Probably should have, but I didn’t. I just cleaned up the mating surface and reused the old gasket. If you know you are needing to replace the starter you might as well go ahead and get gaskets as well

You may want to look at the title again. It clearly says starter and no where in the video did I mention anything about the stator. But thanks for stopping by
got a 98 waverrunner xl1200 i hear the relay clicking but nothing else done pulled the starter waiting on a new one!

Did you encounter any broken bolts while attempting to take them off, also were they hard to screw back due to residue from loc tite?
The bolts to the manifold was a pain but no broken bolts
yes one of the bolts on mine broke in half taking the starter off but none on the exhaust broke
the exhaust has to come off??

I didn’t change any gaskets. Probably would be suggested but I haven’t had an issues with it
