    My husband and I went riding on Sunday because we knew the weather was going to turn to crap on Monday. We'd stop and folks thought we were crazy for riding in 32 degree weather. We were both very comfortable in our leather jackets, chaps & boots. We're in southern Middle Tennessee. We have also met some awesome folks on our rides. Folks asking questions and such. We just really love it. Riding is better than therapy! LOL.

      Crazy is a relative term LOL. Love TN. Great riding there for sure. And meeting people is half the fun of riding honestly. There are some great people out there still. And Wind Therapy is best. I have a video all about that.

His dad, my friend, called me only able to say four words, broken bones hospital now! After guiding in 2 ambulances an helicopter life flight to best hospital, he's back, but he never be normal? But now they are excited about Tennessee!

    As someone who restores cagers and has been in the auto industry for over 25 years … I found that car owners are more entitled than any other operator of a motorized vehicle.
    With motorcycles you have to be above average to truly ride one well …. You have practice and dedicate yourself to the lifestyle.
    The mass appeal of cars allows just about anyone with a lack of responsibility or self awareness to drive … not mention a sense of entitlement that makes them believe they’re the only person that matters.
    I’m glad I joined the motorcycle community and subbed to this channel

    I ride a bike. I'm amused about the self-important explanation of "riding for a cause" that happens to be whatever your group is into. That's nice, good for you. Being in a pack of other bikers doesn't make you any more special than anybody else out there.
    And as for parking, a care as much about where I park my 4 wheeled "stuff" as much as I do my 2 wheeled "stuff".

    We wave at each other acknowledging our mutual love of the road. We stop for other bikers if they are on the side of the road. We don't think of our bikes as disposable appliances. One bike l have is 25 years old and the other is 40 years old. A very good way to be 💚🍏 green. Cagers don't enjoy the 🛣️ road the way we do. We ride just to ride. Where are we going? Who knows who cares! If l have to explain you would not understand.

    #2. I was hyper vigilant long before I had my MC Lic. I drove a 66' Chrysler New Yorker 2dr hrdtp that weighed almost 3 tons w/4whl drum brakes & a single master cylinder. It actually prepared me for riding bikes. Not for my benefit, but to keep from killing morons that cut me off when driving in my NYer. I just switched it around riding bikes. #5, my biggest difference was from going from a sport bike (79' KZ1000 ST) to a 21' Vulcan 1700 Vaquero. That's on me learning to ride a different bike.

    A good illustration of the difference between bikers and motorcyclists. Bikers think the world revolves around them as they ride their handful of pay events annually with really not a lot of ongoing riding experience. If that comment annoys you, go look at any insurance sale of wrecked bikes and see which ones are there. Motorcyclists ride on, fitting into society without having a "Look at me" attitude or claiming the highway as theirs while trying to justify their inconsiderate actions to others. There are things bikers do to "Cagers" that could be used as a video also. Motorcyclists don't drink and ride or feel a need to be recognized by bike type or brand, need to be part of a club for recognition or acceptance, or need to disrupt their neighbors with their loud illegal aftermarket exhausts for attention. Loud pipes don't save lives. If you are riding that close to another vehicle that you need to say that, you're not riding well. Get trained, ditch the rebellious attitude and stereotype, and enjoy the ride safely with the rest of society.

    Glad to see ya got a video out Chef. I was having withdrawal syndrome. Was wondering when you would get to the wave. Some Jeep Wrangler owners do the wave thing. Or they used to anyway. Before the current Harley wave there was the raise your left fist in the air with your fist closed. That was in the 90s. Not sure what style of wave was before that.

    Interesting video as usual. I've got Vance and hines big radius 2 into 2 on my FXSTC and they sound awesome. I live in a retirement community and when they hear my bike start my neighbours come out to wave me off! I've got long grey hair and beard, tattoos and piercings and always wear leather. Guess I'm just a typical old school biker! It got down to -14 centigrade last night here in Scotland with more snow forecast. I'm definitely suffering from Parked Motorcycle Syndrome right now lol!

    The thing I get asked about most by non riders is about lane positioning. Why we don’t ride in the middle of the lane and why we change lane positions. Seems that once I explain some of the reasons, a lot of people become less annoyed and more aware of bikes around them on the road

    -Don't even stop for cops.
    -Filter between lanes.
    -Get new tires all the time.
    -Sweat you're ass off.

