Disclaimer: As stated earlier, this video was written and voiced well over a month ago. It's been in the editing bay for several weeks, and was just recently finished.
Dont matter, as long as my favorite Stepdad is there for us im chillin. Hope You, Crymetina and Zach Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, you deserve it after 9 years of dealing with us dirtbags lol Love you bud🖖🖖🖖
I believe the blonde little mac is actually known as Punished "Venom" Mac. He was a close friend of the original Little Mac and a fellow boxer. Venom Mac was chosen to carry on little Mac's legend while the OG Little mac went to Zanzibar Land with doc Luis to train and become even stronger for his eventual return and then his invitation to smash.
I think a remaster of the Wii game, with the Doc Louis WiiWare stuff, and a Special Circuit like the SNES one, with a couple of new and returning fighters in said Circuit, could be amazing, if not incredible.
I think Super Punch-Out!! (SNES) is such a ridiculously underrated game. the NES one was awesome, godlike by NES game standards really, but it's such a shame more people don't check out the SNES one. it's so freakin fun to play and has so much personality and charm. I happen to think it's a little more forgiving of beginners, too!
Facts, Super Punch-Out my favorite boxing video game. I think reason why people don't like Super Punch-Out is because the structure of the gameplay with it's 1 round system and you can't win by decision.
So an interesting fact here, apparently Disco Kid was actually originally supposed to be Kid Quick but was changed. I believe he's actually still referred to as Kid Quick in the game files of Punch Out Wii even.
Heya Matt, thank you for all these years, you’ve helped me through so much. I was bullied a lot and all the videos from you and the guys helped me get through it all, I just want to to say thank you for everything. I look forward to watching this video and supporting you and your channel. Gonna get some merch too
I'm so sad more time wasn't given to Donkey Kong! But all of those arcade punch outs need to be experienced. HOW CAN I EXPERIENCE THEM?! (*furiously googles*)
I distictly remember being 12 years old and begging my parents every weekend to take me to Target so I can play the game there since it was free and they let you play the complete game. (we were less fortunate back then but now were waaaah better financially. But because of our small money pool I couldn't game like my friends)This game was the most amazing thing I ever played and now that I own it I can happily say it still holds up for me the game is an absolute gem and made me a happy kid every weekend
that'a how I was with the snes and at kmart with super mario world got it the following year though with turtles in time last console i ever had til i had my own money and got the xbox
Fun fact, apparently some of the Wii Punch-Out!!'s files say that Disco Kid was gonna be Kid Quick early on in development, which makes me sorta headcanon that Vance McMadd of the WVBA called up Kid Quick and gave him a dancing gimmick on the main roster :P
Matt, you've been one of my major inspirations for almost 10 years. I've learned so much for you and feel so proud to have you and your content in my life. Your content just keeps improving at every front and your demeanor and attitude towards life is something that I'm trying to emulate. Keep on evolving and doing what makes you happy.
this may have taken a while but it was worth it. you make good content and i'm happy you took your time no matter the reason. take care of yourself matt, we're rooting for you.
I know this vid has been in the works for a while, but it sure is great to hear Matt’s voice again. Glad he sounds happy and can still be super stoked to talk about things he loves. Thanks for the great video Matt, the last three days have been rough.
Content! sweet precious content! Its only been two days but I feel so empty. like I have a content hole that needs to be filled. please fill my hole, McMuscles Senpai.
I was a little concerned that this might feel like a retread after the Gaming Historian video on Punch-Out came out just recently, but you can really see the unique focus and heart in this one. Nice work. Also, it can't be overstated: That's not a dump on the GH video. There were insights there that weren't here and insights here that weren't there. Both videos are absolutely worth watching.
23:55 Actually, you can do that in the NES version, except it was a pat of confidence, and if you did it before the first round, Mac would get cocky and start with reduced health.
Great video Matt! I never was into punch-out myself but all the love you pour into videos like this makes me think I was mistaken to pass on it as a child. Anyways, I think everyone understands that these videos get made well in advance. We're all here for you, 100%.
And a silky smooth frame rate... right when he said that my internet failed and the frame rate dropped to be as stiff as possible while still counting as moving
I learned way more about this series than I ever thought I would. Definitely gonna need to go back and play these at some point, because I haven't ever given them the time of day for whatever reason.
I know this was pre breakup but it's gonna be videos like this that make me look towards the future, not with teary eyes, but with a smile. Keep it up big boss and never stop being awesome.
