So you are saying we should reward the top kicker.

This really hammers home the idea that we can never get vanilla WoW back. All the different flavors of Classic are just too full of people trying to play the game like this. It feels like nobody actually wants to have FUN anymore.

Love this content. And as a first time wow player, raider and guild leader of a fledgling guild of ~40 people, ive gone through these problems, iterations of solutions and thoughts over the last few months - what do you think prescriptively is the best solution?
SR is easy but hard to recruit, and once people have their loot they check out for the season.
GDKP is like a warlock's demon: it summons warm bodies at the cost of the soul and long term life of the guild.
DKP seems like the best way to reward effort fairly with communicated expectations and payouts, while also encouraging altruistic behavior (award points for helping others, summons, consumes, kicks etc) and reward players for carrying their own weight (give some extra points for being on time at the entrance with worldbuffs). It also incentivizes players continueing to help in raids after have earned all their gear (allow them to acrue dkp points for next phase for example). Thats all good, but dkp has by far the most overhead and buy-in by its members, and is the hardest to recruit for by a mile.
Not sure what to do. Would love a follow up video on what you think works for different audiences and goals of different guilds.

      Ideas:
A one or two man Loot Council can answer peoples questions instantly and with high accuracy. This is my favorite.
Some form of SR with a couple of items HR'd is a good alternative to LC in the short term.
DKP is hard to manage. Incentive optimization is hard to do when you don't have a line of people out the door trying to join.
Slowly gaining lifelong friends is the best win condition. Everyone else will leave eventually.

@@JakeFromTree thanks for the reply! Love the ideas - i'll think them over and talk them over with some officers and friends going into phase 4 sod. Boy has phase 3 been rough to recruit haha.
Thank you for the great content and engagement, and know your reach is much larger than the view or subscriber account may make it seem. Your advice is helping me, which in turn is helping some ~40-odd people. Keep up the great content!

I love your content man, but where is nameplates addon? :D You don't see how much health mobs have without tabbing.

GDKP's are not a fun environment. The raid becomes work, people are joking less and sweating more over (let's be honest) easy, simple content. If you're a pug in a regular GDKP group, you're not in on the jokes, and you're gonna get docked for not playing perfectly, and if a big ticket item doesn't drop, you feel even worse when 1/2 the items get D/E'd.

SOD is soooo good in terms of raiding because of not existing GDKP, hope cataclysm have it one day, all pugs are gdkps if you dont make it yourself