    Great video, I agree with the loud pipes. I put a Termignoni Titanium Dragster exhaust on my Ducati Diavel V4. It's pretty close to straight pipes. You can actually feel it in your chest when you're standing next to the bike. I wear full leathers and motorcross boots and people do ask me why. I tell them I like to keep my skin. Slow Rider out.

    Without trying to motorcycle riders are more caring for the environment because we use less gas and oil, because our engines are smaller and we sit right on top of the engine so we fix things more. you do not see very many oil burning bikes, but you do see alot of smoking cages. because we are IN THE WIND... WE CARE ABOUT IT.

  • @RocketPunches
    @RocketPunches ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've been riding for about 15 years, and, honestly the loud pipes thing is the single most absurd bit of copium riders bust out for doing something annoying and potentially harmful to the hobby. First and foremost, no one in a car is going to hear you before they see you unless there are very tight sight lines, and even then not always. It betrays a frankly annoying level of ignorance of physics, something every rider should be at least basically familiar with considering we manipulate it in a dozen ways every time we get on a bike.
    If you're out in the country with tight sight lines, a la in a forest or on a mountain pass, you are primarily surrounded by dense vegetation and trees. These things absorb sound, like anti-echo foam in a studio. The sound enters those spaces and then dies there. Conversely, out in the open plains, there's nothing to reflect off of, so they will again... not hear you because unfortunately, the sound comes out the back of your bike, not the front and sound is directional. On foot you might hear it before you see it, but people on foot are generally not a danger to us. That sound has to get through the outside of a car, and a lot of modern cars are very quiet.
    Maybe when everything on the road was like the VWs I grew up in this held true, resonant tin cans with no AC that forced people to have their windows down if they wanted airflow. Today though? Almost certainly not a factor, and definitely not if the vehicle in question is moving and thus further obscuring motorcycle sounds with wind and road noise. There's unlikely to be more than a handful of very specific spots on any given ride where the conditions for someone to hear you before they see you is even possible if you and them both end up in the right spot at the right time.
    The only place someone is likely to hear you before they see you is in a dense urban environment with lots of hard surfaces to reflect sound without it losing its volume. This is also a problem though, because sound will bounce until it runs out of energy. The city is like a big cathedral, it's going to bounce that sound in a bunch of different directions. This means where the sound is perceived to be coming from will be inconsistent, and potentially even the opposite of where it's coming from. Long story short, if I can't hear a big V8 on the road until it's right on top of me, I can't hear your comparatively puny bagger.
    Finally, and maybe this isn't a going concern for someone who rocks around on a bike that costs more than my first 3 bikes AND first 3 cars combined, but every single one of those pipes makes your motorcylce spew more crap than almost everything else on the road. You can stick your head in the sand all you want, but that won't change the fact that triple digit temps will cook air cooled classics and riders, and things likes floods, forest fires, and whatnot wash out our favorite backroads and scar our favorite scenery. It means we're sucking down more crap that's more likely to jack up our lungs too, especially if you're sucking on your buddy's fumes for a whole ride. Motorcycles are never going to be the big problem to solve there, but there's a point on that scale where not help is hurting, and it's probably just plain old hurting to delete your cat and turn your bike into one of the most polluting thing on the road.
    Aftermarket pipes also contribute to trail closings for people who prefer to avoid the road and the metal clad psychos on it, because noise pollution is more than just annoying for humans, it's an ecological problem. There's a whole host of reasons why that 2-5 horsepower bump and nice exhaust note isn't worth it. And whether you put them on should come with serious reflections about the potential downstream effects of you doing something that's ultimately entirely superfluous purely for aesthetics.

    "cagers" hahaha sounds a stupid word to somehow try create an 'us and them' distinction. most people i know who ride bikes, drive as well. same as cyclists or horse riders who drive. there's plenty of ignorant people and the mode of transport is irrelevent. the whole tone of your vid (until i couldnt bear it any more) seems to imply some sort of moral highground if you are a biker. I love riding my motorbike and did over 10k miles last year, but still see plenty of stupid bikers who ride dangerously and dont give a shit about any other road user, and my opinion about them is just the same as any road user who doesnt show respect either. GL

    • @ridingfreenation
      @ridingfreenation  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are plenty of stupid bikers out there for sure. And that is a whole other topic because they give the rest of the motorcycle world a bad name. I am sorry the tone of my video was unbearable for you. My channel is a source of fun and entertainment. I think we are special because we ride. It makes us different than people who just drive. I am proud to be a biker and that will never change.