These keep getting better man! Can't wait for the next one Matt! I'm glad you can be this passionate about what your doing and if you weren't able to in the group than I understand you guys going your separate ways. Anyway I'm sure you've heard enough about that to last you a life time these past few days so I'll leave it at that. I'm sure all this will die down in time and people will focus soley on your solo work instead of constantly reminding you of the past. Looking forward to your big future man!
This vid really eases the pain. Makes me really happy to see you making these great videos dude. You've already given us years of entertainment and it seems like you aren't going to stop that anytime soon! Nothing but luv for you Matt. :)
This is, for some reason, an unpopular opinion but... Matt, you always were my favorite Best Friend. I'm glad you're still making content and will continue to be a constant in my life.
The videos on this channel continue to be gold. Hope everything's good Matt! Looking forward to more Wha Happun, Edgelords, and whatever else you got cooking!
Hey matt I know you prolly won’t see me, I’ve been watching you and the fellas since 2010, I appreciate all that you do and wanted to say thanks for continuing solo. Miss the good old days :(
Love you Matt! Thank you for all these years, been watching your show since 2012 and I enjoyed every single videos. Had a lot of great laughs from your channel and will keep supporting you always! Looking forward to more of your videos coming!
This is like the extended, full version of Did You Know Punch Out we've needed! I'm not sure if you've seen it, but supposedly they picked the name "Little Mac" as a play on his small size and the then popular Big Mac burger. When it came to the Wii entry, they wanted to have Little Mac turn into Big Mac, but changed it to Giga Mac to avoid any issues with McDonalds! EDIT: Whoops there it was at the end! I was a fool to think you would have missed a Punch Out detail Boss!
I was today years old when I realized if you flipped the front 2 letters of "Gabby Jay", you get "Jabby Gay" In my defense, I've only played SNES version a hand full of times as a kid. I mainly played the one on Wii and recently got around to the NES version on VC.
It's so reassuring to hear your voice again ;.; Been loving your retrospectives and solo content ever since you started. Wishing you well going forward!
This is fantastic, man! I fucking adored the Palace of Persia series but I think this might take the cake as my favourite thing on your channel to date. Kicking this new era off with a bang!
I've been using this handle for well over a decade because I grew up with the Mr. Dream version of Punch-Out!! My best friend growing up had the Mike Tyson version and called my game "the weird one." I still love you, Mr. Dream. You're my heavyweight champion. :(
I grew up with Tyson but Super Punch out is one of my favorite games of all time. I remember feeling so accomplished when I memorized SMM various “routine” patterns. I can remember calling my friend the moment I beat the final boss. Good times.
I've got a serious Punch-Out backlog: I've owned the Wii game for about 5 years, downloaded the NES game to my 3DS about 4 years ago, and I just bought the NES and SNES minis with their respective titles on them! I can't wait to marathon through the series.
Have to say your love for the Punch-Out series over the years made me play that Wii one with so much more intent than I did before. Keep content like this up boss!
*knock knock* Oh god not them again. *open door* Look how many times do I have to tell you. I DON'T WANT TO JOIN THE NINTENDO FUN CLUB! *man sticks out chocolate in front of me* ... ... ... *deep inhale* Where do I sign?
I'm glad they decided to release Doc Louis' Punch Out when Club Nintendo closed, did not hesitated to get it. Why it hasn't been packaged with the digital re-releases is beyond me.
They better make Punch-out!! for the switch. Its got motion controls, so why not? We don't want Punch out!! to become F-Zero, now do we? And plus, maybe we will get Pizza Pasta as a spirit. lol
Or heck, even a remastered port of the Wii version would do to test the waters for a new game. The graphics still look great on the Wii version thanks to the cel shading.
Can someone please help me? I can't find her anywhere. What's her name (don't know if I spelled it right while searching for her) and what is she from? 3:33
I'm looking forward to more content like this! I've always been a huge fan of historical delves into my hobbies or just learning about things I didn't know to much about, Punch Out being a cursory glace kind of subject but always fascinated with it's concept, art, and eclectic characters. Little Mac being a character I was really drawn to in Smash 4 by his redesign and gameplay style, not flashy but really fun to play. Focused and well produced, Matt! Hope ya do one on No More Heroes with the new game coming out! (Kinda wanna/need to draw Little McSkull...)
Love you Matt. I know you said that you had some content in line ready to come out. Though, I hope you take some time off to rest a bit while uploading those before taking time to make more content. From how the final of SBFP looked, you three all looked really stressed, and I just want you guys to take care of your well-being before carrying out your solo content.
It's been 15 years since Wii and before that, the gap between Super and Wii was also 15 years. Hopefully this means something Punch Out related is on the horizon.

