ZBB is really a rock band that was forced into the “Nashville System”. That’s why literally 40% of their live show is covers. If you listen to their covers you can see what they’d actually like to be playing.
As a hard rock/metal dude from way back, I gotta hand it to some of these country guys like ZBB and Rascal Flatts. They know how to rock and rock pretty well. It's called musicianship.

Zac Brown band will always surprise you with other songs. They blew my mind with Enter Sandman when I saw them. They'll do Beatles songs, you'll just never know what they'll throw into their performances. A very talented band.
All of the misdirected hostility in this thread is ridiculous. It’s safe to say that most of you are not musicians...cause everyone knows that musicians pay their dues by playing covers. You play songs that appeal to both you and the audience and slowly start to find your own voice. This performance isn’t a faithful rendition of the originals...it isn’t meant to be...no more than Hetfield doing Waylon’s Don’t you Think was meant to be a carbon copy. It’s done for fun, for Pete’s sake! I was actually pretty impressed by this myself. I’ve always like ZBB, but seeing them stretch and show some of their influence has made me appreciate them a bit more!
Rick Nees I saw them in New Orleans earlier this year (2019) and they were awesome. Closed the show with hot for teacher and bulls on parade. Never thought I’d go to a country concert and leave with a rage song in my head

TH-cam algorithm guided me here and I didn't know ZBB. I know nothing about the Country genre but... When right side guitarist started 'Sweet Child Of Mine', I felt something would happen. Felt like I saw another world when they played 'Back In Black'(AC/DC), 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'(Nirvana). From Mozart to Metallica and ZBB, they have given me countless precious moments. Huge love from Korea, 2020.

I love country. I love rock and Metallica. Metallica was my 1st concert at 17 yrs old, senior in HS, and saw them on a school nite and we still got up next morning to go to school. That was the deal I made with my mom❤️🤘🤘
I love how one guitarist starts playing anything, and the whole band just starts following and playing along, no matter the song. A special kind of badass.

I'll tell you first hand that any musician worth their salt can do this without rehearsing. When you understand music, you can easily apply it and play just about anything off the cuff.

I'm a metallica fan. I saw ZB last year knew a few songs went to the show. Loved it. Now ZB is on rotation and I didn't expect to hear enter sandman, it was awsome live. The entire show was amazing live. Definitely see ZB again

I would be totally happy with spending my concert money just for that fun little guitar battle... It's much better when bands plan out a good time rather than trying to jam through the set list and promote the newest album fast as possible.
I saw Zac Brown the first time at the Southern Comfort Bar and Grill. Back in 96/97/98. He was an up in commer and a freind of the House band. Sadly that bar is gone. But ZBB goes on.

I started raising up and down on my toes rapidly because I'd just gotten diagnosed with vascular disease and and my feet had swelled up and fell asleep. The singer stopped and accused me of assaulting my own daughter and I was grabbed up by this big fucking security and tossed over the rail and taken to the parking lot. I guess she must have thought I was dry humping a teenage girl from the angle, but we were just squished together on the floor. It was such a shame that I didn't make it to see Taylor Swift give one of her last true country music performaces...not really. I know someone has it up on TH-cam probably, or Watchmojo has probably made a show out of it.

I think back to the 80's when Metallica were still the shit! when they were the biggest metal band who never had a song on the radio because their music was too hardcore. and now country bands are saluting them. we really are in the future! so awesome!

I'm making a contrast between the time this song came out when Metallica was on top of the world and in the 80's when they were actually just as popular but not mainstream so they had hits but no radio stations would play them, but they play them now. Fade to Back and Master of Puppets were considered too hardcore in the 80's and the first time Metallica made a music video was the song One.
In high school we wrote “Fade to Black” for a string quartet, drums, and electric guitar with the violin playing lead. You’d be surprised how much easier Kirk’s arpeggio based solos are to play on violin than guitar

I went to Valdosta State in the mid 2000's. Zach brown came and played at local bars about 2-3 times a year. Last time I saw him was a few months before he won a grammy. Just wild.

It's cool to see these guys having some fun playing a Metallica song at a country concert. As a musician, I love playing songs of multiple genres, I imagine these guys are the same, their bread and butter is country, but they like all kinds of stuff.
I love bands (of any type) occasionally doing something "outside their genre". Good music is good music, and the fans clearly loved it.
