using dehydrated foods. I believe it's because they are educated on HOW TO and fear the taste. This would be a great video teaching RV'rs HOW TO utilize this space saving food.
What a lovely couple. Really enjoyed this video, truly an inspirational couple. Just goes to show you if you are creative and really want to get out there with not much money you can do it! Thank you Bob for another great interview!
Gosh you guys are so smart and innovative. I admire what you’ve done. As an income stream I’ll bet you could sell those jar cozies. I hate hearing my stuff rattling around as i drive those bumpy desert roads.
Wow, Theresia I love your and your husbands way of doing things. Am saving this video and going to your website to as much as I can. Thank you for letting people know that you dont all kind of expensive things to do this. God Bless.
I really need to learn how to crochet, it really brightens up ones living space. A beautiful and lovely couple. Thank you for finding these gems, I learned a thing or two, which is always a good thing in my book.
Great ideas, for sure! Thanks!! My Dad too lived through the depression, on his own at 16, and frugal use of what you already have has always been a part of our lives. Dad used old metal bodied flashlights and a piece of broken tent stake bolted together to create a fishing pole holder! Worked great! All kinds of ways to repurpose junk and make life easier, more fun. Great way to go.
Super fun couple! All those crochet coozies are fantastic and very marketable! Gonna go ck out their channel. Would love to hear more about freeze-dried food and how to acquire, store and cook with it. Thanks Bob!
I'd never thought of the use of bulk freeze dried foods before (somehow, in my mind, that was within the purview of backpackers or "survival preppers"). But it's a REALLY clever solution for van dwellers, too. I'm going to keep that in mind...
Theresia I to love to crochet. Love all the little bags you have put to use and the covers for jars, plastic bends and such. Lovely work... Bob great interview..
What a wonderful couple and they have so many great ideas. I’ve heard of “Thrive” foods and glad to see someone is using them in this way. I love to crochet and was excited to see all the useful ways crochet can be incorporated into van life.
What a darling couple! and still happy after all those years. Love the no build, build rig. You're right Therise, Thrive foods can be pricey but very tasty and delicious. You're an inspiration to many of us. Tks Bob for another wonderful vid. PS love all the crochet stuff..very cleverxxooxx
@Jay Harter the coyotes actually were right outside our"tin tent" a.k a. Van since we were sitting right next to a wash. I could hear the rustling of the brush which is what woke me up. They couldn't have been more than 15 feet away from our bed! It was our first encounter with the wild life and we were safely nestled in our beds! Love those campfires. Don't know if we'll ever get to enjoy that again because my DH suddenly experienced kidney failure without any explanation.