It's cool, thanks for providing content and hope you have a good christmas!

He got all the recessive genes. (I know that's not who you're talking about.)
But thats when the blonde mac had a match with little macs son
"Sting like a butterfly, and turn into a caterpillar like a bee" right when I heard that I knew I would like this video.
I think a remaster of the Wii game, with the Doc Louis WiiWare stuff, and a Special Circuit like the SNES one, with a couple of new and returning fighters in said Circuit, could be amazing, if not incredible.

I look forward to watching this video and supporting you and your channel. Gonna get some merch too
THE COMRADES WE LOST...THE BEST FRIENDS WE LOST...WONT STOP HURTING. WHY ARE HERE? JUST TO SUFFER?!
existence is pain
I'm so sad more time wasn't given to Donkey Kong!
But all of those arcade punch outs need to be experienced. HOW CAN I EXPERIENCE THEM?! (*furiously googles*)
You can get one in the hamster arcade archives line
Amazing retrospective and some top notch editing!

You always impress me with how much care and work you put into these videos, I'm always hyped for a new one.
Matt McMuscles, you're one nifty dude.
Hope you're doing okay Matt, hope you can get feeling better soon, Thank you for all the laughs you've given us. (Side note: LOVE PUNCHOUT)
“To hell with your Walugi! Alice & Ape III for Smash!”
Jokes on you I sincerely want this to happen
Nah, we need Rick in smash!
Had no idea why the wire frame costume was an option. That's kinda neat.
Loved the vid, good luck on your next projects bossman
Yay! I don't ever care if this was an old recording and was just finished editing, it's so nice to see more content from you Matt!

He's back baby. Stay strong Matt.

One of my all time favorite series, so happy you did a retrospective of it! Didn't even know about a super punch out for arcade quite honestly.
I learned way more about this series than I ever thought I would.
Definitely gonna need to go back and play these at some point, because I haven't ever given them the time of day for whatever reason.

Great video Matt! I didn't even know they made an arcade version of Super Punch Out
I'm glad the silence is over. Thanks for the video Matt! 😀

Same dude. I was always so confused why people were so mean to him in the lp comments
That's the kind of video I subscribed for. Good job, sir!
Shit, the editing on this is great so far

Love you Matt. My heart is still sore but you're still our champion. Keep doing what you do.
Great video boss, been binging on all of your stuff. Really like what I see. Keep it goin!
I was today years old when I realized if you flipped the front 2 letters of "Gabby Jay", you get "Jabby Gay" In my defense, I've only played SNES version a hand full of times as a kid. I mainly played the one on Wii and recently got around to the NES version on VC.

Thanks for this boss
Its nice to watch this & take our minds off the events of the past few days
Sidenote: punch out on the wii was hype as fuck!
Dude I wanna see a Punch-Out where you fight literally everybody from previous games
This is fantastic, man! I fucking adored the Palace of Persia series but I think this might take the cake as my favourite thing on your channel to date. Kicking this new era off with a bang!
Thank you Matt for being the one to fill our dark soul with LIEEGHT.
I'm glad the Wii Punch Out sold well, it was the first and only one I played but it's so phenomenal it made me love the franchise. Excellent video!
Great job as always, chief! Here's hoping we get that Switch game.
Love all this PunchOut love recently. You and TheGamingHistorian made awesome videos
Love your content as always, no matter the form.
Loving the OSW reference. It helps that good content creators are rubbing off on each other.
Welcome back man, great to have you. Looking forward to this video and more to come.
Awesome look into an underrated series! Can't wait to see more!
I've been using this handle for well over a decade because I grew up with the Mr. Dream version of Punch-Out!! My best friend growing up had the Mike Tyson version and called my game "the weird one." I still love you, Mr. Dream. You're my heavyweight champion. :(
Always love to see a video from Matt McMuscles in my feed. Happy Holidays duder!
Keep the Stereotype train choo-choo'ing along!
Go Matt! Great content as always.
The original NES Punch Out was not only the first video game I ever played but still remains as one of my favorite games of all time.
I grew up with Tyson but Super Punch out is one of my favorite games of all time. I remember feeling so accomplished when I memorized SMM various “routine” patterns. I can remember calling my friend the moment I beat the final boss. Good times.

Keep strong 'Coolest of Cats ' You are the king of the Strong Style!
Have to say your love for the Punch-Out series over the years made me play that Wii one with so much more intent than I did before. Keep content like this up boss!
I wish you the best going into the future, Matt. Looking forwards to good content.
Loved this, I'm happy to see other people like Super Punch Out as well. Thanks so much for the vid!

Ey, Matt you PUNCHED this video OUT of the park! Gg's and informative mah dood.
Great video, thanks for making smile for the majority of a half hour!
This was a very well made and informative video Matt! All the best for the future!

Punch Out wii is an underrated masterpiece in my opinion
One of the most fun games I've ever played
Glad to see Chez McMuscles is still open for business. Keep kicking ass, sir.
I love the Punch-Out series, it's easily Nintendo's most underrated work.
I'm here now, I'm doing the best I can :(
Love your edited stuff, gives us more insight into the topic at hand. Look forward to more.
It's been 15 years since Wii and before that, the gap between Super and Wii was also 15 years. Hopefully this means something Punch Out related is on the horizon.
Nice! I get that this is a pretty big and emotional week for you, the others and the fans, but apropos of nothing I've been waiting to see more stuff like this from you.
I love how every Mr. Sandman intro has like a please stop quote under his name.
Probably if not the best sports series of sport games, these game still hold up very strong today and get some major replay value!
This made me remember that I got up to Soda Popinski in the Wii Punch-Out while just using the balance board and motion controls, then absolutely could NOT beat Soda that way. I really need to go back and beat the whole thing with regular controls for the last portion.
Aw yiss, some new uploads! Need the notifications to push the nightmarish (FINAL) spectre down and out of existence!
You and Gaming Historian are on fire with these
This is getting me all emotional about Punch-Out, Little Mac, and Doc Louis again like when the Wii game first came out
Good video! Many best wishes and good vibes coming your way
Wow!!
Bald Bull!!
Excellently researched video as usual, Mr. McMuscles. Always loved the campily stereotypical character designs in these games and I'm glad I got to get walked through its history.
Before this video I didn't know jack shit about punch out, but this cleared it all up for me. Great video man everything was fantastic
Great piece! I played the original arcade Punch-Out in the 80s at Video Space Games in Huntington Beach, CA. Mike Tyson's PO was a favorite and memorable title at a time full of perfect releases. Never played any of the other versions, but after seeing this I wanna pick up a Wii just to play some Punch-Out!!
